To consider what the Muslims, or the British did to India; one has to look
elsewhere. The Muslim conquests of the civilizations adjacent to the land
of the Arabs were a main reason behind their ultimate fall. Look at Egypt,
Iberia, Persia, Mesopotamia. The Arabs were good at plunder. One can blame
monotheism and it's attitude towards the so called pagans. The dark age
descended on Europe with the advent of Christianity. The natives of America
were decimated and ruined by the conquistadors. Accumulation of wealth at
temples, palaces or elsewhere can only invite the vandals of assorted
variety. If one believes that the Hittites, Mahmuds, Khaljis, Mughals,
British etc. came to this land to spread the light of Veda, Bible, Koran
etc., he may do so. But that may not be the truth. All of them came here
to have a share of the legendary riches of India. The earlier invaders
could not return since the path was very difficult. Even the Greeks stayed
in Gandhara for five hundred years. The British ruled the waves, and could
remove shipload of wealth abroad. Yet the system they left could be
reorganized to sustain one fifth of humanity with a goal to prosperity.
The difference between the British and Muslim colonialists are that the
former are industrious, and the latter are hedonists. In hundred and fifty
years, Brits made Hong Kong what it is. When it was returned to China, its
GDP went up by thirty seven percent.
About the Hindu Caste system, even 'Lord' Krishna says in Geeta,
"Chaturbarnam maya shristam gunakarma bibhajasa" which means:- I have
created the four castes based on meritocracy. When practice made the higher
castes a birth right to the privileges of the society, it could only
collapse.
