I thought so; thank you for clearing that.

I know many people equate everything bad about India with all Hindus, including Hindus in Bangladesh. You may be surprised that Indian Hindus, even from West Bengal, have very little concern about Hindus in Bangladesh. Therefore, it will be wrong to punish Hindus of Bangladesh for all wrong-doings of India.

The fact is - Hindus never had brotherhood concept due to caste system, and they are still fragmented. As a result, even though they are majority, I believe, they have limited influence in the Indian policy making.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Regards,

Jiten Roy

Respected Mr Jiten Roy,

The poem is not mine. I do not stand for everything in the poem. However Dada here probably means India and this may have come in the poem because of India 's overbearing ness in some respects.

Sorry, having just woke up, I made a mistake and wrote 'two' in place of 'too'.

2012/2/21 Kamal Das <kamalctgu@gmail.com>

I have heard similar verses earlier written in the post-1975 period.  I wish, I had collected it.  The present poem is a parody of that one.

 "
I had a very different impression of you; I thought - you are a logical person among the bunch".  Lookin' for logic in wrong places/ Lookin' for logic in two many faces?  Does this verse strike a string of familiarity, Dr. Roy?  You should have known that ex-secretary is a Jamaat think tank by affiliation.  He is a regular columnist in Naya Diganta, a daily newspaper preaching pan Islamism of Moududi variety.

2012/2/20 Jiten Roy <jnrsr53@yahoo.com>

Hannan Saheb,

I was with you almost to the end, until I hit the following verses:

"বাঁচতে চেয়ে খুন হয়েছি বুলেট শুধু খেলাম
উঠতে এবং বসতে ঠুঁকি দাদার পায়ে সেলাম"

Is it really the truth or is it a part of your propaganda?

I had a very different impression of you; I thought - you are a logical person among the bunch. Are you saying that you guys are slaves/servant of Hindus or do you mean Hindus have enslaved Bangladeshi Muslims, as you have portrayed in your poem? Is this - one of those unguarded moments, bringing out your true communal color? If you think India enslaved Bangladesh , say so, because that was not the meaning of the quoted verses above.  You know very well India is not a Hindu country. India is ruled by Christians, Shikhs, Muslims, and Hindus. Don't blame just Hindus for Indian policies. If you do, it becomes a communal statement.  I am saying this to you because I think you may underatand it. If I am mistaken about you, please let me know; I will apologize right away for my misunderstanding.

You have portrayed yourself as a victim of the circumstances in the first part of your poem.  I was almost feeling sorry for you until I hit the aforementioned verses. Let me ask you, have you ever come clean about the role or roles you or people like you may have played during the independence movement? Have you embraced Bangladesh as a sovereign country, and recognized or apologized to the victims and others who may have suffered due to your roles during that time? Or, are you still thinking that you were and still are correct?  Again, my comments are based on your statements and your association. I could be wrong. If I am, please let me know; I will apologize right away.

Thanks.

Jiten Roy

[mukto-mona] Khaleda Zia's speech in Savar--"We will not take revenge or act on jealousy. Rather, we will establish good governance and social justice. --daily Star

http://www.thedailystar.net/newDesign/news-details.php?nid=223271

Khaleda invites honest, meritorious people to join politics; top personalities want correction in politics

Inviting the meritorious, honest and competent people to politics, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday said her party will engage skilled persons for the development of the country through proper evaluation if voted to power.

“It's easy to criticise politics staying at a safe place. Please come forward to the tough way of making politics fair,” she told at a discussion at Gono Bishwabidyalay in Savar near the city.

Gonoshasthaya Kendra, a non-governmental healthcare provider, organised the three-day event styled “Rich and peaceful Bangladesh: Role of state, responsibilities of politicians; Role of development workers and peoples' achievement” to mark the institution's 40th founding anniversary.

The BNP chief said it would be unfair if all the politicians are considered as same. “Politicians have contributions in both the good and bad activities in Bangladesh and everyone should have the attitude of discarding the bad ones and accepting the good ones.”

She claimed most of country's development in the last 40 years has been achieved by the previous BNP governments.

Khaleda admitted to making mistakes and facing limitations in the past, but also claimed BNP did not do any wrong intentionally.

She vowed to take lessons from the past and use the experience to run the country in future.

“We will not take revenge or act on jealousy. Rather, we will establish good governance and social justice. The media and judiciary will get real freedom. Reforms will be brought to the electoral system, parliament and the constitution,” she noted.

A national consensus is necessary for democratic and peaceful transition of power through an election, mentioned the opposition leader adding, her party has already started planning for future Bangladesh.

Joining the discussion, some eminent citizens said people will form a new political party if the existing ones fail to free politics from dishonesty.

Urging the political leaders including Khaleda Zia to nominate good persons in the next general elections, they stated that good governance and democracy will not flourish if the bad persons are not removed from the political parties.

They also pointed out that it is not the people but the politicians, who had accused each other to establish that no free and fair election is possible under a political government.

Political parties have established that they will be dishonest during the polls to ensure win by any means, eminent jurist Dr Shahdeen Malik told the meeting.

“Politicians have to understand that our politics should get out of this present unfairness. Those who have bad perception among people must be removed from the parties,” he insisted.

Economist Dr Binayak Sen questioned how the democracy would flourish if the elected representatives are not good even if the polling is accepted to all.

If only the honest and competent persons are nominated in the next elections, the country's governance and administration will be different, he maintained.

Prof Altafunnesa Maya, coordinator of Gonoshasthaya Kendra, Salma Khan, a famed woman activist, also discussed, among others, with Sadek Khan, president of Gonoshasthaya Kendra Trust, in the chair.

Earlier on Saturday, addressing the inaugural session of the event Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus had called for introducing an alternative political culture in the country as the politicians have failed to fulfil the aspirations of the people.

Dear All,

My kind and earnest inquiry to you all

Have our TV and electronic media ever made any factual and informative report - how our Juboraj Tarek Zia (Mr. 10 %) and his full family is maintaining a luxury and very expensive foreign life in London (not being a citizen or a refugee of UK) for last 40 months!

Have our TV and electronic media and talk show hosts and guests asked:

·         Where Tarek Zia (Mr. 10 %) is getting those "white pounds" for his luxury and costly life in a costly city like London without being a citizen of that country?

·         From where he has paying his high house rent?

·         From where he is getting those "whit pounds" for his very high and expensive medical treatment and therapies? (It is very high for a non resident or citizen)?

·         From where he is buying those very expensive medicine?

·         From where he is paying school expenses for his kids (for a non resident or citizen it is also very high)?

·         Their utility (gas, phone, electricity, water, sewerage etc)

·         From where he has getting the money for their food and other daily expances?

Have they ever raised these burning issues in your TV talk shows?

Have they ever made a special report on this matter?

At least I have not seen or I have not heard!

So, why our  TV and electronic media and talk show hosts and guests are very soft and kind hearted to king of corruption Juboraj Tarek Zia (Mr. 10 %)

Is the Juboraj Tarek Zia less powerful than and less corrupt than other powerful corrupts in Bangladesh?

So,

Really SELUKAS – our TV & media and

Really SELUKAS - our journalist

Really SELUKAS - talk show hosts and guests

[ALOCHONA] RE: [mukto-mona] Fw: OP meeting on "Hindu temples and properties are destroyed in Chittagong, Bangladesh"

This is very significant.  Thank you Mr. Mustafiz.  I can copy these lines posted by you as part of the Prosecution at the on-going War Crimes Tribunal:

<<  Implementing the recommendations of the attached letter to the PM would mean nullifying the Referendum of 1940. Nullifying the aspirations of the Muslims in the subcontinent. >>

Mustafizur Rahman
====================

What you mean is that the Genocide 1971 was pefectly justified. Not committing the mass murders of Hindus and the "like-minded" Muslims would tantamount to "Nullifying the aspirations of the Muslims in the subcontinent."

The pathetic fact is that Sir Syed Ahmed in 19th century and his followers of  'angreji' learned Muslims of Muslim League of India did not think Bengali Muslims even deserved being called full-fledged human beings, let alone being full sharers of the aspirations of the Muslims in the subcontinent.   Yes, yes, I know. Pakistan was created on the crest of a refrendum from Bengal delivered by A. K. Fazlul Huq.

In 2012 you would encourage the continuing desecration of Hindu temples in Bangladesh and, if possible, at every artificially created communal hungama, murdering the remaining Hindus in Bnagladesh in order to fulfill the aspirations of the Muslims in the subcontinent.

You, Mr. Mustafiz, our adorer jamai, Mohishasur, S.A. Hannan, his Jamaati-minded supporters, et al, and the few self-appointed representatives of a massive humanity of about 450 million people of the worlld called "the Muslims of the subcontinent" are carrying on the fight for the aspirations of the Muslims in the subcontinent by discriminating against  the Hindus of Bangladesh.

You have to come down to the REALITY that after the 1970 debacle of the general election of Pakistan, when the winner of the election was quite extraordinarily (and illegally) denied the democratic rights, it was the Pakistani  Military Generals who threw a damper into this British colonial mischief-generated "aspirations of the Muslims in the subcontinent."

They succeeded in bullying the Bengali populace in 1971 with murder, arson, rape and other atrocities by way of fulfilling the aspirations of the Muslims in the subcontinent with the help of 8 billion $ American military aid.

I can go on.  The fact of the matter is this : Not having a War Crimes Tribunal for the crimes of 1971 War Crimes has cost not only Bangladesh but the whole world in undescribable moral degradation of which you, Mr. Mustafiz, and Mohiuddin, the Mohishasur, et al  are a product.

[ALOCHONA] SHEIKH HASINA ON EKUSHE !!!!!!

Uphold spirit of Ekushey

PM urges all; 15 get Ekushey Padak

Recipients of `Ekushey Padak' for 2012 pose with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the award giving ceremony at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city yesterday. Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad and State Minister for Cultural Affairs Advocate Promode Mankin were present. Photo: PMO
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged all to uphold the spirit of Amar Ekushey (the immortal 21st) and stay alert about those who opposed the Language Movement and the country's independence.
"To face them, we will have to infuse the spirit of Ekushey into the new generation and practise Bangla language and literature in every sphere of society," she said while addressing the Ekushey Padak, 2012, one of the highest civilian award ceremony of the country, held in the city's Osmani Memorial Auditorium yesterday.
Hasina also urged all to contribute to establishing a knowledge-based prosperous, peaceful and non-communal Bangladesh being inspired by the spirit of Amar Ekushey and the Sonar Bangla (Bengal of gold) dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The premier handed over the prestigious Ekushey Padak to 15 distinguished personalities for their remarkable contribution in different fields. Each recipient was honoured with a gold medal and Tk 1 lakh along with a citation.
The award recipients are: Momtaz Begum (posthumous) for language movement; Mobinul Azim (posthumous), filmmaker Tareque Masud (posthumous), Dr Inamul Haque, Mamunur Rashid and Karunamoy Goswami for performing arts; Ehtesham Haidar Chowdhury (posthumous), Ashfaque Munier Chowdhury (posthumous) and Habibur Rahman Milon in journalism; Prof Ajay Kumar Roy, Dr Mansurur Alam Khan and Dr AK Nazmul Karim (posthumous) in education, Prof Baren Chakraborti in science and technology; Srimat Shuddhanand Mohathero for social work; and late Prof Dr Humayan Azad for language and literature.
On the occasion, Hasina recalled the sacrifice of language martyrs Salam, Barkat, Rafique, Jabbar, Shafiur and others. She also reminisced about the role of her father Bangabandhu as he had been imprisoned several times while leading the movement.
She said the language movement was the result of non-communal spirit of Bangalees and inspired by that Bangabandhu in 1972 adopted secularism as one of the main principles in the constitution.
The premier alleged that after 1975, military government had rehabilitated anti-liberation forces in the country betraying the spirit of Ekushey February and mutilated the constitution.
"We have restored the glorious history through the (15th) amendment to the constitution," she added.
Hasina said Bangabandhu delivered his speech in Bangla at the United Nations in 1974 to uphold Bangla and Bangalee tradition in the world arena. "I followed this legacy and also gave my speech at the UN General Assembly in Bangla," she added.
The premier said the government from this month has made installation of full-fledged Bangla keypad in basic mobile handsets of all brands mandatory. Initiatives have also been taken to formulate the second country coded internet domain "dotbangla" alongside the existing "dotbd" (.bd).
She said her government has established the International Mother Language Institute enacting the International Mother Language Act for preservation and researches on the languages of different ethnic people of the world.
Efforts are underway for the recognition of Bangla as an official language at the UN. A proposal has been placed before the UN General Assembly in this regard, said Hasina, adding, "The illustrious melody on Amar Ekushey February has now spread to 193 countries."

After March 25 Massacre

Ghulam Azam lent support to Tikka Khan

Prosecution tells war crimes tribunal

Former Jamaat-e-Islami chief Ghulam Azam met General Tikka Khan at least twice after the Pakistani occupation forces massacred thousands of defenceless Bangalees on March 25, 1971 and assured him of full cooperation, the prosecution told the International Crimes Tribunal yesterday.
Prosecutor Zead Al Malum said the first meeting with the then East Pakistan governor general was held on April 4, 1971 at the governor's house in Dhaka where Azam met Tikka as part of a 12-member team.
The second was a private meeting of the duo, he added.
At the meetings, Azam termed the freedom fighters "armed intruders", proposed, in company of others, to form a Peace Committee, and promised to provide all-out assistance to the Pakistani army to maintain "law and order".
Malum said this while reading out the formal charges against Ghulam Azam before the tribunal.
Ghulam Azam, 89, is facing charges on 62 specific crimes against humanity committed during the 1971 war. He is one of the front men who actively helped the Pakistani military's attempt to foil the birth of Bangladesh.
The three-member tribunal headed by Justice Md Nizamul Huq continued hearing the formal charges against Azam for the third day yesterday.
The formal charges contain 191 pages and 151 of them have so far been read out before the tribunal, which is scheduled to hear the charges tomorrow.
Yesterday's reading covered mostly charges of incitement committed by Ghulam Azam during 1971 when he was chief of Jamaat's East Pakistan unit.
There were numerous instances cited from newspaper reporting on Ghulam Azam's meetings with the Pakistani military junta as well as his speeches at different party meetings.
Reading out from the charges, the prosecutor said Ghulam Azam referred to the movement for liberation as "loathed attack from India" while addressing different programmes.
As the ameer of East Pakistan's Jamaat-e-Islami, Azam was in an authoritative position. But he did not stop the Pakistani rulers or army from carrying out crimes against humanity, the prosecutor commented.
Therefore, he is not free from the charges, he added.
Earlier, Prosecutor Nurjahan Begum Mukta began reading out the formal charges. She gave examples of Azam's role as a superior leader in different crimes against humanity committed in 1971.
Azam was not brought to the tribunal yesterday from his prison cell at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University hospital due to his old age and physical weakness.
He is among six Jamaat and two BNP leaders now facing war crimes charges at the tribunal.

Re: [mukto-mona] Fw: OP meeting on "Hindu temples and properties are d estroyed in Chittagong, Bangladesh"

Mr. Mohiuddin,

You are right - Awami cadres could have done that also, and blame on BNP/Jamat. After all, they have done it before. But, my friend, this one is not done by them, as I know.

You remember that news report of 10 people, apprehended for taking part in this attacks. In which one admitted that he was paid for breaking the wall of the mosque by two people, and blamed on Hindus to incite the mob.  One of those two people, I believe, was general secretary of the BNP, and the other was general secretary of Sibir or Jamat. When I know otherwise, I will say so. I do not supporter any political party; I support the truth, as I know. You should do so also. Truth is Allah. Can you tell me why people do deceitful things in the name of religion? Are they really religious people?

Why saying that BNP/Jamat terrorists attacked Hindus in Hathazai ?
Do you have any evidence ?
What about Awami terrorists ?
Awami Terrorists are in power now, there is no way BNP/Jamat can attack Hindus under careful
eyes of Awami Police and Awami RAB.
I believe Awami terrorists attacked Hindus in Hathazari and blamed BNMP/Jamat for the attack and Awami terrorists should be punished by Bharotbondhu Hasina.
That's her noble duty.
