Dirty CFL Bulbs: Big Payoffs for Electric Companies?
I just returned from the Health Freedom Expo in Long Beach, California where I interviewed an array of experts in fields pertaining to health. One of the more fascinating interviews was on the subject of "dirty electricity". One of CMNs regular viewers, Joe, has been suggesting for years that we take this subject on and I think we've finally connected with the right people.
Donna Fisher has authored 3 books on the subject of dirty electricity and it's unhealthy, even deadly, effects on human health. I interviewed her and Dave Stetzer, a gentleman who is known as the top Poor Power Quality Expert in the world. Both of these fascinating interviews will air on CMN over the next couple of months. Meanwhile, there's something I don't want to wait to share with you.
After my interview with Dave Stetzer, I began asking him about the Compact Flourescent Light (CFL) bulbs, which I cannot bear to be around.
First he began telling me a story about a Chinese Restaurant that had been a favorite in his community, always crowded. The restaurant closed for a short time to complete a remodel. They re-opened with an energy saving CFL over each table. Within a very short period of time the restaurant was out of business. The reason? These bulbs emit a type of frequency that make people feel unwell – including myself. You leave the restaurant not feeling well and attribute it to the food (to say nothing of that sickly yellow green tint to your dining companion's skin!). After a couple of visits you don't return. The food was the same, the lighting was different, the restaurant is gone.
Scott, in trying to do the energy conscious thing, put them in our home when they first appeared on the market. I didn't know he had switched out the light bulbs. From the first flip of the switch I no longer wanted to be in the kitchen, where I do quite a bit of cooking. I asked Scott what was wrong with our lighting, they made me feel depressed and I wanted to get as far away from them as I could. This, I hear, is not an uncommon reaction to these bulbs.
This prompted me to ask Dave Stetzer why the government was pushing them on the public – mandating them. We may have hit the jackpot with his answer. He began by telling me that the electric industry is a top contributor of 'soft funds' to U.S. senators and congressional representatives, ahead of big pharma. He continued:
"Compact Flourescent Lights (CFSs) generate high frequency transients, which, in turn, are on the electrical wires in your home or office. This causes induction disk meters (the meters the electric company reads located on the side of your home) to read inaccurately."
An electrical engineer by profession, Dave is by no mans a conspiracy theorist, but he continued by telling me that he have never seen one of these meters read on the low side, only the high side. The net effect is that the electric companies can deliver less energy as a result of the use of CFLs, but your meter readings would be higher, which is pure profit to the electric company without the need for a rate increase. Bingo!
Meanwhile, there are many reports that the radio frequency radiation and ultra violet radiation from these lights is causing a wide array of health issues, to say nothing of the toxicity of the bulb themselves, which uses mercury as an essential component.
As always, it appears the most direct route to motive can be found by following the money. Meanwhile, we're buying up the old fashioned incandescent bulbs before they are no longer available. Dave suggests using LEDs, if possible, as they are a clean source of energy. The only issue is cost. Last we checked the cost of one LED common flood light was around $40. This price should be going down in the future, however, to make them more accessible to all of us.

Meanwhile, feel free to circulate this blog to anyone you know who cares about this issue.

[ALOCHONA] Supreme Court Bar Association polls
Supreme Court Bar Association polls
Dhaka, Apr 1 (bdnews24.com) — BNP loyalists swept the Supreme Court Bar Association polls as results were announced early Friday after two days of voting that saw a very high turnout.
Khandker Mahbub Hossain, an adviser to the BNP chairperson, was re-elected president while Mohammad Badruddoza Badal became the new general secretary of the influential lobby group of Bangladesh's top lawyers. Fahima Nasrin, a former deputy attorney general during the BNP-Jamaat alliance government, won for treasurer.
In all, the BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikyo Parishad bagged 11 of 14 seats at stake.
One of the two vice presidents went to the Awami League-backed Sammilita Ainjibi Samannoy Parishad. The ruling party supporters also won a post of assistant secretary and a member.
The pro-government panel was led by Abdul Baset Majumder and S M Abul Hossain, for president and general secretary respectively.
A third panel, Independent Lawyers' Forum, nominated Mohammad Shahjahan for general secretary post. The panel's president candidate, maverick politician Nazmul Huda, decided not to run at the last minute, reportedly after "understanding" with the leadership of the BNP, the party that had ousted him for poor disciplinary records.
A third individual, Zakir Hossain, however, ran for president independently.
Bar official Nimesh Chandra Sen said 36 lawyers vied for the 14 seats on the executive committee. Of the 2,318 voters, the number of valid votes cast stood at 2085. "At almost 90 percent, this is a very high turn-out," said one lawyer. The 10am-5pm polling ran for two consecutive days on Wednesday and Thursday.
In the last elections, the BNP-backed panel won seven posts, including those of president and general secretary, while the Awami League-backed panel won the rest, including the treasurer and vice president posts.
