[Hope for the best ...]

Expressing a different opinion is alright. But when someone calls others irrational, what kind of rationality does he have?

Look, if we, all agree with each other in every issue, that would be a real death sentence for this forum. I would avoid calling names unless a true blasphemy had been committed. Prof. Chakrabarty and many others see things little differently and that should be respected even we do not agree with those views.

It is good to know that a blockhead named Chakrabarty is rational. He defends Islamic traditions like a mufti and condemns Hindu traditions even more than a mufti would. For years, I have advised him to prostrate towards Mecca, perform Hajj complete with rituals of stoning the devils and others.
When secularism is practiced in a way as in India, fundamentalism of the majority results. In secular India, appeasing the minorities has reached to such height that even the Ramkrishna cult wanted to be treated as religious minority. Secularism is not bowing down to vote banks guided by medieval mindset.

Even secular Scandinavians started to firebomb Islamic mosques. Where these kind of hatred coming from?

Little appeasement is OK but the practice has become too vulgar and obscene in many secular countries because politicians thought they could push their secular supporters harder and harder. Now, that has finally backfired and communal parties are coming back everywhere with full force. It is only matter of time when National Front would be getting 20-30% of the popular votes in Europe. I can conclude that this is not happening in the vacuum.

Let me come to the point. Depending on the demographic composition of the population,  politics of appeasement may become an essential strategy of a political party. Sometimes it is not appeasement, it is simply compromising with the evil forces. You are pointing finger to the secular forces, but you may remember that Vajpayee was in power for the full term. Could he be courageous to take a bold step? Probably not. He was an experienced politically wise man but he also failed in this respect. What did Modi do? Before election he distributed Islamic caps and borkhas? Now he has majority in the parliament. Let us see what he can do about possible uniform laws. It is a challenge for the leaders in a multilingual, multi religious, multi tribal, and multi in every respect. Moreover he has his own Hindutvabadi agenda for implementation of some of which he has to spend some time. Nathuram Godse project is one of them.

Be it mandatory or permissible-- it does not matter. No question should arise to marry a girl at a very early age. Many countries including India have laws not allowing to marry girls under certain age. This makes Gouridan illegal in India. As far as I know a certain section of the Ulema opposes this law as a result of which the Moslems are not affected by this legal restriction.

Secularism is essential in a democratic country, like India. Most people think secularism is either freedom of or from religion. Secularism is none of them; it simply means equal treatment from the state for all religions. That's all. In fact, if need be, secularism can control certain religious activities to achieve equitable rights across the religious spectra. But, problem arises when the state starts to apply secularism selectively, and play vote bank politics with it, as occurred in India for decades under the successive Congress governments.

Under congress periods, religious proselytization has been carried out by
the minority religious groups only, and mostly Hindus were targeted in those religious conversions. Majority religious group never participated or allowed to participate in this endeavor. Now, Hindus and Sikhs started to participate in the game. Even though it is already late, real secularism may be coming to India, under this government. So, those who are recently crying that - secularism are under attack in India can stop now.

According to Hindu scripture, if a girl sees her menstrual blood before wedding, her father would be condemned to hell after death. Gouridan occurred before the age of eight. Mrinalini Devi, wife of Tagore, gave birth to her first child by the age of twelve. By the contemporary law, Tagore would be in jail for statutory rape. Child marriage is Sunnah, as she is not used as food, I am not sure if the word halal is appropriate or not.

It is true, child marriage is also present in the Hindu society, but I do not know of any Hindus religious scripture advocating this practice, as it is in case of Islam. That's the point being discussed here.
I am sure, Mr. Chowdhury and Chakraborty know that very well, but they are trying to whitewash the fact by diverting discussion into other directions. The question is – why are they trying to cover up this unholy practice? This practice is a child molestation - no matter who says it is halal, and it cannot be supported.

Mr. Chaudhury's problem is that he becomes defensive without understanding the subject. You talk about child marriage being endorsed by a grand mufti but he takes that as insult on Islam? Mr. Chaudhury brings Delhi's rape victims as an antidote to the child marriage argument. So, he basically justifies both criminal acts? Odd indeed!

If you kill a human or if you steal money from bank then I can not call you a killer or thief?  Is that what you are telling about the so called "demeaning" or "criticizing" Islam or Prophet?  Show me which item I have told you which is not true! Show me please, would you?

If you and your mostly Hindu cohorts can demeam Islam, humiliate Muslims and criticise Holy Qur'an, then why can't I point out with evidences the heinous, barbaric, inhuman and criminal activities committed by your Indian friends under the influence of Geeta or Bedh Bakka? If you or your friends can criticise the birth place of Islam, Mecca and Holy Prophet (SWS), then why can't I talk about India, the birth place of the Hindu religion and Priests? If you can write against Allah, then why can't I do the same against your god and goddesses?
I do not have any problem if you or your friends worship man made Deity or God, glamorous goddesses or thirty three crore gods/goddesses as long as you do that peacefully and wit
