Dear Alochoks:
I am quite amused by this discussion. So let me guess it all started because President Asif Ali Zardari met VP nominee Palin and said she was gorgeous.
Is that appropriate behavior for a President? Maybe not..but imagine his excitement..after years of being incarcerated, then exiled (self or otherwise) and being accused of embezzelment...the man has attained the highest office in his country only because his wife was mercilessly killed. Were the people swayed by sympathy and some misplaced sense of patriotism one will never know but he is here and until something else happens he is here to stay.
So, what? Do you have any idea how many well-educated, completely civilized and well behaved gentlemen have said that Sarah Palin was HOT. These men who I believe have the acumen to be leaders and forerunners of any organization actually stopped and made a comment such as this just because the VP nominee of the Republican Party was not only a woman but a young, and a pretty one. So, its not a matter of whether its appropriate or not I think the situation is at the end of the day men can't handle women in power, specially one that is attractive. The idea of beauty and brains is simply lost on many. Ofcourse personally I don't think she is suitable for the job of a VP but that is not the discussion here.
But, I must say it would be great to see a leader come from our country that behaves immaculately in all forums, and in the domestic and Internatio nal arena. One who has the charisma and the magnetism to make people sit up and notice even if she/he is the leader of a small country such as ours. Will our dreams ever come true?

As far as leaderships disappointments are concern. I always remain very optimistic and do not bother to keep telling the bad side of our leaders like people. As far as political situations of both Pakistan and Bangladesh are concern, I think it is normal and need time to settle down. Quing up the nation of more than hundred million is not a simple job. Such issues take decades to resolve. However, in Bangladesh, political environment always remain hot than Pakistan. People are more active in politics in Bangladesh than in Pakistan, on one side and on the other side, less tolerant than Pakistani people. The problem for you is not Hasina or Zia Sahiba. The problem is that you need to educate your people enough. So that they can understand the importance of their contributions in the political process. For this, you need good quality analysis paralysis, research work based on ground realities, observation of human needs and the solutions to the common economic, political and social problems and after all that, you need to spread it through out the country and make such valuable work accessable for each and every member of your nation. Your wealth is not factories, roads, railways, foreign reserves, banks, NRBs (NRPs in Pakistan's case). Your wealth are your columnists, researchers, book writers etc etc.
The same fit to Pakistan, as well.

Yes I deliberately misinterpreted the contents in order to make the
point that you make light of any criticism of Pakistan by immediately
running off somewhere else. You need not do that on this forum as both
our countries are in a mess and both our leaders are disappointments.
Yes breaking hearts is universal. But it is you who suggested that
Bhutto junior had MANY Palins in the UK. Your use of the word 'many' is
enough evidence. And my comment is based entirely on what I have seen in
the UK for 20 years.
Our leaders embody the dignity of our nations. We have just started to
properly attack Hasina and Khaleda for their undignified behavi our.
