Dear members,
Assalamu Alaikum.How can it be Talibanisation?.Islam does not support idols in the name of sculpture.If peole protest this, how can it be an offence in a Muslim country ?
There are some people who do not try to understand public sentiment in Bangladesh.Bangladeshi Muslims except a few leftists, a few liberals and a few atheists do not want idols of any type in the name of sculptures.These people some time take cover of Mukti Joddha ( freedom struggle ), or Bhasha Andolon ( language movement)to install idols. People sometimes tolerate these in some sensitive spots though with great pain and disfavor. It is the duty of all in Bangladesh not to install in public places ( except of course those communities who worship idols ) and create provocation.
The authorities have done well by removing these so-called sculptures. There can be sculptures of flower, historical sites, fountains etc if at all these are necessary.
