Re: [ALOCHONA] BDR Carnage: Mobile Call List of Pintu and Jamaat's Razzak Disappeared

A good percentage of mails on this forum are re-posts from different news media. Some of these are from some reputable newspapers and magazines, some are from some quality blogs, also some from not-so-good-quality news media including blogs. I am sure some reports or writings posted on this forum are not necessarily close to the truth, and some are even twisted intentional lies (propaganda).

I personally don't read The Daily Ittefaq on a regular basis although this is still (probably) considered as one of the reputed dailies in Bangladesh. The news item even if partially true should draw attention of the people who still hope to see some closure to the BDR massacre - Thanks to Mr. Sarkar for posting (re-posting) it here.

I am extremely surprised with the reaction from Mr. Wohid towards Mr. Sarkar although all Mr. Sarkar did is re-posted an article from Ittefaq which some people are doing regularly on the forum to make sure we can read it if we want to. I am totally lost with Mr. Wohid's "lecturing" as it yells a lot against Mr. Sarkar and says absolutely nothing against the writing in Ittefaq -- am I missing something here except for the fact that the writing goes against couple of people belonging to certain political parties and that seems to be very hard to swallow for Mr. Wohid? It will be great if Mr. Wohid can point out:

- the "chapabazi" so we know the truth.
- how truth is being killed by Mr. Sarkar or by the report?
- where is the BAKSALite govt? I hear this propaganda noise from few people from certain political party although I have not heard or seen anything from AL led govt to be worried about that.
- all of us know "everythng has a limit" -- what does that really mean in this context here?
- who are the transgressors in this context?
- who are the "lords" here?

I hope truth comes out one day, but I doubt if it will ever come out.

Thanks,

- mashuque

[ALOCHONA] Tipaimukh: Chronicle of deception

Tipaimukh: Chronicle of deception

Mashooq Salehin

People are anxiously witnessing the snail-paced action of the Government in protesting and presenting the adverse consequences of India's Tipaimukh project which Bangladesh will have to face pretty soon. Unfortunately, Water Resource Minister of Sheikh Hasina's cabinet, Ramesh C. Majumder in fact denied knowing about the project. Later he assured that, Bangladesh would measure the adverse effect of this dam after the dam would be in operation.
Majumder added that Dhaka would ask India to compensate on basis of that measurement. Commerce Minister Faruque Khan accused that this issue was being used only to achieve political interest by the Opposition.

   Earthquake and ecology
Several other ministers spoke in the same manner adding that Tipaimukh would not cause any adverse effect in lower riparian region.
But experts opine that construction of this "multipurpose dam" would not only destroy the ecology and environment of northeastern part of Bangladesh, but will also pose a serious threat of earthquake because of its location in a high-risk earthquake zone in the Barak Valley. The people of this nation-state are victims of many-sided conspiracy against this country resulting mainly from the lack of patriotic leadership.

   Government's reluctance
In the history of Bangladesh since independence in 1971, we never witnessed such degradation of leadership, particularly from a ruling party. The Government's reluctance in protesting the construction of Tipaimukh dam shocks us. Yet, AL leaders and their associates are claiming their dedication towards people.

From our experience of Farakka Barrage, I believe we should have a clear understanding of the consequential effect of diverting of river flow, as in the case of the Ganges River. Moreover, simultaneously we should notice the similarities between the strategies and negotiation technique of India over the Farakka and Tipaimukh project.

From the very beginning of the Farakka project India has been claiming that it would eventually bring good prospect for us. It may sound ridiculous to present generation, but that's how our neighbour approached to convince us.
Dr. K.L. Rao, mastermind of the Farakka project, explained how east Bengal would be benefited:

"The reason is this. The Ganga that flows through East Bengal is known as the Padma. The Teesta coming from North Bengal, also runs through East Bengal and is known as Jamuna. In the other area the Brahmaputra is known as Meghna. These three are voluminous rivers and it is the problem of East Bengal... for six months in the year the major portion of East Bengal remains submerged not in knee-deep water but 'double' the height of a man."

   "Entirely an Indian river"
Dr. Rao failed to realise the nature of the largest delta on earth that requires huge amount of sediment every year for its on-going formation. Such misconception was not initiated by the expertise, rather it evolved from the aggressive political ideology of Indian think tank that believed in Nehru doctrine of a utopian India lying between Himalaya and Indian Ocean. The founder Prime Minister of India stated in his "Discovery of India" that, "the Ganga is above all the river of India" -- later echoed by L.K. Rao with an intention to prove illegitimate claim over Ganga while speaking to the Parliament in 1968.

Dr. Rao stated, "After all, the Ganga is an Indian river. It is entirely an Indian river". Such viewpoint regarding the Ganga, which is an international river in various aspects is alarming since it denies the history, culture and heritage of the millions of people living on the bank of the Ganga in Bangladesh.

   Impact on West Bengal
Like many other rivers, Ganga became the symbol and meaning of life to the inhabitants blessed with the stream and sediment on her both sides. As we share the same air, sunlight, monsoon and many other natural resources of the climate of South Asia, the Ganga and all the rivers flowing through this region should be shared by all irrespective of political and national barriers. The concern here associated with such viewpoint is alarming since policy formulation imperils and victimizes the ordinary people regardless of international boundary.

After three decades of building and commissioning of Farakka, there are evidence-based research result coming out indicating adverse effects even on the climate and environment of West Bengal. From the early days of Farakka project, India had followed the strict policy of unilateral decision making - through conceptualization to commissioning the barrage.

   Proposals: 1954 - 58
The Indian government ignored the conventions and rules, and refused to abide by international laws including the "Barcelona Convention and Statute of 1921 on the Regime of Navigable Waterways of International Concern". India also showed no interest in the proposal from Pakistan to conduct a joint survey to evaluate the scheme in upper reaches of the Ganga and the Brahmaputra in 1954.

Pakistan proposed at least three important joint ventures in between 1957 and 1958 including securing the advisory and technical services of a UN body to assist in planning for cooperative development of eastern rivers and conducting examination by experts of the two countries before implementation of any project.

However, India did not agree to any of the proposals, particularly with the idea of the arbitration of a 'third party'. Paternalistic and stubborn attitude of Indian government actually caused nothing but fruitless negotiation that comprised lingering exchange of letters and providing deceitful information to Pakistan. It appears now that, India's strategy was to kill time and to accomplish necessary tasks of pre-construction phase of Farakka Project.

   October 1951
As a matter of fact, Pakistan first came to know about this project from newspaper reports in October 1951. Assuming the adverse effect on East Pakistan, Karachi government requested India in a letter dated 29th October 1951, to consult it before operating any such scheme. India replied to this letter after five months claiming that the project was under preliminary investigation.

However, Pakistan replied to the letter on 8th May 1952 stating that large quantities of water diversion from the Ganga for irrigation in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh would cause great harm to highly agriculture-dependent East Pakistan. It took one year to reply this letter for India which stated that, the project was being investigated. Should we note here that, the first meeting of experts held after nine year long negotiation through letters in 1960. In the second meeting in January 1961, India informed her counterpart that construction of Farakka Barrage had started. No consent from Pakistan was taken before making that announcement. Such unilateral decision did not come up suddenly; rather it was the outcome of Delhi's cool headed political technique of ignoring the protest of Pakistan who was in all respect a legitimate shareholder of Ganges water resources.

In between 1960 and 1968, a series of meetings were held between the experts of the two countries without any substantial result. India's intention of averting to reach a bilateral consensus is now easily understood from the debate over this issue in Lok Sabha session on 6th April in 1961 while questions were raised by the opposition bench to inquire the stand of Indian Government on the protest from Pakistan over Farakka issue. It was also demanded that the message should be make clear to Pakistan that this was a matter of 'unilateral' action. In reply the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of External Affairs S. A. Khan stated:

"It is true that in that note Pakistan Government protested, but as I have said, we will continue with the project in spite of all protest." While he was asked to explain reasoning behind continuation of negotiations if the construction of the project would go on, Mr. Khan replied: "It is good to talk things over in a general way." Such conceit notion actually was substantiated by leaders of the Parliament, as we learn that Mr. Nehru stated in the Lok

Lok Sabha on 19th August 1961:
"We have not allowed it to be stopped or suspended and we do not intend to stop it in anyway."
Thus, negotiation on discussion table remained fruitless as counterpart of Pakistan always sat with precondition that India would not take into account views and opinions of Pakistan regarding Farakka project. Consequently, an expertise team from Pakistan was allowed to see the project.

While asked the reasoning behind allowing such visit of the Pakistani team Dr. K.L. Rao, then the Minister of Irrigation and Power, explained to the Lok Sabha that they were allowed to see that India had already completed two-thirds of the project. Intention of the Indian part was to convince Pakistan that, negotiation over continuation of construction of Farakka barrage would not produce any result as Mr. Rao told the Lok Sabha: "After seeing the project they are convinced that it is over." Invitation for a similar visit has been proposed by Mr. Shiv Shankar Menon, Secretary of external Affairs of Indian Government. He asked Dhaka government to send a delegation to Manipur State to look over the construction site of the proposed Tipaimukh Dam on the Barak River while the construction work has already been started. In his unprecedented surprise visit, Indian foreign secretary attempted to assure the press that Bangladesh's fear of having adverse impact of the dam on the ecology of Bangladesh is baseless.

Though foreign ministry of Bangladesh and Indian High Commission at Dhaka did not disclose the purpose of his visit, Mr. Menon expressed interest on commenting on the burning issues between Dhaka and Delhi. He said, "We don't think it (dam) should have any downstream effect." Indian foreign secretary also emphasized on 'sitting together' with a view to explain their 'plan' and to know our 'fear' and 'worry' - which in his view is a 'normal way between friends'.

From the early days of Farakka project, Indian authority had always provided us with such pledges. In 1961, then Prime Minister of Indian Mr. Nehru told in Lok Sabha:

"It is our view that there should be no real injury caused to Pakistan by this scheme... it is Pakistan's apprehension that they will be affected."
Such effort to convince the co-riparian of Ganges downstream continued even after emergence of Bangladesh. Commissioning of the barrage was accomplished under an ad hoc agreement to test-run the feeder canal of the barrage. Earlier in May 1974, Prime Ministers of India and Bangladesh agreed in the summit to commission Farakka barrage by end of that year. In straight, India informed about commissioning of the Farakka within a certain period, thus Bangladesh was left with no option but accepting the offer. Such a goodwill and notion of friendship we observe from our neighbor with superpower title that the fledging nation could not reach its third birthday before facing such pressure.

   Tipaimukh Dam
India's policy over disclosing the objective of Farakka barrage project from the very beginning is very similar to our present experience. India's claim of building a hydroelectric project in Tipaimukh has a hidden transcript - because it is not only a 'Hydroelectric Dam' it is a 'Multipurpose Dam' project commissioning by India's North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO). As we know the whole scheme also includes building of another big dam at Fulertal in Cachar, 100 kilometers off Bangladesh border in India for irrigation purposes. The barrage will be fed with water through canals. India's state power has exemplified such venal practices earlier - as Government of India did not disclose the real purpose of the Farakka barrage. In order to hoax the real purpose of the irrigation, this project was placed under the "Transportation and Communication" division of the Third Five Year Plan.

In 1961, the Government of India informed the Government of Pakistan that the Farakka Barrage project was undertaken with a view to preserving the Port of Calcutta. However, it sounds very interesting to find that, in 1968, almost after a decade of such statement, Dr. K.L. Rao, the then Irrigation Minister told Lok Sabha, while bashing the critics at the parliament:
"We should look to the destination of Bhagirathi to ensure that the canal and river lower down are ready to take up the water which can be used for Calcutta port. That is a very good suggestion, in fact, we are aware of that." Discovering a good suggestion from the house through a democratic practice should be highly appreciated, but wasn't it very late to conceptualize the 'flushing of Calcutta port' with diverted water of Ganges after eight years of implementation of the project?

   Dasmunshi's assurance
Despite that fact, in September 2005, the then Indian water resources minister of India and JRC co-chairperson Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi reassured Bangladesh that India would not implement any river management project that may adversely affect its neighbor. India, without any consent of Bangladesh completed all preparations to start the construction of Tipaimukh dam by 2006. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was scheduled to lay the foundation stone on 2nd December 2006 which was cancelled later.

Eventually, the construction work was postponed in March 2007 following severe protest from the people and environmentalists within Manipur and neighbouring states of India. Protest of concerned Bangladeshi citizen against the Tipaimukh Dam is in fact result of India's fallacious policy-stand on common-shared river courses - which are in many aspects proved to be contradictory and inconsistence.

   Violation of Article VI
India's unilateral decision to implement Tipaimukh Project is a clear violation of Article VI of the treaty between India and Bangladesh on sharing of the Ganga of 1996. The plan is also a direct violation of the current Berlin Rules on International Water Resources (2004) which asserts the right of every individual to equally access water to sustain life without discrimination and without harming the ecology, even in times of war, regardless of the location of water and whether or not a water resource is shared. Environmentalists from different forums in their opinions expressed concerns that such project will not bring any worthy change to the whole region except many negative impacts like increasing of salinity, erosion of river bank, desertification of arable lands and many more.

India's negative approach in negotiation and paternalistic standpoint demonstrate her intention to repudiate the needs and necessity of lower-riparian share-holder.
Should we mention the example of Narmada Project, which drew a huge controversy even within India? Despite displacement of millions of people due to submergence of agricultural and habitat land, Indian think tank did not pay attention to the protest. We have witnessed violation of human rights during the evacuation and hide-and-seek game of central government.

   Govt's weak foreign policy
Unfortunately, the Bangladesh Government failed to express appropriate concern regarding the Tipaimukh issue. We are agonized to watch the chronicle of deception from Farakka through Tipaimukh. When an elected government apparently denies working for its own nation's interest, the only hope is left for the nation is the effort of its patriot millions with sense of nationalism.

RE: [ALOCHONA] Re: My views of life.

While choosing the word fear grammar was not in my mind. I took the meaning and its implications on a persons mind. Fear is a state of mind when a person seeks shelter from a situation which overcomes his power. His rational thinking does not work, he uses his mind not brain to over come the issue in front him. Fear created by religion nips reason and dogma takes precedence over reason. This is the most violent side of religious fanaticism. Examples are abundant around us.

Emancipation is the child of freedom. Indian spiritualism talked about muki, moksha or nirvana. Are these conditions can be attained in the mountain caves or in the woods only? These are easy ways. The real moksha is here among the multitudes. Among the sounds and bites. Live in the samsar but don't allow samsar to live in you. Freedom from all attachments but not from responsibilities. There we prove our real strength. These are not fallacies, these are achievable goals. We need to find out the synthesis from all anti theses. A truly religious person does not embrace any religion.

Thanks

What is a cult? Fear itself? I never knew fear can be a noun to be a cult. Very interesting cult name is given by Mr. Akbar da.

Freedom is always used in an argument as a propaganda term calling for a need to fight but never heard of freedom is being as nirvana. "You have to fight for freedom" is the way the word is usually used, though not in those words. For example, the oppressors won't grant freedom voluntarily.

Isn't it nirvana a peaceful mental state due to being self-awakening or being enlightened? I heard and read that Buddha had devoted his life almost 40 years which was characterized as nirvana but what freedom has to do with nirvana?

Don't you think, charity-giving can be characterize as one form of nirvana as well? I think, Charity is better form of nirvana than bhramachari and/or lecturing others about nirvana! because words are cheap form of nirvana.

[ALOCHONA] India submits report on continental shelf claim to UNCLCS

BANGLADESH STILL DEAF, DUMB

India submits report on continental shelf claim to UNCLCS

Moinuddin Naser in New York

The Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS) will include the Indian submission of its claim on the Bay of Bengal for discussion in its 25th session to be held in New York in March-April 2010. The Executive Summary of the submission, which was gathered by the Holiday Correspondent, shows that India has claimed that the submission is 'partial' and as such India reserves the right to further extend the claim on the Bay of Bengal.
Though the submission was made on 11May 2009, again India updated it on 27 May in accordance with Article 76, paragraph 8, of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
In this submission India has claimed its right on the limits of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles from the baselines from which the breadth of the territorial sea is measured. It is noted that the Convention entered into force for India on 29 July 1995.
The Executive summary states: "This is a partial submission and, as a coastal state in the Southern part of the Bay of Bengal, India reserves the right to make at a later date, notwithstanding the provisions regarding the 10-year period, a separate submission on the outer limits of its continental shelf, based on the provisions of the Statement of Understanding contained in Annex II to the Final Act of the Third United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea.."

   Bangladesh still mum
However prior to the submission by India, Myanmar submitted the claim, which will be taken for consideration in the 24th session of the CLCS, which will begin in the month of August. Bangladesh is yet to make any objection to the submission by the Myanmar. However as the Indian submission will be taken up for discussion in the 25th session of the commission, Bangladesh will get some additional time to give objection to the claim if there is any.
Meanwhile it is seen that China has already given objection to the Vietnam against its Continental Shelf Submission. There is none in Bangladesh Mission in New York who can be contacted to know about the position of Bangladesh while the Permanent Representative Ismat Jahan is preparing to leave to join her new position in Belgium.

   Serious Indian efforts
The Indian Ministry of Earth Sciences, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, Geological Survey of India, National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research, National Geophysical Research Institute, National Hydrographic Office, National Institute of Oceanography, Oil and National Gas Corporation were involved in preparing the claim, the Executive summary of Indian submission stated.
The summary stated that since India ratified the Convention on June 29, 1995, it is obliged to submit before 13 May 2009 the information on the outer limits of its continental shelf beyond 2009 nautical miles from the baselines from which the breadth of the territorial sea is measured. However the deadline was June 29, 2009 for this submission, but India had given so much emphasis on it that it did not give any chance to raise question about its obligation.

   UNCLOS criteria
It may be mentioned that the United Nation Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) has laid down the scientific and technical criteria for the delineation of the outer limits of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles from the territorial sea baseline of a coastal state.
The submission also mentioned that the claim was submitted pursuant to the provision of the convention, but "as coastal state in the Southern Part of the Bay of Bengal and in pursuance of the provisions of Statement of Understanding, India reserves the right to make a separate second partial submission of information and data to support the outer limits of the continental shelf in accordance with the provision of the statement at a later date, notwithstanding the provisions regarding the 10-year period."
In the submission of continental shelf claim, India intended to establish the outer limits of its continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles from the territorial sea baselines in Easter Offshore and Western offshore regions. The Eastern Offshore region comprises the region of mainland India in the Bay of Bengal and the Western Offshore Region of Andaman Islands and Western offshore region in the Arabian Sea.

   Blocking Bangladesh
In the Bay of Bengal India wants to block Bangladesh by extending its continental shelf on the western side of Andaman Islands and on the eastern side of mainland. In the eastern side the Talpatti island and two gas blocks are located in the Sundarban side, according to knowledgeable source in New York.
The executive summary of the submission pointed out that India has already resolved dispute over maritime boundary with different countries. But the dispute between India and Pakistan, India and Oman and over Bay of Bengal with India-Bangladesh - Myanmar are yet to be resolved. But it is known to all that the Indian institutions like National Institute of Oceanography helped Myanmar in preparing its submission and as such it is known to all that India and Myanmar have outlined a common strategy regarding Bay of Bengal, which aimed at grabbing Bangladesh's right over the Bay of Bengal and its access to international sea conference routes. Incumbent member of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (2007 - Present) Dr S Rajan and former member Dr Naresh Kumar Thakur assisted the preparation of Indian submission. But Bangladesh has got no such expert and still the country is playing a deaf and dumb role in this regard, knowledgeable sources said.

[ALOCHONA] Assassination of Ziaur Rahman and the Aftermath

Assassination of Ziaur Rahman and the Aftermath

This book is a chronology of events surrounding President Zia?s assassination and the aftermath, as well as a brief commentary on Zia?s rise to power. Theauthor, who was Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong at the time of Zia? sassassination, narrates these events from his perspective. It is a riveting account of the last hours of the most powerful man of Bangladesh that time, and the series of events leading to the capture and assassination of another freedom fighter, Maj. Gen. Manzoor.

Zia gave birth to a new slogan?Bangladeshi nationalism with an Islamic flavor. In doing so he also paved the way for the rehabilitation of the religion based political parties and their leaders who had sided with the opponents of Bangladesh liberation. At the end he was able to cobble together a new political party?the Bangladesh Nationalist Party or BNP?which was a potpourri of diverse political elements, leftists, centrists, religious zealots, and deserters from other political parties including the Awami League.

As Zia busied himself with his newly acquired political power and a besotted political party, he drifted from the original power base?the Army, in particular the freedom fighters section that he was aligned with at the beginning. Many of his new political associates were suspects in the eyes of his freedom fighter colleagues for their political past, anti-liberation stand, and their perceived corruption. Zia?s life was cut to a short at the peak of his popularity by elements of the very forces that had catapulted him to power, and had provided him the platform for success.

[ALOCHONA] RAW The Cricket , In Sri Lanka

RAW The Cricket , In Sri Lanka

BY: PREM RAJ

OPENERS-The Jain Commission Report for the Indian government has substantiated that the Indian Intelligence organization, Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) has taken it as its moral enterprise to destabilize her neighbors and also has been responsible for creating circumstances leading to violence within the domestic domain of the South Asian countries.

India̢۪s dream of becoming super power over a night has blessed her insomnia to run in to the shoes of America without realizing, poverty stricken people, social injustices, economic crisis, casting of inferior subjects & minorities indiscrimination, with in her own country as well as trying her utmost to promote terrorism in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, Tibet, Nepal, Pakistan and other states, who are victims of her spineless acts to quote.

As India has no moral strength to face all these countries matching eye ball to eye ball, hence tasks her intelligence agencies especially RAW to carry out this disgraceful act of doing business in contracting the disgruntle lot of people, purchasing their lust for money or the weaknesses to infuse sectarianism, provincialism, linguistic differences and then compel them to conduct heinous acts of killing to create terror in their countries. The range of this money demanding people is from common citizens to the parliamentarians who keep on dancing for an unlimited time for their petty gains, as and when RAW plays the music of violence. In South Asia, RAW & the LTTE are the two illegitimate sons of India, whose hands are coloured with blood of innocent people and where the peace is withering like an autumn leaves.

It was the menace on the part of RAW THE CRICKET to stage a monstrous drama of terrorism in Lahore to shoot at Sri Lankan cricket team. This was purely a shameful act of India̢۪s illegitimate son the Liberation Tigers of Eelam which was fully supported by the RAW, heavily funded and provided with most sophisticated weapons from machine guns to the rocket launchers aiming at the friendship existing between Pakistan & Sri Lanka but see how RAW proposes and God disposes.

LINE & LENGTH

There has been annually placement of funds beyond measure for the RAW. Discretionary grant is favoured with an estimation of 150 million dollars alone to influence operations on the foreign lands. The present boss of â€Å“RAW THE CRICKET” calls it a meager grant and hence has submitted a summary to the government suggesting to increase the graph of money touching at least 300 million dollars because of increase in the opening of more venues like Afghanistan, Balochistan for provisioning of arms, ammunition and money to strengthen Balochistan Liberation Army & in the Frontier province of Pakistan, animating Taliban with the help of CIA and MOSSAD.

The operations conducted by Sri Lankan forces with the help of Pakistan have met with great success while mostly sweeping away top slot of the LTTE. Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetilike of the Sri Lankan Air Force, while talking to the media men acknowledged that Pakistan was one of the few countries which backed Sri Lanka against the LTTE. This is an hour of perplexity for the RAW seeing her illegitimate brother in a state of wretchedness as the LTTE in Sri Lanka is in ravages. India gave birth to LTTE where as â€Å“RAW THE CRICKET” had groomed the bastard to play havoc in the neighbourhood that too for 30 years of long spell. In the past the RAW used to rumour at length that soon LTTE will take over Sri Lanka but it did not and now on the same lines same propaganda being repeated against Pakistan that Taliban are very close to Islamabad and that too will never happen. The line & length of RAW and its innumerable nefarious activities are difficult to assess except its fondness for living in a cemetery is a comical tragedy.

GOOGLY ON LIBERTY

The Liberty Round About is a moon on earth which offers its services by signaling the traffic to ply on the road in a soft silken fashion with its beautiful natural curves. The fragrance of roses intoxicates minds and the grass in green charms the eyes. The fountain with marbling ecstasy in the centre fascinates architectural beauty of the Mughal art. The water falls on the lamp holdings create musical notes and dance with the whispering wind which veils the light in the evening like the bridegroom in her coverings. The gradual soft gradient is very hospitable to the lovelorn. In the second part of the night when the city of Lahore is in a state of somnolence the moon spreads its wings of light on the fountain which glows like a diamond in the ring. And then the silence prevailed all around as if compelling the atmosphere to wear coffin. The guest took a sip of coffee and a puff of cigarette blowing smoke in the air making rings like the Liberty round about and then his eyes dew with tears abused RAW who knows not the meaning of life and beauty. Who would like to stage a drama of killing and blood shed at such a beautiful place with enchanting beauty except RAW THE CRICKET!

On the cool morning of 3rd March 2009, the bus carrying the Sri Lankan cricket team was approaching with the police vans leading to the same Liberty Round About which ensures each vehicle to make its half or complete circle to get the requisite direction. While on the Round About making it turn to set its direction towards Gaddafi Stadium Lahore which was hardly few hundred yards away, surprisingly the volley of fire busted first on to the police van killing five men on the spot and two civilians as well, thus the police van making an obstacle for the bus to continue its journey. After few seconds a rocket launcher was fired to blow up the bus devastatingly which luckily missed the bus and instead hit the electric pole. But the bullets were sprayed continuously to jam the move and in the second phase to lob hand grenades but due to the presence of mind displayed by the bus driver, took a maneuver around the van and rushed to the stadium in the rain of fire. The technique of laying ambush and the operation itself spoke volumes of trained gun men belonging to the notorious group of LTTE lofted by RAW THE CRICKET to play a googly on to a Sri Lankan team but surely that was a cowardice act of a CRICKET to plague the liberty of Pakistan.

THE MATCH

The plan to play a match was prepared by RAW THE CRICKET since January 2009 to use the LTTE members headed by its leader named Vellupillai Prabhakran. CNN, IBN and other media were rife with reports of absconding of the said awe-inspiring LTTE leader to India. It was witnessed on 19th January 2009, that Prabhakran was picked up by two Indian military helicopters when he was positioned in Jaffna. The matter was highlighted in a glimmering manner which India could never expect. Being caught red handedly now India changed its face and resorted playing double game saying that Indian helicopters were sent to help out Sri Lankan forces. Now on the home ground of India the conspiracy of blasting the Sri Lankan team when in Pakistan was planned to destroy the impregnable bond of friendship existing between the two countries.

The ambush team was provided by the leader of the LTTE and later on RAW THE CRICKET took responsibility of training the ambush squad receiving full information of the site from the team players of national cricketers of India and also the Indian consulate was moved to take snaps of the site in question. In actual fact RAW THE CRICKET was trying its best to avenge the episode of Mumbai̢۪s Mayhem with all the assurance given by Pakistan it could not stir its faith. More over India never liked Sri Lanka to have closer ties with Pakistan.

A few weeks later it was traced out by the Sri Lankan intelligence agencies that that Prabhakran was once again in his old hide outs along the Sri Lankan coast. So without wasting any time Sri Lankan forces banged him to death. This came as an unforgettable day for Sri Lanka having killed a terrorist backed by India and nurtured by RAW THE CRICKET. But the game did not cease here as RAW was playing practice matches with the LTTE members before they were actually launched. Grenade throwing, small arms and rocket launcher firing was conducted on ranges. A mock up target was prepared exactly on the lines guided by the photographs provided by the Indian consulate as well as information collected from the new & old hags of cricket. On the fateful day of March when the bus entered in to the orbit of Liberty Round About the fire rained heavily to eliminate the team but Protector is always stronger than the killers. The match could not fetch any fruit to RAW THE CRICKET rather the tragic episode has strengthen more the friendship fastening between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

GAME IS OVER

Sri Lanka and Pakistan have come closer and have clearly identified their common enemy. Indian tricks and chicaneries are dawned and now well known to the countries in South Asia. Is there any country which has not been bitten by the Indian pig called RAW THE CRICKET? Is it fall in the ambit of any ethics that ambassadors of countries like cricket teams are attacked in such a ruthless manner like waging war against an enemy? The need of the time is to remain united, be steadfast and create dynamic versatile force to sort out the bastard India & her illegitimate son RAW THE CRICKET because their game is over.

[ALOCHONA] Re: BDR Carnage: Mobile Call List of Pintu and Jamaat's Razzak Disappeared

Wohid Sab, you sounded pissed.  There is also strong resemblance between your posting and the way Al Badr chief Nizami is talking lately.  Why don't you make your Rajakari chapabaji and vent your frustration to Ittefaq?  They are the ones who published it.  Why don't you explain it to them and CID why those two mobile companies removed call lists of only Pintu and Razzak for those last few days in February since you are the only one who carries the truth?

If a lot of right-wing extremists can post so many garbage from all types of garbage sources, you cannot even stand one posting from another viewpoint, then isn't it super Munafeqi when you blame somebody as Baksalist unjustly?  You sound far worse than a genuine Baksalist.   A Munafeq is the one who holds somebody to such standard that he himself fails to maintain.   The real truth will come out and the real transgressors (your lord Jamaati leaders) will face the justice insha-Allah very soon.  Furthermore, adding injury to insult they have been abandoned by all of their former masters and creators (i.e., USA, Saudi, and pitiful Pakistan).  Keep your cool man, otherwise how can you survive the war crime trial?

[ALOCHONA] Good Read - Interesting Analysis on IRAN

The Leaders of Iran's 'Election Coup'

By MUHAMMAD SAHIMI in Los Angeles

14 June 2009

[TEHRAN BUREAU] The rigged presidential election in Iran — a coup d'etat, according to Mohsen Makhmalbaf, a spokesman for the main reformist challenger Mir Hossein Mousavi and other analysts — has prompted protests both inside and outside Iran. There is, however, little understanding about the ideology and motivation behind the operation.

The coup leaders represent the second generation of Iran's revolutionaries. They tend to be in their early to mid-fifties, so they were young at the time of the Iranian revolution of 1978-1979. They all supported the Revolution, and most of them joined Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) almost immediately after the Revolution that toppled Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi's regime in February 1979. They fervently supported the young revolutionary government, and then fought two fierce wars in the 1980s under the command of their clerical masters — Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, and Hojjatol-eslams Ali Khamenei (the present Supreme Leader) and Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani (the former President), and others. [Hojjatol-eslam is a clerical ranking lower than an ayatollah.]

The young revolutionaries fought against far better financed Iraqi forces for eight years, expelled them from all of the Iranian territory occupied by Saddam Hussein's forces, and ended the war in a stalemate, which was a great achievement for Iran considering its international isolation while Iraq was supported by the West and the Soviet Union.

Domestically, the young revolutionaries fought a bloody war with the forces of Mojahedin-e Khalgh Organization (MKO), an armed Islamic leftist group that had fought against the Shah's regime. After the MKO began assassinating Iran's revolutionary leaders in June 1981, the young revolutionaries and the IRGC waged a bloody battle with them as well, executing MKO members and sympathizers by the thousands, and forcing them into exile in Iraq, where they collaborated with Saddam Hussein's regime in its war with Iran.

At the same time, exploiting the threats to Iran's national security as their excuse, the young revolutionaries helped their clerical masters impose extreme political repression in Iran. All of the independent newspapers and publications were shut down, and almost all political groups were banned, save those that were subserviently loyal to the clerical establishment.

The result of the repression was the effective elimination of all secular groups from Iran's political scene. At the time, there was no great resentment expressed by the population at large. The country was at war with a powerful external enemy supported by the West and the Soviet Union, while at the same time, the MKO was also carrying out assassinations internally. But the elimination of the secular political forces was a terrible blow to Iran's political development.

After the war with Iraq ended in 1988, thousands of political prisoners were executed in the summer of 1988. Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini passed away in June 1989, and Iran began to gradually recover from casualties, both economically and politically. The economic reconstruction was led by Mr. Rafsanjani, then president.

The young revolutionaries then broke off into two camps, generally speaking. In one camp were those who believed that the country needed a political opening and a relaxation from the extreme repression that existed in the 1980s. This group included not only those who had fought the war with Iraq, but had also carried out the fight with the MKO. Many of them were members of the intelligence apparatus, which gave them a realistic assessment of what the country's needs politically. Members of this group were mostly Islamic leftists, and were instrumental in the birth of the reform movement in the 1990s. They are still active in the reformist camp, and include such prominent reformists as Dr. Saeed Hajjarian, Mohsen Armin, and Dr. Ali Reza Alavi Tabar, all leading reformist strategists.

The young revolutionaries in the second camp remained within the ranks of IRGC. By the early 1990s, they had risen up to command important positions within the Guard. People such as Major General Mohammad Ali (Aziz) Jafari, the top IRGC commander; Brigadier General Yadollah Javani, the head of the IRGC's political directorate; and Brigadier General Ali Reza Afshar, the deputy Interior Minister, belonged to this group. Some of the second-generation revolutionaries of this camp joined the government, including Ezatollah Zarghami, who runs the Islamic Republic National Radio and Television, and Mr. Ahmadinejad. These were the right-wing revolutionaries.

The death of Ayatollah Khomeini had another long-term consequence whose effect is felt today. His death allowed the ultra-right reactionary clerics to gradually make a comeback in Iran's political scene. Such clerics belonged to the Hojjatiyeh Society. Founded in 1954 by Sheikh Mahmoud Halabi as an Islamic organization opposed to the Bahai faith and the Sunni sect of Islam, the Hojjatiyeh was penetrated by SAVAK, the Shah's dreaded security agency in the 1960s and 70s, which used it as a buffer against the spread of Communism in Iran.

Hojjatiyeh members believe, as most Shiites do, that the Mahdi, the Shiites 12th and last Imam, will come back some day to save the world from corruption. But, they also believe that they should "prepare" society for Mahdi's return. In the early days of the Hojjatiyeh, its adherents believed that a chaotic society would provide the best conditions for the return of Mahdi, a view that is rejected by most Shiites.

The Hojjatiyeh did not participate in the 1979 Revolution. In fact, it also actively opposed it. At that time, they believed in group leadership and, therefore, they also opposed Ayatollah Khomeini's concept of Valaayat-e Faghih (governance of the Islamic jurist), which is the backbone of Iran's Constitution and bestows upon the Supreme Leader most of the constitutional power. Thus, Ayatollah Khomeini banned them in 1983 and said famously about them, "they cannot even run a bakery, let alone a country." Hojjatiyeh went underground and patiently waited to make its comeback.

When the Hojjatiyeh started to make a comeback in the 1990s, its member no longer used that name. In fact, some of them even denied that they belonged to the Hojjatiyeh. Instead of believing in a chaotic society for the return of the Mahdi, they began advocating an Islamic Government led by an unelected Supreme Leader, rather than an Islamic Republic. Their present leader is Ayatollah Mohammad Taghi Mesbah Yazdi, a hard-liner who has openly opposed any elections. Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi issued a Fatwa two weeks ago saying that if the achievements of Mr. Ahmadinejad in spreading Islamic values around the world, it is proper to do what it takes to re-elect him, implying that fraud and cheating are allowed (a view which has been rejected by other Ayatollahs). He once said, It does not matter what people think. They are ignorant sheep.

Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi believes that sovereignty does not reside with the people — it resides with God. He also believes that the Supreme Leader is selected by God and is Mahdi's deputy in his absence. In his opinion, the task of the ayatollahs in the Assembly of Experts (AE), a constitutional body that appoints the Supreme Leader and monitors his performance (and can even dismiss him), is to discover who the selected Leader is. He believes people must never question the Supreme Leader and obey him absolutely. He is currently a member of the AE. Former reformist president Mohammad Khatami has referred to Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi's followers as shallow-thinking traditionalists with Stone-Age backwardness.

Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi's base of power is the Haghani seminary in Qom that was founded in 1964 under the name Montazeriyeh seminary; it was renamed after Mr. Haghani Zanjani, a wealthy merchant with connections to the Hojjatiyeh, endowed the seminary. His disciples include the Intelligence Minister Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejehei (a graduate of the Haghani), Mojtaba Hashemi Samareh (a senior aid to Mr. Ahmadinejad), and Mr. Ahmadinejad himself. In fact, all of Iran's Intelligence Ministers since the 1979 Revolution are graduates of the Haghani.

After Ayatollah Khomeini's death, in order to create a political cover for himself and his followers and counter the accusations that he had opposed the Revolution and Ayatollah Khomeini, Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi also founded the Imam Khomeini Educational Institute in Qom — even though he opposed the Ayatollah and had turned down the invitation of his students to join the Revolution — and publishes a weekly, Partow-e Sokhan. He is the spiritual leader of many of the top commanders of the IRGC. The Basij militia, a paramilitary group controlled by the IRGC, has also been deeply penetrated by his disciples as well, as has been the Judiciary. Ayatollah Khomeini's chief of staff, Ayatollah Ahmad Tavassoli, said after the election of Mr. Ahmadinejad in 2005 that, "the executive branch of the Iranian government, as well as the troops of the IRGC, have been hijacked by the Hojjatiyeh."

Ever since he was elected the President in 2005, Mr. Ahmadinejad has repeatedly spoken about the "Islamic Government of Iran," rather than the "Islamic Republic of Iran," as well as the return of Mahdi, hence advocating Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi's views. Followers of the Ayatollah make up an important segment of Mr. Ahmadinejad's supporters. He has also repeatedly accused Mr. Rafsanjani and other first-generation revolutionaries of being corrupt, and has claimed that he knows of thousands of corruption cases, mostly pointing to first-generation leaders, although he has never ever presented any concrete evidence. Thus, he has been sending signals of what is to come (see below).

In Iran the elections are supervised by the Interior Ministry. There is no independent organization for the elections. The Interior Minister, Mr. Sadegh Mahsouli, and his principal deputy for the elections, Mr. Kamran Daneshjou, are both close aids and friends of Mr. Ahmadinejad and former commanders in the IRGC. Many of the provincial governors who also play important roles in the elections are former military men. Mr. Mahsouli had actually come out in support of his old friend.

Ever since General Jafari was appointed the top commander of the IRGC, he has been warning against internal dissent and internal "enemies," clearly implicating the reformist/democratic groups. He even re-organized the IRGC to better respond to domestic disturbances.

In the last week of the campaign, signals started emanating from the high command of the IRGC that it was not happy with developments. General Javani warned on June 8 in Sobh-e Saadegh (True Dawn), the weekly published for the armed forces, that the high command of the IRGC considers the campaign of Messrs Mousavi and Karroubi tantamount to preparing for a "velvet revolution." He warned that the IRGC "will kill it [the velvet revolution] at its inception." Kayhan, the newspaper that acts as a public mouthpiece for the IRGC/security forces, also warned of a colored revolution. This was a clear signal something was being planned behind the scenes to prevent a victory by a reformist candidate. The leaders and ideologues behind the election coup were none other than second-generation revolutionaries, mostly from the IRGC, whose spiritual leader is Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi.

The goals behind the coup include the following:

The first goal is to purge first-generation revolutionary leaders (with the exception of Ayatollah Khamenei). The main target here is former president Rafsanjani, a powerful politician who heads two important Constitutional bodies, the Assembly of Experts (AE), and the Expediency Council that arbitrates the differences between the Majles (parliament) and the Guardian Council. Also included in this group are Mr. Ali Akbar Nategh Nouri, a mid-ranking cleric, former Speaker of the Majles, and a strong critic of Mr. Ahmadinejad; Mr. Mahdi Karroubi, the second reformist candidate in the election and a disciple of Ayatollah Khomeini; and Mr. Mir Hossein Mousavi, the main reformist candidate, and Iran's Prime Minister in the 1980s.

Why do they want them out of the scene? For two reasons. One is that the coup leaders consider themselves — and rightly so — as the saviors of Iran. They are the ones who fought Iraq for eight years. Secondly, at least part of the IRGC high command wishes Iran to be in a perpetual revolutionary state, but believes that the first-generation of revolutionaries have sold out the ideals of the 1979 Revolution.

In his "victory" speech on Sunday, Mr. Ahmadinejad never once mentioned Ayatollah Khomeini, the Islamic Republic, or even Ayatollah Khamenei, his main supporter. The significance of the intentional omissions should not be missed. Just as Joseph Stalin and Deng Xiaoping kept Vladimir Lenin's and Mao Zedong's pictures everywhere, they always acted in the opposite way of what they appeared to be advocating; Iran's second-generation revolutionaries will keep Ayatollah Khomeini's pictures everywhere, but will act against his teachings, including his most famous saying,

The scale [for people's acceptance of a politician] is people's vote.

The second goal of second-generation revolutionaries is moving the country closer to an "Islamic Government," and further away from an "Islamic Republic." This is done by making elections a meaningless process by resortign to any means available, including rigging and manipulation. This move has marginalized reformist and democratic groups in Iran.

The third goal is to start preparations for the eventual successor to Ayatollah Khamenei. He is known to be ill. By accusing Mr. Rafsanjani of corruption, the second-generation revolutionaries wish to eliminate him — the head of the Assembly of Experts appoints the Supreme Leader — as the natural successor of Ayatollah Khamenei, hence paving the way for Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi who is a member of the AE. Everything appeared to have been planned well in advance, but the coup leaders did not expect the people to stand up to them.

This is a pivotal moment in Iran's history. If the reformists and the Iranian people cannot reverse the outcome of Iran's rigged elections, Iran will enter a dark period of dictatorship, with no light at the end of the tunnel. The country will be controlled completely by the military/security forces, with an unelected Supreme Leader as its titular head, and no elections (or extremely meaningless ones). This would be a terrible development for the rest of the world as well.
