Dear Alochoks
Voting ended in Sylhet 1 at 4pm local time. The constituency is calm
but tense with excitement. I had the chance to visit 8 polling
stations and observe actions from inside the camp.
It was an education and I urge all NRBs to time their visits to Desh
to coincide with the next elections.
I am proud to say that I have done my best to support AMA Muhith
(AL) in my own tiny way.
Last night we received reports that Saifur Rahman's men - as before -
had gone to poor areas and distributed cash. We withnessed one such
incident. Our calls to RAB were met with swift action and those
criminals ended up in jail.
We are all camped at the campaign headquarters. God willing AMA
Muhith will win Sylhet 1. It was a peaceful day though in a couple
centres there were some troublemakers who were dealt with swiftly
with RAB. There is little rumour or evidence of manipulation by the
CTG. Even though I am sure that deals were made with BNP and AL a
long time ago.
May all good men - AL or BNP or JP or Jamaat - win today. This is
what the country bleeds for.
I also attended several rallies and though I could have had a better
seat I stayed within the crowds. It was enlightening.
