[ALOCHONA] U.S. Muslim leaders protest human rights violations in Bangladesh

How can you call that Press Conference when there was not a single journalists to cover your so called Press Conference. This is amazing, probably Allah's magnetism, and his rejection. Calling press conference in US National Press Club become a disgrace for so-called organizations with Islamic label. Allah set the Press Conference into auto rejection mode.

There were few people in the audience as well and most of them were there to protest the ill motive propaganda designed by Jamaat-E-Islami worldwide and implemented by some non-mainstream organization with Islamic label. I challenge you to show the world if journalists covered your press conference.

Video link you provided are of the speakers of questionable organizations, show video or photograph of any journalist's presence in this conference. Give us some account of journalists from which news media asked what. I understand you cannot therefore let me help you to show rest of the world what a  BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGG Press Conference you had on 22 March 26, 2010

That's it???????!!! Twenty organizations and not even 10 people present when the venue is such prestigious National Press Club. I understand mainstream journalist did not find your banner so appealing but what happened to your own people? Did they reject you as well, alas?

Fail, fail and fail, from the beginning to ending what you will witness is failing. Bangladesh will surely put your leaders accused of war crime and crime against humanity into trial. Truth will prevail.

[ALOCHONA] TRIBUNAL, PROBE AND PROSECUTION TEAMS FORMED

TRIBUNAL, PROBE AND PROSECUTION TEAMS FORMED
War crimes trial work begins

Dhaka, Mar 25 (bdnews24.com) – The government announced the long-awaited formation of a war crimes tribunal, investigative and prosecution teams with symbolic timing on Thursday, just hours before the commemoration of the Black Night of March 25 when invading Pakistani forces killed thousands of innocent civilians in 1971.

Preparations for the momentous trial process has begun almost immediately.

Law minister Shafique Ahmed revealed the names of the judges, investigators and prosecutors in a press conference on Thursday afternoon, also the eve of the 39th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence.

He said their work would start "immediately", while the prosecution team said preparations had already begun.

Trial of Bangladesh's war criminals was among the top election pledges of Sheikh Hasina's Awami League government.

The government, since coming to power in January last year, has taken a number of steps to put Bangladeshis in the dock who face charges of mass murder, rape, arson, looting and abetting the Pakistani occupation forces during the 1971 liberation war.

Among these steps was the amendment last year of the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act 1973 for holding the trials, four decades on, and under which the country's first ever war crimes tribunal has been formed.

'FAIR TRIALS'

The just-appointed tribunal head, Justice Nizamul Haque, told bdnews24.com on Thursday: "I have been given a responsibility to the people of Bangladesh and shall do the job courageously, correctly and fairly."

"The accused will be stand before me, while those who lost their lives will be present in spirit."

"I will consider all the cases, and hope to convict those who are guilty and acquit those who are innocent," said Haque, who will head the three-member panel of judges.

The other two members of the tribunal are Justice ATM Fazle Kabir and former district judge Zahirul Ahmed.

Asked what lay ahead and when the tribunal would start work, Haque said: "I have just received my appointment ... I will meet the (law) minister. I cannot say when the trials will start, that is up to the government."

WORK STARTS

Mosharraf Hossain Kajal, one of the 12 prosecutors picked for the trials, told bdnews24.com hours after the law minister's announcement on Thursday: "We have already started our preparations."

He said the prosecutors had just been in a meeting with the investigation cell. "We will continue to meet, firstly to formulate the terms and conditions of our work."

He said, alongside that, prosecutors and investigators would sift through the mass of data already collated by various agencies since 1971. "We will lay out the information we already have in our hands on the so-called renowned war criminals, the known collaborators."

"Once the charge sheet is complete, then we as prosecutors will do our best to prove the charges and convict the guilty."

The lawyers' panel is headed by Golam Arif Tipu, the chief prosecutor. Other members are Syed Rejaur Rahman, Golam Hasnayen, Zahirul Hoque, Rana Das Gupta, Ziad Al Malum, Syed Haider Ali, Khanaker Abdul Mannan, Nurul Islam Sujan, Sanjida Khanam and Sultan Mahmud Semon.

The seven-member investigative team includes top former police officials, two CID inspectors and a former bureaucrat.

SPECIAL TRIBUNAL SECURITY

Home minister Sahara Khatun said the government has taken all necessary security measures for the prosecutors and tribunal judges.

"It will manage more security if any official feels the necessity," she told reporters after visiting the tribunal building on Thursday.

The courtroom, custodial cells and related offices for the special tribunal were completed in February this year.

The two-storey establishment is situated at the Old High Court Building premises which were earlier used as offices of the Law Commission and Judicial Services Commission. Before Bangladesh's independence in 1971, it was the chamber of the chief justice of the then East Pakistan.

The ground floor of the building now has areas to house the chief prosecutor, chief investigator and registrar. It also has a custodial room, records room, IT room, media room and a reception room. The custodial room can accommodate twenty accused.

The 'International Crimes Tribunal' is situated on the first floor with a bench, a dock and seating space for defence and prosecution lawyers and journalists. Behind the bench, there are chambers for the tribunal chairman and two tribunal members.

CALLS FOR TRIALS TO BE 'ABOVE REPROACH'

Projonmo Ekkatorer, a group of men and woman whose parents were killed in 1971, said on Thursday that they wanted the trials to be "above reproach".

"We above all want trials to take place," Asif Munir, whose father the academic Prof Munir Chowdhury was abducted and killed with other intellectuals a few days before the surrender of the Pakistan military, told bdnews24.com.

"But we do want them to be fair and proper, meeting international standards so that they can not be criticised by the international human rights community, and will not provide a loophole for the accused."

"We are pleased that the government has assured the public that it would hold trials compatible with international standards – but we are looking forward to see what action it will take to ensure this" he said.

An expert panel of international lawyers, including a former war crimes prosecutor, submitted a legal opinion to the government last month, advising further amendments to ensure the 1973 Act meets international standards. Among other recommendations, the lawyers advise that sections of the Rome Statute dealing with rights of suspects during investigations must be included in the Act.

Bangladesh has since ratified the Rome Statute, which calls on countries to bring their own laws into line with international standards for prosecution of individuals who commit crimes against humanity.

A government spokesperson, following the cabinet's ratification of the statute on Mar 22, said "it will prove that Bangladesh is determined to follow international standards to prosecute crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide."

The government has said that the trials may begin as soon as April this year.

[ALOCHONA] BDR MUTINY: Slain officers were of 'AL family', says Hasina

BDR MUTINY: Slain officers were of 'AL family', says Hasina

Chittagong, Mar 24 (bdnews24.com) — Prime minister Sheikh Hasina has said that 30 army officers of the 57 killed during the BDR mutiny last year had been picked for special duty or belonged to families of ruling Awami League leaders. The mutiny at BDR's Pilkhana headquarters in Dhaka spread across the country, she told AL leaders of Chittagong on Wednesday. "But we dealt with it quickly."

The Pilkhana mutineers, during the bloody events of February 25-26 last year, killed over 70 people, 57 of them army officers deputed to the border force. The rebellion also spread to other BDR outposts across the country. The government has formed six special courts, including two in Dhaka, which are trying some 3,500 border guards accused in some 40 cases around the country.

The prime minister said on Wednesday that officers who were picked out for important responsibilities including the Special Security Force, which is entrusted with the prime minister's security, were killed. "Many of the officers killed were relatives of Awami League MPs or leaders," she said.

Hasina was addressing a gathering of party leaders and supporters at the Chittagong Circuit House as part of the Awami League's countrywide 'mass communication' campaign. The month-long campaign is aimed at strengthening grassroots support, hearing what the people have to say, and rallying public opinion against the opposition BNP's "negative politics", party leaders have said.

The Chittagong Circuit House is where BNP founder and former president Gen Ziaur Rahman was murdered by military officers in 1982. Hasina on Wednesday accused Rahman for rewarding the murderers of her own father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, with high profile appointments at Bangladesh embassies. She also accused former president HM Ershad and former prime minister Khaleda Zia of giving her father's killers a political legitimacy.

Hasina said Ershad, Jatiya Party chairperson and now a coalition partner of Hasina's Awami League-led government, had made one of the killers a presidential candidate.

She said BNP chairperson Khaleda, now leader of the opposition, made another "killer" a member of parliament from her party.

The prime minister told AL leaders that the previous BNP-led government was "too busy in looting and plundering" and did not initiate any measures for ensuring power generation or increasing gas production in Bangladesh. "The people of the country would not have to go through such misery if they (the BNP government) had done their job better."
She also accused the previous 2001-2006 BNP administration for "spreading fundamentalism and militancy across the country's educational institutions".

Speaking of recent unrest in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Hasina said there were "national and international conspiracies" on to destabilise the region. "The last government only increased the tension instead of implementing the (1997 CHT) peace accord."

After the public meeting, Hasina sat in a closed door meeting with senior leaders of the party in Chittagong. She also met with government officials at the circuit house before the meeting and urged them to work sincerely towards realising the AL government's vision for development and a 'Digital Bangladesh'.

[ALOCHONA] Muslim’s must stand against so called Islamic organization

Muslim's must stand against and denounce CAIR, AMT, MAS-Freedom Foundation, America Muslim Alliance (AMA), ICNA, ISNA and all so called Islamic organization who woke up from their sleep and talking about human right violation in Bangladesh.

These anti Muslim, anti Islamic organization fails to talk about when Jamaat-E-Islami lead by Abul Ala Moududi collaborated with Pakistani occupational force and kills Muslims and people of other faith alike.

Abul Ala Moududi a false prophet of Islam was in the forefront of Mass killing, rape, arson, looting. Under Modudi's, direct supervision then East Pakistan Jamaat leaders Glam Azam, Motiur Rahman Nizami, Ali Ahsan Mujahid, Kamruzzaman, Abbas Ali, Yousuf and many other rank and file Jamaat leaders collaborated with Pakistani occupational army and went into manhunt killing Bengalis of all faith.

These so called anti Islamic organization uses Islamic label to save these anti humanity aliments of Jamaat-E-Islam who was involved with mass killing. Now when Bangladesh is getting ready with landslide peoples mandate to bring these war criminals into the folds of law and justice they started to shed crocodile tears.

Islam favors justice, people of Bangladesh wants justice. Allah in his holly Quran said killing one person is like killing all humankind. Jamaat-E-Islami was involved with millions of killing during our national liberation war

These anti humanity organization in the name of Islam will not talk when extreme abuse will go on in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. When dissidents voice will be crashed with a hack of a sword. When Kings will dominate and control our holly lands as their patriarchic property.

Muslim's must stand for justice, liberty not just as Muslims but primarily as a member of human race. We must stand unite and tall who wants to divide the human race in many labels.

We Muslim must stand and blow their identity and tell the world THESE SO CALLED MUSLIM ORGANIZATION DO NOT REPRESENT MAINSTREAM MUSLIM. WE CONDEMN THEM AND URGE THEM NOT TO USE THE NAME OF ISLAM FOR THE SAKE OF THEIR POLITICAL GAIN. MUSLIM'S MUST BOYCOTT THESE ORGANIZATIONS WHO FAVORS TO SAVE WAR CRIMINAL, WHO FAVORS CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY. TO WHOM SAVING GOLAM AZAM AND NIZAMI IS BIGGER THEN JUSTICE FOR REPRESSED PRESCRIBED BY PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PBUH) AND ALLAH IN HIS HOLLY QUARAN.

Condemning so called Islamic organization who stands against the truth and justice for their narrow political goal.
