Re: [mukto-mona] Communal Atrocities taking violent form Since 5 Januaary 2024

. I agree but the biggest price had to pay the so called minorities to be more specific the Hindus. In the alter of democratic institution Hindus had to give blood, even no other minorities. Christians, Budhists and even adihashis were more or less safe. Why Hindus? and Hindus ?. In my view Bangladesh has negatively progressed in the last few years.

>>>>>>>>>>> The main-steam population is paying attention and doing their level best to address this issue. The citizens have spoken up, visited the victims, written over it and protested it all over the country.

Unfortunately I cannot say the same about leaders of our major political parties. We the people take blame for such horrendous abuse and mourn over it. However all the benefit goes to political parties.

The ONLY long term solution of this type of crime is the have a platform that can address it. First, an investigation and followed by PUNISHMENT of criminals.

We (All fair minded people of Bangladesh) have to demand such protection from our government. Blaming others is the easy option and we like to see a government who will take responsibilities for our civil liberties (Freedom of religion, freedom of speech and protection of all law abiding citizens of Bangladesh).

From non-communal Secular Bangladesh to a fanatic Sunna Muslim communal state.

>>>>>>>>>>> Do you feel a fanatic "Sunni Muslim communal" government is in power now? Did not they get elected during 2008 by vast majority of our people? So why are we blaming religion not our system?

I respect your observation but (Respectfully) disagree. During 2001 I blamed BNP for not containing violence and actively took part in forming help for the victims. Even before that time, when we give aid for flood victims or other aids, most of the time I have not seen anyone discussing religion.

The secular forces receded into background, the Jamatis-Shibirites-Hefazze Hujurs and many other fanatic forces taken over. This sad but this is the harsh truth.

>>>>>>>> Malaysia also have Muslim majority. UAE is an Arab country (Run by Sharia law) but I do not recall seeing anything like what we witnessed there.

The countries with reports of violence have "Structural defects" and India recently saw riots (Much larger scale). Therefore "Secularism" is not guaranteed to offer protection against Muslims, Hindus, Christians or tribal population.

It has been established beyond shadow of doubt these violence are seen around election time. This year we had around five hundred thousand troops ready to "Help" our election process. Let us ask our Election Commission about that. I urge (specifically those who are actively doing politics with BAL) members to ask some question about it. Even Hindu leaders are trying to protect our politics than our people!!

I do not mind people blame political parties, I myself blamed BNP when it was in power for 21st August incident.

A simple fact of life is with power come RESPONSIBILITIES. We like to see someone step up and be a responsible leader for a change. We have plenty of critics to throw blame.

If any such "Huzurs" are caught in act of arson or violence, punish him too. Law has to all equal for all.

Instead of attacking ideologies, if we stick to attack "Bad actions" (Arson, loot, violence etc), I feel we can make impact. Our people enjoy talking about politics and taking sides but I do not feel they actively support injustice.

If you have a better solution for this problem, kindly share it with us.

Shalom!

Dear Dr. Roy
Can you name one Muslim dominated country where non Muslims are not persecuted? Since the advent of Islam, fourteen hundred years of history is more or less well recorded.  Even thirty per cent Muslim population has been good enough to split the country apart.

Dear Sir,

I am glad that you raised the point - why are Hindus being persecuted in Bangladesh, when they had been living along with Muslims and others for millenniums? I myself had been raising this issue for quite sometime now.

You will see my article in the bdnews24.com either tomorrow or day after on 'Beyond the Pale' where I raised issues like democracy deficiency, corruption and atrocities on Hindus. It is not exactly right to blame wholly on BNP/Jamaat and other Islamist organisations for such atrocities, although majority may have been committed by them, but there are definitely AL hooligans who are also doing such things for political and financial reasons. If the government wanted seriously to stop these things, they can do so. But they are only offering lip services. Now that the election is over, we must mobilise our efforts to create a free and fair society - society free from injustice, racial and religious discrimination, corruption, nepotism and cronyism.

The article in mukto-mona by Dr Mizan Rahman on 'Tara kothay palabe?' is an excellent one and should be widely circulated.

Dear Mukto Monas,

After the election of 5 January a constitutional requirement according to some political Pundits in order to maintain constitutional continuity. The secular forces receded into background, the Jamatis-Shibirites-Hefazze Hujurs and many other fanatic forces taken over. This sad but this is the harsh truth. Please read the attached story of agony of Hindus in two areas given as examples. More will follow. Mukto-mona moderator kindly post the crying voice of the Hindus!
