I am no fan of BNP. In fact, I hate BNP for their misdeeds as much as anybody else. But reading the write-up by Dr Md Ali Manik, I have the distinct impression that it is nothing but a blatant propaganda in favour of AL by this man. The English is at times wrong, contents are dubious and presentation style is pure. Altogether it is a cheap propaganda effort. Such bad efforts only discredit AL.- AR

1. Before crackdown in the darkness of March 25 , the Pak army has disarmed or house-arrested most of the senior Bengali officers all over the Country(East Pakistan) . Brig. Majumdar , the senior most Bengali officer, was transferred from Ctg. to Dhaka to be confined in the cantonment . Second senior most officer was Col. M.R. Choudhury, was later killed brutally in Ctg. Cantonment . Only exception was Maj. Zia . He was so loyal to Pakistan authority that they didn't hesitate to send him to Ctg. Port to download arms and ammunition to suppress the uprising .Actually Zia was set free by the Pakistanis as an agent to be part of the freedom seeking mobs . He was trained in such a way that he took the opportunity to declare Independence on behalf of Bangabandhu . He intentionally didn't go to Ctg. cantonment to rescue Col. M.R. Choudhury to be remained as a senior Bengali officer for that declaration (As a senior officer Col. Choudhury would had the authority) . Also Pak forces intentionally didn't destroy the temporary Radio station to make Zia famous . According to Zia's plan Pak authority provided safe custody to his family in Dhaka cantonment .2. Though Zia was born in Bangladesh (Bogra), he was raised in Pakistan . He did his School and College in Karachi . An anti-Indian personality , Zia fought vigorously against Indian army in '65 to be awarded with memorandum .3. During '71 liberation war , his force (Z force) faced most of the casualties for his reluctant and ill plan ! Also the officers who killed Bangabandhu in '75 were from the Z forces and they met Zia before the killing . It may be mentioned that these so called freedom fighters had escaped from Pakistan to join the liberation war . Now it has become clear that those were planned escapes designed by the ISI .4. If Zia was really a DIE HARD freedom fighter he would had uphold the spirit of our great liberation war after the tragic death of Bangabandhu . But he didn't ! Rather he supported the killers , changed 'Bangladesh Betar' to 'Radio Bangladesh' , 'Joy Bangla' to 'Bangladesh Zindabad' ! Even he didn't hesitate to appoint well known collaborator Shah Aziz to PM post , notorious killer Alim to be a minister !These above points have proved that Zia was a dubious freedom fighters . Tarek Zia and Khaleda Zia's recent controversial comments about Bangabandhu's and Awami League's role during and after liberation war are not an isolated ones , rather these are all tied with the same string of ISI conspiracy which started in '71 .Thanks and regards ,Dr. Muhammad Ali Manik ,Vice President , US Awami League .
