[mukto-mona] Deaprture of Abdullah Al Mamun.

While reflecting on  Abdullah Al Mamun's death I was trying to figure out why we like to watch dramas when life itself is a perpetual drama. The first drama I watched in my life was Tagore's Daak Ghor. That was when I was in the high school in Brahmanbaria in early 60's. I was thrilled when Amal's uncle expressed his dismay when the royal doctor wanted to put out all the lights in the house so that the lights from the far away star could come into the house. Amal's uncle said' Why they are putting out all the lights? What shall I do with the lights from the stars?'

Now traveling through life I perhaps understand why we sometime need lights from the stars. Dramas have a unique way to unfurl many hidden truths we experience everyday but too busy to reflect on them. That's why sometime we sit before a stage to watch facts of life in a more relaxed way. My elder brother who is in his 70's now had a very hectic life now retired and write books and talks philosophy. Old age may make some people very emotional because time allows them to see life very close and intimately. When talking about his childhood he will start weeping because those bygone days appears before him unfolding their events as if he is watching a drama.

I wonder the life we live does it really belong to us?  Sages say that things we can't hold perpetually should not be considered as ours. In a philosophical discourse with late Swami Ghambhiranandaji Maharaj of  Ramakrishna Mission told me that life could not be understood well if we are too much attached to our lives. He said thinking of life beyond life is a good way to understand life. This is an interesting philosophy which made me a fan of dramas where our lives are revealed through others.

The eventful life of Abdullah Al Mamun has drawn its own curtain like Shakespeare, Tagore, Ibsen and George Bernard Shaw but our drama continues.
