SPOTLIGHTS ON BANGLADESH POLITICS :
NOVEMBER 08, 2008

(01) KHALEDA DECLARED PARTICIPATION IN ELECTION, IF DEMANDS ARE FULFILLED :
In Bangladesh Khaleda's or BNP's participation in this election means
a pathetic defeat for the party. However, this defeat bears different
meanings many for the concerned men and parties. For example :

(a) KHALEDA'S FAMILY : Already she and her sons and brother have
transferred huge wealth abroad. We came to know of development of
housing estates abroad, sending 303 boxes to a foreign country etc.
So, participation in this election does not matter anything to herself
or her family. On the other hand she has got a habit of saying 'no' in
cases involving hazardous jobs. Her little learning (failure in 3
subjects in SSC examination), less patience and superiority-complex do
not allow her to take stress.
(b) JAMAT E ISLAMI : With the participation of BNP Jamat may get 2/3
seats in Satkhira and 1 or 2 in Jamalpur. This number may even come
lower because of the declaration by the Sector Commanders Forum. With
BNP in the election field the number may rise to 10 or more.
(c) BNP LEADERS : The few free BNP leaders may try their luck in the
election if BNP participates. The time is too less for them to fight
independently or join other parties.
(d) BNP WORKERS : The BNP workers may earn some money from this party
and Jamat, only if BNP participates. Otherwise, even though the lower
section of them would get the lower strata jobs (like postering,
miking etc.) in other parties, those with BNP seal would not be
employed in crucial jobs.

(02) THE FOUR PARTIES : The basic difference between Awami League and
BNP is, in AL there are some dishonest persons (many of whom are
Sheikh Hasina's close relatives). Others, however, have patriotism,
sacrifice and sincerity mainly because of their sacrifice in the
liberation war, honor for the war, gratitude for father of the nation
or this party's association with Banga Bandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
On the other hand, in BNP all the persons are corrupt, and they have
joined it for selfish reason and easy availability of money. There
cannot be any ethics in the party that was formed by a military
personnel in the cantonment in order to seize power from a democratic
government and to rule the same like an autocrat in the disguise of
'democracy'. Earshad's Jatiyo party also played the same role, where
Ershad had the additional credential of handling others' wives. Jamat
is party that exists because a foreign country gives it money. It
would cease to exist if this flow dries up.

(03) DUDAK'S DECLARATION : Dudak has declared that they could not
find out any illegally earned wealth by Khaleda and Hasina. The
declaration definitely expresses their lack of intelligence. They
could better say "Dudak checked the wealth-schedule supplied by the
two leaders and found o.k.". They could even say that it was not
possible for them to ascertain whether those were earned legally or
not. They did the blunder by not mentioning that they could not verify
what Khaleda sent abroad in those 303 boxes.

(04) BNP's ROLE IN POWER TRANSFER : Most of the political parties of
Bangladesh are extremely greedy. If "greed-measuring machines" were in
use, the manufacturers would have to manufacture bigger ones to
measure the greeds of Zia, Ershad, Khaleda, her sons and brother (this
man savored Bangladesh Biman). As per democratic norms the ruling
party is supposed to ensure free and fair election in order to
transfer power to the popular party. Zia polluted the same in such a
way that no other party was to get power so long he survived. His
killing came as a blessing for Bangladesh with the end of this system.
Then Ershad, another army personnel and greedy person (also Biswa
Behaya) adopted the same path. The caretaker system was devised to
ensure transfer power to the deserving ones. It was given to BNP in
1990, but BNP disagreed to exercise the same in 1996. In this year BNP
won by its own system and then was ousted by the common people. In the
following election Awami League exercised the same and handed over
power to BNP. In 2006, BNP disagreed to exercise the same and polluted
it to ensure their selfish gain. AL did not agree to accept that. In
the name of dialogue BNP started taking time and deceiving AL. The
common people lost patience, turned furious and was about to punish
them (BNP-JAMAT) on the road. At this stage came the present
care-taker government. The caretaker government had every logic to
keep such a party out from election. But they seem to become over
sympathetic and lenient to them, the extreme expression being meeting
of the chief of the CTG with Jamat leader.

(05) KHALEDA'S MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION :
Khaleda threw a million dollar question to the CTG saying 'Why
election was not held in January 2006 ?'. The answer is simple, "it
was not held because BNP polluted the caretaker system. BNP endeavored
to ensure their win by placing selected persons at critical
positions".

(06) WHO IS TO BLAME ?
If the question is, "Who is to blame for the present degraded
political situation of Bangladesh ?" the answer is "Ziaur Rahman".
Being driven by his own greed this man formed a party where he bribed
leaders to join him. Naturally the immoral, money-hungry, boot-licking
leaders ran to him. He created the musclemen student fraction (earlier
Ayub and Monayem did this in Pakistan). In order to tackle him, Awami
League also had to form the same. When Zia used government fund to
feed his musclemen, other political parties were in need of collecting
money in ways they could find around. In this way, the political
situation of Bangladesh worsened day by and attained the present
state. Definitely Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the father of the nation.
And definitely Zia is the worst polluter of the democratic
administration of Bangladesh.
