[mukto-mona] Re: Use of A-Bomb over Japan by the allied force in 1945.

It's an issue that will keep coming up. And it's never easy to take sides on issues that caused such massive human tragedies. What surprises me most is that those, who are most vocal in condemnation of the US for dropping nuclear bombs on Japan, never say word about another 100-times more people who died in other forms of atrocities -- as if those 100-times more lives had no value.

The US, reluctant to get involved in the war if not Japan's Pearl Harbour bombing, lost some 500,000 soldiers, larger than the total US military personnel strength of ~400,000 in 1940. Would any other country would have done otherwise had they have a nuclear bomb at hand? Probably some countries would have, but I'm feel confident that Russia, Germany or Japan would not have.

Another point: if the US-allies had to make Japan surrender unconditionally by dropping traditional bombs on its cities like in Germany, would it have cost fewer human lives? It's impossible to predict it, but if Japan would have stood to the emperor's promise to fight to the last man, military or civilian -- it would certainly have cost many times more lives. And with the Kamikaze tactic in operation, we don't know how extensive would have been the losses on the allied side?

Nonetheless, the US--the nuclear-bombing villain of the world, will have to leave with this stigma.

Yes, you make some good points. We all agree that the good force had prevailed at the end. Had Germans/Japanese taken over the world, the rest of 20th century would have been totally different and disastrous. The question is whether Germany and Japan could have tamed the whole world with oppression? Most likely not! The war would have lingered to another decade or so wiping out half of world human populations?

Did atomic bombs do the trick? There, I am not so sure. Since Germans capitulated unconditionally, it was only matter of time that Japanese would have taken the same route with Russians knocking at their door. Russians were also holding half of European landmass with the aim of establishing new Soviet satellites right at the heart of Europe. I think, US strategy was to kill two birds with single stone. Dismantle the Japanese war machine with a stern warning towards the resurgent communist Russia. Do not mess with us!

We all know what followed. Who could make bigger bombs? Who could land on the moon?

Chilling powerful video!

To All: Our subject of discussion is a 70 year old historical event. This intellectual discussion will help us to learn about this giant human historical event happened during the middle of 20th Century time. I urge you to stay in the subject matter only, and please do not engage in any sorts of personal attacks to anybody. Thanks.

Gist of our discussions:  "Hiroshima Atom-bombings by USA successfully stopped the WWII and saved the humanity of entire world. In fact, America along with allied forces saved the humanity in 1945. Fact is: Japan never asked for any apology from America, period."

Historical background: Use of A-Bomb over Japan to stop the WWII was necessary, though, to many people, this action by the Allied Force remains still highly controversial which has generated many conspiracy theories as usual! I do believe this is mainly because of ignorance about the correct knowledge about the WWII, and also due to the unnecessary suspicions/doubts about the only civilized American super power in the history of our planet earth. WWII happened almost 70 years back and this a history now. This subject will be very difficult to discuss because, most of our generations either did not yet born, or were a baby at that time of mid-twentieth Century time. Actually, talking about WWII is somewhat like the Bengali adage: Kanar Hathi Dhekha [Seeing Elephant by some blind-men]. Therefore, we shall have to talk about WWII from the real Historical sources only.

Why America Nuked Japan in 1945:

Now why America had to drop A-Bomb over Japan?  Briefl History: Hitler's Germany, Japan, and Italy together wanted to take entire world and rule it by themselves. A living hell was created by these three invaders and they have occupied almost entire world. America was not at war at the beginning until Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. America was actually forced to join the WWII. America, Britain, France and rest of the world formed coalition against these three aggressors, which was known as Allied Force (AF). This AF Force has saved the world and mankind from sure slavery. By 5 long years of bloody resistance by the Allied Force—Germany and Italy was defeated and both Italy and Germany were surrendered to the Allied Force. But, Japan was still fighting in South East Asia. America and rest of the world was already tired of this war (America already lost half a million soldiers (dead), and another I million injured or maimed) but Japan was still killing tens of thousands of Allied soldiers by Kama Kazi suicide pilots in the pacific ocean, sinking dozens of Allied ships daily. America was giving stern warning to Japan but they never hid and continued their Kamakazi actions. Finally, Allied commander agreed to punish Japan and dropped just two A-Bombs only to stop Japan. Japan was so crazy war-mongering nation that, even after the devastation of Hiroshima by the first A-bomb, the Japan Imperial Army was adamant to continue their fight to the last man. Only it was civilians who wanted to surrender immediately. But, Imperial Army were still continued their Kamkazi Suicide Bombings in the pacific ocean sinking dozens of Allied battle ships daily. Finally, just after one week, second A-Bomb was dropped over Nagashai after which Japan surrendered immediately and unconditionally.

Now, is there any difference between the death of human beings by A-Bombs vs, loosing human lives by the other weapons of war? Below is one such summarized comment from another good article. Let us examine: This is a quote from one article: "The WWII resulted in 55-60 millions deaths (Italy/Germany/Japan ~9-10 millions), mostly from those countries that were absolutely innocent. To me, killing 50 millions – by knife, gassing, daisy-cutters, atomic bomb or by whatsoever manner – means 50 millions. No more and no less. So death of ~220,000 during and in the aftermath of Hiroshima bombing means just 220,000 – not more, nor less. This 220,000 is a "tiny figure" as compared to the 55-60 millions. As a human being I definitely have lot more sympathy for those absolutely innocent 45-50 millions of people who were brutally murdered by the murderous tyrants in WWII. I also could not have a lot of sympathy for those tiny 220,000 Japanese who were cheering the Japanese army to go around the Asia-Pacific region to murder and rape millions of absolutely innocent people. On the other hand, the US's conventional bombing killed ~150,000 people in a single night's bombing in Tokyo. I have exactly the same amount of sympathy for those 150,000 and the ~150,000 that were killed in Hiroshima atom bombing and in its aftermath. I probably have more empathy for those killed in Tokyo which may have been more agonizing than the split-second actions of the atom bomb. Indeed, it is the more agonizing, conventional bombing which killed tens of millions of absolutely innocent people – there aren't many sympathizers for the agonizing deaths amongst the so-called humanists who come in the forms of Islamists, leftists/communists and of course, many Desi patriots. There is no dearth of over-enthusiastic respondent to call me a sick person. But I surely see an infantile sickness in those people."

Now two quotes from the article attached:

"If someone would question me: Was it more supportable for the US to go for the ground invasion? I will say a "no" – if not an "emphatic no". As a Bangladeshi (then Indian), I would say "no" because the Japanese had just started bombing parts of Bengal including Calcutta and Chittagang. I feel chillingly terrified when I hear that the German invasion of France resulted in 200,000 illegitimate children born out of the massive rapes of French women by the German army."

"Ignoring whatsoever might have been the consequence of our own contribution in the WW-II, it is the American's landing in the Asia pacific which saved our mothers and sisters from mass rapes, saved us from loss of lives of our countrymen and from destruction of our country. I say, "Thank you America" on this very day of the 60th anniversary of Hiroshima bombing."

My conclusionI do agree 100% with the above quotes on this complex issue of WWII devastations. Last year, I have watched 10 parts series of real authentic and original documentaries of WWII  . I saw the dreadful devastations of both properties and human lives. It was unbelievable human miseries in the history of mankind. In Germany—Berlin, Hamburg, and many other big cities were simply flattened and pulverized to the ground by continuous carpet bombings. Nothing was standing in those German cities not even any trees. Human miseries were unbelievable. Those concentration camps were heart-breaking to see. The total devastations of properties and loss of  almost 70 Millions human-lives were much bigger loss then the loss of just two hundred and fifty thousand human lives lost by two A-bombs in Japan. Now my questions: when the world lost almost 55-70 millions of human lives and Billions of trillions worth properties were lost by the 5 year long WWII affecting the entire world, then why should anybody bother about the loss of just couple hundreds of human-lives by the A-bomb? After all A-bombs were able to stop this madness of Japan's crazy warmongering generals abruptly.  World should remain thankful to America for making A-bomb at that critical juncture. Besides, using A-bomb in 1945 actually has established a well-proven 'deterrent' for all ultra ambitious leaders to our crazy world which will stay as the Red flag for many years to come.

Now about American super power: Most importantly, historically America was never as the occupied force anywhere. In brief—America never ever colonized any nation. America fought wars mostly to liberate and protect people's freedom and never in the history America ever took any country as their colony. America mostly fought the war only to protect people's freedom all over the world because America is the Super Power and protects Democratic rights of mankind. America liberates oppressed nations and also does the Nation Building. Nation Building worked very well for Japan, South Korea, Germany and many other European nations. But, nation building will never work for any Muslim nation at all. That is why Republican Presidential Nominee Mr. Donad Trump ask not to do anymore Nation-building anywhere in future.  Consider, we the immigrant Americans are getting maximum rights here in America but we even do not get same rights in our own home country we left behind. The conspiracy theory that—America did not drop A-Bomb over Germany because Germany was a European Nation is utter nonsense. Because, United States had successfully tested the Atom bomb only on 16 July, 1945, which was more than two months after the surrender of the Germans to the Allied Force.

Finally, we must admit that—America was the Champion of saving humanity from the sure perils by WWII.  Criticizing giant American sacrifice (losing: 500,000 dead and almost two millions injured and maimed, tens of billions of dollars lost etc, etc,) is the tantamount to cruel jokes and that amounts to pure hypocrisy and anti-Americanism bigotry for sure.  My personal opinion is: nobody should show any sympathy or empathy to those aggressors (German, Japan and Italy) of Second World War, period. WWII caused deaths of at least 60-70 millions innocent humans. To this end, killing 2 or 3 hundreds thousands Japanese people due to A-bombs should not be considered a big-deal, to my opinion. After all Japanese were stern aggressors to this human misery without a question. That was the valid reason why Japan Govt. never demanded any sort of apology from America as of today. Instead, all the victims (China, Korea, Singapore and many other South-East Asian nations) still demanding apology from the Japanese Government instead.

Entire world was sick and tired of this devastating war and people were anxiously waiting for Japanese surrender. At the end, it was Americans who made it happened by dropping A-bomb and surrendered those reluctant vicious Japanese war mongers. That decision only saved at least half a million allied soldiers and also another million of Japanese soldiers from the sure destruction. I see nothing wrong in it. This is my world view about the history. Thanks.

[mukto-mona] Re: Use of A-Bomb over Japan by the allied force in 1945.

Thanks.
