[mukto-mona] FW: Dakhil Madrah System May Be The Basis of One Stream Education

Editorial for Asia Post

Subject: Dakhil Madrah System May Be The Basis of One Stream Education

Dakhil Madrah System May Be The Basis of One Stream Education

We have seen recently that Major Islamic scholar Moulana Sayeedi has
said that if there is to be one stream education then Madrasah stream
should be the basis. We support this idea because ours is a ninety
percent Muslim majority country and it is necessary that all of them
get proper and full basic religious education . For Non- Muslims there
should be proper option to study their religion .
Dakhil course ( which is a ten year course of government approved
madrasas, its beginning starts from the time of British colonial
administration of Hastings ) which is equivalent to our high school
course and it has one thousand marks and has about 400 hundred marks
on Islamic subjects .It also contains math, english, science and other
subject, so this syllabus meets need of our country at the school
level. It can also help those who wat to make higher studies in Islam and
also other subjects as the student may want.,On the other hand our
school syllabus has only one hundred marks for Islam, it is not enough
for proper religious education and from this one can not also go to
hihher Islamic education ( as it does not have basis for higher
education in the Quran, Hadith or Fiqh) So if we have to make one stream
at school level , then dakhil madrssha course is more
suitable,we,therefore feel that if the government wants one system than
Moulana sayeedi suggestion is very appropriate . However , we also feel
that separate systems may remain as in many other countries

[ALOCHONA] Corruption, BNP Style

Sircar graft stuns JS probe body

Stern penalty to be recommended

A parliamentary sub-committee probing alleged corruption of former speaker Jamiruddin Sircar yesterday said it would recommend the House to take stern actions against him as it found Sircar's financial anomalies undermined the dignity of the Speaker's office.

"The post of Speaker of Parliament is a symbol of transparency and pride of the nation but we keep revealing more and more terrible examples of misappropriation of money by the former speaker," Moyeen Uddin Khan Badal, a member of the parliamentary sub-committee, told reporters after its meeting.

"We are very shocked to see the misdeeds of a speaker. We have been revealing more cases of terrible theft and misappropriation of money as we went deep into the matter," he said.

The sub-committee formed by the all-party parliamentary committee to investigate the alleged corruption and misappropriation of money by the former speaker at yesterday's meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban discussed some more alleged corruption of Sircar.

It will finalise its report on May 6 and submit it to the all-party parliamentary probe body to place its recommendations before the House on taking actions against Sircar, who is also a member of the ninth Parliament.

Citing an example of misappropriation of money, Awami League lawmaker Shajahan Khan, chief of the parliamentary sub-committee, said the former speaker spent Tk 35 lakh and Tk 45 lakh in 2003-04 and 2005-06 fiscal years for arboriculture purpose, which the committee thinks is unusually high.

The sub-committee also raised questions on his receiving Tk 1 lakh every year for arboriculture at his official residence.

"Without floating any tender, the former speaker awarded those works to some specific contractors to serve his interest," he alleged.

Shajahan said MA Jalil, a contractor who was awarded the job of planting grass on the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban premises under a Tk 1-crore project, did not show up before the committee even though he was summoned.

"Actually we could not trace the contractor [MA Jalil], a member of BNP central committee, as the address he had provided was the address of a rice mill," Shajahan said, adding, "We have asked authorities concerned to place him before the committee's next meeting."

Asked whether Jamiruddin Sircar will loose his membership in Parliament if the committee finally finds him guilty of corruption, Badal said the House would decide the next course of action.

"The then Indian Parliament expelled Sree Mudagale, a lawmaker in 1951 after he admitted to misuse of power before the committee formed to investigate his alleged corruption," Badal said.

"Parliament is the symbol of transparency and morality and if anyone undermines its dignity, our parliament will take very stern action," he said.

Meanwhile, another parliamentary sub-committee yesterday said the former speaker wasted Tk 63 lakh by recruiting 84 employees for the parliamentary standing committee after the eight parliament dissolved on October 26, 2006.

The parliamentary sub-committee, for investigating alleged irregularities in recruiting employees, said it has finalised its report mentioning specific recommendations for all-party parliamentary probe body.

The sub-committee chief Mujib-ul Haque Chunnu said the former speaker breached oath of office by appointing employees violating rules and wasting public money.

"We have sufficient evidence that the former speaker Jamiruddin Sircar violated laws while appointing employees in parliament and also misused public money through appointing 84 employees to work for the parliamentary standing committees on different ministries when the eight parliament was over," Mujibul Haque, head of the sub-committee, told reporters after a meeting of the committee at the parliament building.

[ALOCHONA] Law and order starts sliding

Law and order starts sliding
Extortion over phone on rise

The overall law and order has deteriorated recently with an increase in the incidents of robbery, mugging, extortion over phone and car lifting across the country as organised gangs have started coming into the open apparently with the blessings of their godfathers.

'Crimes have increased slightly as gangsters have started coming into the open taking the advantage of the changeover,' inspector general of police Nur Mohammad told New Age Wednesday.

'Incidents of extortion over phone have increased recently,' he said.
The police boss, however, claimed that the situation was not alarming as law enforcing agencies were conducting special drives, had set up checkpoints and increased patrols.

He said crooks sometimes try to take political shelters. 'But we understand what is what and the government has asked us not to spare anybody found involved in criminal activities.'
According to police statistics, a total of 268 incidents of robbery or burglary were recorded in the first three months of 2009 of which 182 were committed in houses, 27 on highways and the robbers killed seven people during the period.

The statistics put the number of mugging at 359 during the period while it was 298 during the corresponding period of last year.
Five incidents of political violence were recorded this year while the number was nil last year.
Some 483 cars and other vehicles were lifted in January-March this year while the number was 459 last year.

The number of murders, however, decreased across the country excepting in the capital city. A total of 930 people were murdered in the first three months of this year while the number was 993 in during the same period last year.
In the capital, the number of homicides was recorded at 82 compared to 64 during the same period of last year, according the statistics of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The incidents of robbery and burglary registered a sharp rise in the capital in recent times and the police recorded 37 robberies in January-March this year against 17 in the same period of last year.
The figures, however, do not reflect the real situation as many victims do not record criminal incidents that a large number of listed criminals, who were on the run during the state of emergency, have returned from their hideouts and resumed crimes with the blessings of a section of both ruling and opposition political leaders.

The director general of Rapid Action Battalion, Hasan Mahmud Khondokar, however, claimed that the law and order was under control.
Admitting increase in the incidents of shooting, killing and mugging, DMP commissioner AKM Shahidul Haque said, 'We have made some successes fighting crimes.'

[ALOCHONA] Farhad Mazhar on Ittefaq Report on 1/11 and BDR Carnage

1/11 and BDR Carnage

Ultimate motive of BDR carnage: Killing army officers, giving disciplined forces bad name

The ultimate motive of the Peelkhana carnage on 25 and 26 February last was to simply kill Army officers commanding BDR as a result of which 54 Army officers were killed.

The actual planners of the massacre instigated common BDR soldiers and generated heat against Army officers. The geo political securities analysts said that the killing behind that was initially a sweet revenge against few army officers as perpetrators of 1/11.

Financed and inspired by affected political party members from position and/or opposition benches that was well exploited by forces across the border leading to a success of the new millennium.

Intelligence agencies said that several motive were present behind the carnage that include diplomatic, economics, political and social. Others sources said total intelligences failure by the following concerned agencies- Rifle securities Unit (RSU) of BDR, special Branch (SB) of police and two other intelligence agencies had also failed.

Purposeful exploitation by certain vested corners of popular supports of the habitants residing around Peelkhana, most of whom are retired and serving BDR members or their relations and local contacts doing business with Peelkhana acted as a stimulus.

Lack of preparation and absence of crisis management procedure by the ministry of the home affairs, police and Army also were responsible.Incorrect as well as delay in decision making at tactical and operation level was a major reason.

Deliberate, biased, unrealistic and well coordinated propaganda and psychological warfare conducted by almost all electronic media channels in support of the ill motivated and unauthenticated demands of the BDR soldiers and poor media control by ministry of information had to be same reasons..

Source said kill selected, all or as many, possible, officers of Bangladesh Army deputed in BDR. Bayonet, burn, mutilate and humiliate the dead bodies in a manner that no army officers ever dare to serve in Border Security Forces. Make the highly professional and effective by destroying its total chain of command. Create general mistrust among senior leadership and junior officers of the armed forces, especially in the Army destabilizing the chain of command.

Enable miscreants, terrorists and anti state elements to capture a number of arms and ammos, providing the easiest and the cheapest recourses for carrying out terrorist activies nationwide in the future, avoiding the need to smuggle in the same from abroad..

Generate general mistrust among the officers and the other ranks of law enforeesment agencies and the Army.Diplomatic motives: projects Bangladesh internationally as a nation vulnerable to terrorism from with in its security forces.

Push in friendly mission of military forces inside the Bangladesh territory in the disguise of protecting foreign establishments in the Airlines and Railway services, embassy and consulates FDI industries and institutions.

Economic motives that have reduced remittances due to reduction of forces in UN mission. Brand Bangladesh as a unreliable and unstable country to reduce foreign investment (FDI), tourism industrialization, trade and commerce.

Social motivates that violate and torture the officers wives and children to degrade and isolate the army officers so that young boys with good academic and family background hate to choose Army career.

[ALOCHONA] Jamaat link in Ctg street violence detected and 6 Jamaat leaders arrested

A section of the anti-liberation Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and workers here in the port city may have to shoulder the total responsibility of the street violence and indiscriminate destruction of vehicles in the name of demonstration on Monday last.

Security people have by now identified the masterminds and the designers of the unruly demonstration reportedly under the banners of Bangladesh Sramik Kallayan Federation and auto-rickshaw drivers and workers union.

The unruly auto-rickshaw drivers and workers taken into custody from the spot had reportedly told the inside story of the violent demonstration to the police.

They also admitted that a smart amount of money had also been spent for mobilizing the demonstration of the auto-rickshaw drivers and the subsequent destructions.

Detectives pursuing the statements of the detainees have already nabbed 12 more people from different parts of the city and currently looking for Abu Taher Khan, General Secretary of Bangladesh Sramik Kallayan Federation, and Kamal Uddin, a former armed cadre of the Islami Chhatra Shibir.

"We've identified the main culprits after reviewing the video clippings, still-photographs and questioning the detainees. Special teams are out to take the absconding culprits into book," one of the senior detectives told this correspondent.

Political analysts believed that the agitators had the intention of destabilizing the city's law and order and fish in the troubled water.

Officials at Doublemooring, Halishahar, Panchlaish and Kotwali police stations confirmed cases against more than 1500 auto-rickshaw drivers including the anarchists.

On the other hand, leaders of the Auto-rickshaw Sramik League called upon the fellow drivers to take down their auto-rickshaws on the streets complying the metering rules.

They claimed that actual auto-rickshaw drivers did not take part in Monday's confrontations but a section of politically influenced people carried out the destructions.

Some of the auto-rickshaw drivers came down on the street near Karnaphuli Market yesterday afternoon. Leaders of the Auto-rickshaw Sramik League were seen examining the tariff meters of the auto-rickshaws.

It could not be known whether the pro-Jamaat-e-Islami leaning union of the auto-rickshaw drivers abandoned their strike as the leaders of Bangladesh Sramik Kallayan Federation went into hiding after the incident.

Govt plans to ban twelve militant organisations

As the government is mulling over the possibility of banning 12 militant organisations active across the country, the home ministry has instructed different law enforcement and intelligence agencies to take action against the members of these militant outfits, sources in the home ministry said.

State Minister for Home Tanjim Ahmed Sohel Taj yesterday told The Independent that the law enforcement agencies had been asked to remain on high alert about the activities of all the militant organisations, which are conducting their activities in the name of Islam.

We also instructed the police and the intelligence agencies to arrest the activists of the militant organisations, who are carrying illegal activities", he said.

"We are trying to stop militancy from the country at any cost," he said adding, "Our friendly countries like USA and India assured us of necessary assistances to stop militancy." He also said that the government would root out the militancy from the country.

Sources said that the government has already warned officials of the field-level administration like divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners (DCs) and upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) to remain on high alert about the activities of militant organisations.

The government advised them to hold regular meetings of the law and order committees in the divisional headquarters and at district and upazila levels and inform the government of the latest situation with regard to militant activities in their areas.

The Home ministry last formed a high-powered committee headed by state minister to create social awareness among the local people against militant activities. The sources said that Islamic militants under the banner of 29 different organisations were still active across the country.

The law enforcing agencies are also apprehending that the militants are likely to create untoward incidents.Besides, drive against the militants has been intensified for nabbing them. The law enforcers have arrested some militants from different parts of the country over the last few months.

According to the sources, the 29 militant organisations which are still active across the country are: Zadid Al Quida, Hijbut Tahrir, Allar Dal, Joishey Mohammad, Warat Islamic Front, Hijbeh Abu Omor, Jamaatul Mujahidin Bangladesh (JMB), Harkatul Jihad (Huji), Jaamatul Falaiya, Bishwa Islamic Front, Shahadat-e-Nobuyot, Al Zihad of Bangladesh, Jamayat Assadat, Horkat-e-Islam Al Zihad, Muslim Millat Sharifa Council, World Islamic Front for Zihad, Hizbul Masadi, Islamic Dawati Kafela, Al Islam Marhutas Brigade, Dawate Islam, Tanzim, Ijbe-Abu Omar, Al Harat Al Islamia, Joishey Mostafa of Bangladesh, Al Khidmot, Hizbullah Islami Somaj, Dawate Islam and R-cud.

The sources said that over 750 leaders and members of different Islamic militant organisations were arrested during the last three years. On February 23, 2005, the BNP-led four-party alliance government banned the militant organisation JMB and its offshoot Jagrata Muslim Janata, Bangladesh (JMJB).

On March 30, 2007, six top militants including Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) supremo Shaikh Abdur Rahman, his deputy Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai, JMB Majlish-e-Shura (highest decision-making body) member Abdul Awal and Shaikh Abdur Rahman's son-in-law, military commander and Rahman's youngest brother Ataur Rahman Sunny, suicide bomber Iftekhar Hasan Mamun and Shura member Khaled Saifullah were hanged in different jails for killing two Jhalakathi judges.

[ALOCHONA] Medical Alert: What you need to know about the Swine Flu

Medical Alert: What you need to know about the Swine Flu

The number of confirmed swine flu cases continues to rise as officials across the globe try to get a grasp on this virus in terms of treatment and preventing its spread. The Mexican Government says there are now nearly 2,000 cases. 159 people are now dead who are suspected swine flu victims

On the National Level:
Health officials are trying to combat the swine flu outbreak and are preparing for a worst case scenario."We fully expect more U.S. people will have severe disease, will be hospitalized and might even die. There clearly is a difference between what Mexico is describing and what we're seeing — understanding that is going to be the key, said Dr Joe Bresee, CDC Flu Expert.

At least five people have been hospitalized with the virus and the number of confirmed U.S. cases has risen to 66.The largest concentration of cases in is New York City, where there are 45 confirmed cases.Officials there suspect "many hundreds" of school children have caught the flu.

The virus has been found in five other states, 11 in California, six in Texas, two in Kansas and one each in Indiana and Ohio.Three people in California and two in Texas have been hospitalized.

On the State Level:
More testing is being done here in South Carolina after health officials say there are two probable cases of swine flu in our state. The headmaster of Newberry Academy says the cases are linked to a student trip to Mexico.
State health officials told him a student and a friend of a student tested "probable" after returning from Mexico earlier this month.

The state Department of Health says further testing is being done by the CDC.A local infectious disease practitioner NewsChannel 15 talked with said if you're not feeling well, go see a doctor no matter what.

The faster you learn what you have, the sooner it can be treated.
"If you come in with symptoms of influenza ,it doesn't mean you have swine flu. We'll ask you questions, and about travel and then you'll be tested," said Winona McLamb, RN, CIC from Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Swine Flu Symptoms:
* Fever
* Cough
* Sore Throat
* Body Aches
* Headache
* Chills

The virus is spreading by person to person contact - through coughing or sneezing. The number one prevention tip is to wash your hands thoroughly and often. You cannot get swine flu from eating pork.

[ALOCHONA] Rivers are losing water for a number of possible reasons including the installation of dams and the use of water for agriculture

Some of the developing world's largest rivers including Ganges in South Asia are drying up because of climate change.Researchers from the US-based National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) said this after analysing data combined with computer models to assess river flows across the world.(BSS)

NCAR analysed data of running water supply between 1948 and 2004 in 925 rivers, nearly three quarters of the world's river courses. One-third of these rivers had registered a change in flow and most of them including the Ganges in South Asia, the Niger in West Africa and the Yellow River in China, were dryer, said the research schedule to publish in the American Meteorological Society's Journal of Climate next month.

Rivers are losing water for a number of possible reasons including the installation of dams and the use of water for agriculture, the researchers observed. "But in many cases the decrease in flow is because of climate change, which is altering rainfall patterns and increasing evaporation because of higher temperatures," they said.

They said the flow of water, however, has increased or remained stable in some developing world rivers including the Brahmaputra and China's Yangtze River as around two- thirds of the Himalayan glaciers that feed the basins are receding due to global warming.

"So, the stability or higher flows than in the past may not last long as the Himalayan glaciers are disappearing," they observed. "As well as endangering water supplies, the decreased river flow could affect the world's climate. Less freshwater discharge into the oceans could affect salinity and temperature- driven ocean circulation patterns that in turn play a fundamental role in climate regulation," they said

[ALOCHONA] Bangladesh is a Muslim Country by constitution

Dear brothers & sisters,

Greetings from the heart of Bangladesh.

Few people including so called Shushils (secularist or anti-Islamist or atheist) repeatedly have been claiming like a non-sense that Bangladesh is a secular country! This is nothing but distortion of the truth and history. We would like to mention that being a Muslim country, we have a long historical record of communal harmony among various group of believers.

Let alone the history, please read the Basic Principles of our constitution which stated as below :

http://www.pmo.gov.bd/constitution/part1.htm

PART I

The constitution is started with

"BISMILLAH-AR-RAHIMAN-AR-RAHIM
(In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)]"

"5 [2A. The state religion. The state religion of the Republic is Islam, but other religions may be practiced in peace and harmony in the Republic.]"

http://www.pmo.gov.bd/constitution/part2.htm

"PART II

FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF STATE POLICY

8. Fundamental principles. 9[(1) The principles of absolute trust and faith in the Almighty Allah, nationalism, democracy and socialism meaning economic and social justice, together with the principles derived from them as set out in this Part, shall constitute the fundamental principles of state policy.

(1A). Absolute trust and faith in the Almighty Allah shall be the basis of all actions.]

(2) The principles set out in this Part shall be fundamental to the governance of Bangladesh, shall be applied by the State in the making of laws, shall be a guide to the interpretation of the Constitution and of the other laws of Bangladesh, and shall form the basis of the work of the State and of its citizens, but shall not be judicially enforceable."

Hope the untrue propaganda will be stopped by reading the constitution.

Thanks & Regards,

Mosharraf Khokon

[ALOCHONA] Fw: Indian Beheads Granddaughter For Good Harvest

Indian Beheads Granddaughter For Good Harvest

No, this is not about some 'anti-women' Islamic extremists in Afghanistan, or some fake Taliban in northern Pakistan flogging a girl whom America is using as a pretext to destabilize Pakistan. This is India, the world's biggest graveyard for newborn baby girls who are buried alive in the thousands each year. But you won't hear about it in the American and the British media. Washington and London are two countries that are grooming India to be their new slave-soldier in Asia. And for this purpose, the mainstream media in the two countries is projecting India like never before [how strange that the free and democratic media in Britain and US faithfully mirrors their government's national security objectives?]

This is why you won't see this story in the mainstream American and British media. In fact, I did a non-scientific survey and discovered that only one newspaper in the entire Free World published this story: the Sydney Morning Herald in Australia. The story was not published in Washington or London because it probably hurts the image of a rising power that America and Britain are cultivating for India. Or maybe because mainstream British and American news networks [esp. CNN and BBC] have inducted so many Indian faces that these won't allow such stories about India to come out anyway. The inductions of Indians in CNN and BBC, for example, are highly disproportionate to the numbers of Indians living in both America and England. They are also disproportionate to the global figures. Going by those, there should be more Chinese faces on CNN and BBC. So this is enough to shut up any CNN or BBC official who tries to hide behind excuses such as ethnic diversity, etc.

Everyone should remember that these are the same 'major news networks' that peddled the lies of Bush, Powell, Rumsfeld, Cheney and Rice about Iraq. So here's the story that you won't see in the Anglo-American press. Imagine if this had happened in a Muslim country? Worse still, imagine if this news report about thousands of baby girls killed in India each year was actually about a Muslim country? Or if this video of an American woman and another one about this poor woman being beaten by Indian Hindu terrorists happened in a Muslim country?

Please watch these two last videos, one from America and the other one form India, and see who treats women worse: The Taliban [even if they're fake, in Pakistan's case] or the Americans and the Indians? And then read this story: [BTW, the picture above is of a decomposed body afloat in Ganga, India's most sacred and holy river, where dead bodies are burned and then left to wander.]:

April 28, 2009 - 2:02PM A 10-year-old Indian girl was beheaded by her grandfather, who believed that sowing seeds mixed with her blood would yield a bumper crop. The killing, spurred by age-old superstitions, took place on Sunday in the tribal region of Sambalpur, 450 kilometres west of Bhubaneshwar, the capital of Orissa state, the IANS news agency reported. The barbaric crime was detected after the villagers caught the man, Rajesh Hembram, and handed him over to the police. Hembram, who owned 1.2 hectares of farmland, planned to sow seeds mixed with the blood of his granddaughter on Monday on Akshaya Tritya, a day considered auspicious by Hindus, police said. "He cut off his granddaughter Bernaka Kandulana's head with an axe in a room when nobody was at home and drained her blood into a pot," P.C. Nayak, a police inspector said. "We found some seeds in a steel pot that were mixed with blood," he said. Police said the man was arrested and had admitted his crime.

India has a centuries-old tradition of human sacrifices to appease deities, gain prosperity or ward off evil. Some cases are still reported around the country. In recent years, parents in Orissa sacrificed their two sons on advice of an occult practitioner that it would please the gods and bring them prosperity. Cases of such sacrifices have also been reported from other states such as Uttar Pradesh and the rest of India, including urban areas.
