[mukto-mona] To Mr. Akbar Hussain

Dear Akbar Bhai

 

As you have deep interest in the Indian epics, I want to share some of my observations with you.  Brahmabaibarta Puran is said to be the Indian version of Genesis.  It bears an uncanny resemblance with Enuma Elish of Mesopotamia.  Mahabharata looks based on Homer's writings.  Both Priam and Dhritarastra were blind, Bhisma and Achilles had mortal ankle and were borne by a river Goddess.  I leave it to you find other resemblances.  Legend says that the epic was composed by Vyasdeva but written in Black and white by Lord Ganesha.  Now, Ganesha represents common people, i.e., mass population, and the legend proves that the epic was written over centuries by many.
