RE: [mukto-mona] BNP, Jamaat attack Hindu village in Jessore

In the name of Islamic politics attacking other believers is clearly un-Islamic and contrary to the Prophet (SW)'s style and norm of social practice. Therefore, The Jamatis are doing actions directly against the teachings of our Prophet.
All pious Muslims duty is to resist them in all means.

Awami League should focus on the point that only 5 - 6% religious minorities were able to come to the polling station, even in a 90% Hindu populated areas. In spite of that meager turn up, Hindu villages were not spared of attacks by BNP/Jamat hoodlums; they have gutted more than 10 houses, and ransacked and looted hundreds of houses. Hindus swam across the river to save their lives. I am not sure how conscious people still find reasons to support BNP/Jamat.

If this is the situation - how could anyone expect a large voter presence in the polling stations? But, this situation did not stop many Bangladeshi intellectuals to conclude that - people have rejected the polling initiative of the current government. Amazing phenomena are unfolding in front of our eyes.

BNP, Jamaat attack Hindu village in Jessore
BNP-Jamaat activists vandalised and looted 130 houses and torched 10 others at a Hindu village in Abhaynagar upazila of Jessore tonight hours after the end of voting in 10th parliamentary polls.
The mayhem started as two men -- Biswanath Sarkar and Shyamol Sarkar -- of Chapatola Malopara village, went to the Chapatola Aliya Madrasa polling centre earlier on the day, ignoring the opposition's embargo, reports our Jessore correspondent quoting Emdad Hossain, officer-in-charge of Abhaynagar Police Station.
More than 200 activists of BNP and Jamaat, led by local opposition leader Ariful Aksu and Kashem Ali, entered the village around 6:00pm blasting 15 crude bombs and injured Biswanath and Shyamol, the police official added.
The appalled villagers swam across the adjacent Bhairab river and took shelter on the other side at Diyapara village to escape the brutal attack, the OC said.
Agitated activists then vandalised and looted at least 130 houses and set fire on 10 others, he said.
On information, the joint forces rushed to the spot around 9:00pm and brought the situation under control, the OC added.
The joint forces have started a drive to find the miscreants who were involved in the atrocity.

A handful of Hindus cast their votes in Lalmonirhat and Satkhira yesterday as the majority of the community there either feared attacks by Jamaat-Shibir or were unhappy with the ruling party's faillure in protecting them.
The two constituencies of Lalmonirhat, where the voting took place spread over the sadar, Hatibandha and Patgram upazilas. Minorities in these areas have recently come under attack by Jamaat-Shibir men.
At Ghoshpara village in Patgram, only 10-12 out of 280 voters exercised their franchise in the 10th national polls.
"The remaining voters did not turn out as they were under threat from Jamaat-Shibir men in the village," said Rajani Kanto Ghosh, a voter aged 48.
He added he had stayed at home all day in fear of attacks.
Besides, Rajani said, he had no interest in the election because the ruling Awami League had not extended its support to the Hindus even after November 28 and December 15 attacks.
Alleged Jamaat-Shibir activists beat up at least 12 women and children and looted and torched at least five shops and two houses in Ghoshpara village on November 28 during a BNP-led opposition's countrywide blockade. At least 55 Hindu families fled the area on December 15 following threats and attacks.    Sindurmoti village in Lalmonirhat has 4,000 voters, 90 percent of which are Hindus but not a single vote was cast at Sindurmoti Government Primary School polling centre, reported our correspondent.
At Bawra village of Patgram upazila, some 25 Hindus cast their votes whereas the total number of minority voters is 300.
Local community leader Niharanjan Das, 56, told The Daily Star that they had not gone out to vote fearing attacks by opposition men, especially Jamaat-Shibir.
Gopal Chandra Barman, the general secretary of district Puja Udjapan Parishad in Lalmonirhat, claimed that only 4 to 5 percent of the total Hindu voters excercised their franchise.
Similar cases were reported from Satkhira.
At Godaghata Government Primary School in Satkhira's Shibpur union, not a single voter was seen at 4:00pm, reported our correspondent.
The presiding officer of the polling station said opposition men had blasted cocktails there at dawn. The centre had been patially burnt the day before.
A farmer passing by, Aftab hossain said,"They [Jamaat-Shibir] threatened us with dire consequences if we go and vote. Why get into all the hassles?"
Presiding officer Azizur Rahman of Agordari Kamil Madrassa in the same village said that not a single vote had been cast though he had a list of 1,876 voters.
"How will voters of these areas cast their votes? The Hindus fled because they had been targeted by Jamaat-Shibir men. And those, who belong to Jamaat-Shibir, are on the run from the joint forces," said Lavlu Rahman of the area.
Meanwhile, two houses of Hindu families in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi were burnt down Saturday night.
An attack on a larger scale was made in Dinajpur on the minority community around 6.00pm yesterday, in which 30 shops, 65 houses, and paddies were torched.

RE: [mukto-mona] নারায়ণগঞ্জে ভোট উৎসব !!!!!!

Congratulations the people of Bangladesh! Under the circumstances, which were truly horrendously adversarial, 57% (early average figure) turnout is very good indeed! Did you know that in the U S A that percentage is about the average normal electoral turnout?

Re: [mukto-mona] Fwd: দাউদ হায়দার, বার্লিন থেকে

Talk shows in nTV (BNP TV station) are spewing fire over the election; they have been claiming massive vote-rigging everywhere, and also showing, over and over, that - many independent candidates withdrew their candidacy in the middle of the polling due to massive vote-rigging. None of these makes sense to me.

I cannot find logic behind the need for vote-rigging by Awami League; they have secured enough seats uncontested to form government, due to BNP withdrawal from election.  Therefore, it matters very little how this election goes. Also, Awami League has taken a challenge to prove that free and fair election can be arranged under this government. Why would they – humiliate themselves for no reason at all?

So, I came to this conclusion that - these talk-show elites must be biased towards BNP/Jamat, and those independent candidates who withdrew must have realized that - they will lose. They could be BNP/Jamat leaning independent candidates also, and they are now joining the BNP/Jamat propaganda van wagon. By the way, many other independent candidates have been declared as winners already.

Most of the Bangladeshi politicians and talk show elites are prone to duplicity; they can change color anytime; very little is real in politics there. Talk show elites were supporting the trial, but also bashed Awami League for this election. They also believe that BNP will continue the trial, meaning Jamat will let BNP continue the trial also. I cannot make the head and tail of these talks and talk show pundits in Bangladesh.

Voters' turnout 20-30%, not bad.  Election is legitimate.  If BNP-Jamat violence were not there, turn out could be 60%. Surely, opposition has the right to boycott an election; but they don't have the right to oppose it, or bomb it or targeted killings etc.  Due to violence 150 centers election rescheduled on 24th Jan.  Lets' see what happened next, but we can't allow Islamic militants to grab power. We want to see the trial of war criminals continued and execution of judgments.
This morning one of my friends (JH) called from Kuwait, who is not an AL but a staunch anti-Jamat and told that, 'I am not supporting AL, but I am against BNP-Jamat'. He told that, AL never recognize its friends & allies and thus end up with mess. My friend also told a very correct point which is, Pro-liberation forces are confused now and in a fix what to do!  He did not forget to mention that, BNP-Jamat is not only bad for Bangladesh, its worse for the modern civilization. Another friend sent me an English message, pasted below. See Daud Haider's message in Bangla, which also says west or America will have no headache in Bangladesh's internal affairs and if they do have, then we will resist.  See my last article in Bhorer kagoj, published 3rd Jan 2014. http://www.bhorerkagoj.net/new/blog/2014/01/03/154590.php
Finally, the 10th national election paves the way of 11th national election at an earliest date. Let's get ready for that.

Political disasters are continued after election in Bangladesh

Thousands of Bengali Hindu people are staying as refugees in India

From Bangladesh, January 05, 2014

Thousands of Bengali Hindu people are Staying as refugees in India for the violence of JAMAYAT and POLICE. The Minor Hindu people are suffering most for the unstable political conditions of Bangladesh. The JAMAYAT workers are insisting minor community people to join the present anti-government revolution of Bangladesh. They are also beating the minority people if they refuse them to join in. Even minority women are suffering as well. On the other hand if the threatened minor people join the revolution, police are searching their homes, but they are acting infernal in the name of searching. These inhuman deeds are occurring in the border area of Bangladesh specifically in Shatkheera & Khulna district. As a result Bangladeshi Hindu people already have started going to nearby country India, specifically in 24 parganas a district of west Bengal, India. A statistic said that, last month about 2 thousands people had went Hakimpur, a border area of Shwarupnagar of 24 parganas by crossing thorny wairs & Sonai river. In India, they are passing insecure life as the entered India in illegal way. They are passing a police escaping life. Maximum Bangladeshi Hindus are staing in their relatives' house or in rental homes. Analysts are saying if the political disasters are continued, this time the no. of refugee will break the record of 1971....
