Re: [mukto-mona] More atheists and agnostics entering Harvard than Protestants and Catholics

'Religion is an integral part of human society', because humans have been evolving from the state of knowledge and wisdom that was no better than what the wild animals have today. And indeed, old habits die hard. For example, I am convinced that Muslims are more religious on an average because from their very birth they get used to spending more time in practicing their religion than what any other religious group in the world does. I am also convinced that the wise among them would not inculcate praying five times everyday, for example, in their children.

As for the question by Mr. Chakrabarty, most people in the world over the last few millennia had religious baggage. Thus, many of the creative geniuses in the world had two compartments in their brain; one filled mostly with religious garbage and the other filled mostly with rational thinking. You need to realize that in its early days even Harvard was under clergy control. So, it was only natural that a lot of the creative geniuses in the world were not atheists. But guess what, the world is progressing and the control of intellectual exercises at places like Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford, etc. are no longer in the hands of the clergy. And there is a trend of diminishing size of the religious garbage compartment in the brains of the geniuses, as well as a trend of having more atheists and agnostics being seen in prestigious schools like Harvard.

Re: [mukto-mona] More atheists and agnostics entering Harvard than Protestants and Catholics

We can break religion in two parts – 1) believing in God, and 2) worshipping God. There is no controversy over the first part, but second part is controversial, because different religious faiths prescribe different ritualistic practices to worship God.
All religions agree on the concept that God exists in spirit. If that's the view, what's the point of ritualistic practices to worship a non-existent spirit?
As a result, most (smart) people usually believe in God, but try to avoid the controversial second part in their lives, as much as possible. This way - their mental faculties remain free from numerous ritualistic practices, which enable them to think about other constructive ideas that make them successful in life.

So, you are another fake fighter? 11 years old child fighting 71 war? On what front? In dreams? This is hilarious! Can you explain to us why Abid has been lying about his war credentials? Can we expect the truth from this liar?

Lets hear it from the horse's mouth! A question is asked and a truthful answer would be required to stop the speculation. Now, if the guy does not want to address the question, that is a different mater. A silence may mean more trouble for this poor old man?

Now if people like apostate, Golam and his Razakar company members could get away with the mass murder, this man might be an angel for not being at right the place at the right time? Thank you.

The period of the imaginary meeting took place when Emajuddin Ahmed was in Canada doing his PhD in Queen's University. Furthermore, in that period he was a non-entity in poliitcs and therefore there cannot be any question that he would be sent to Tripoli by any group to negotiate with those who carried the August 1975 coup..The story is 100% concocted and does not speak much of the intellegence of the author..would not speak much of the intellegence of others who would be inclined not to trash it and discuss it instead :-)))))))

No, Russian PhD has some value. I have doubt about all his degrees. Has he obtained them Zinzira type one online? Pity, such person is a Vice Chancellor of a university! Dr. (?) Mizan needs go back to primary school and get his facts correct.

First. The August 15 coup leaders (otherwise known as saviors of the nation, aka Surja Santans. Check media archives of the time) were not in Tripoli.

Second. There is no record of Dr. Emazuddin ever meeting those coup leaders in Libya or anywhere, anytime. Can Mizan give the names of other Buddhijibis that accompanied him? Dates? Details?

Third. Where did Mr. Mizan got the information that the coup leaders went to Myanmar (Burma)? When?

Fourth. When the coup leaders left the country on November 3/4, 1975, General Ziaur Rahman was in house arrest. How could he arrange their departure? For his information, it was Brigadier Khaled Mosharraf who arranged the Biman flight for them.
