Shaikh was too careless about his own safety. Had he become the Fidel of the the East with checks and balances, he would have a longer life. It was simply easy to kill him and BKSAL was rather a fig leaf to justify the heinous crime. Bangladesh was not ready for a Jeffersonian democracy in 1970's when only 10% of its people could hardly read and write.
