I believe there was always a demand for trial of war criminals. In 1972-75 most of the sector commanders were in Government service, so legally they could not say much in public. There was a demand and movement in 1980-81. I think Col Zaman was one of the initiators. There was one in 1986-88. Col Zaman was probably the key person for that part. There was another in 1991-92 led by Jahanara Imam. Col Zaman again was a key person. I believe General Haroon demanded the trial when he wsa army chief, and he was criticised by some people. Col Abu Osman Chy, C R Dutt they all were involve in most of the movements. Just being the army officers I do not think they could do much. It ss the politicians and general people who need to be blamed for it. By the way, do you think trial of war criminals is a bad thing? --- On Wed, 11/19/08, maqsud omaba <maqsudo@hotmail.com> wrote: From: maqsud omaba <maqsudo@hotmail.com> |
