Question remians, how would the Government implement its much decorated Digital Bangladesh promise under the framework of an Education Commission report of 1974 when even computer was unknown to our citizens, let alone internet and the term digital. Are we pulling our nation backward? This is simply arrogant and driven by failed old-style ideology. Ideology driven efforts may not bring anything good for our nation, other than dividing us further. The leaders should think about reality driven policies for the development of Bangladesh. With all respect, most of the people who were invited in the meeting to talk about the education reform are unfamilier with ICT, and other modern technologies. They could only talk about ideology that they promote which is irrelevant in the current situation in many way. Young generation are not as much ideology driven as our retired and semi-retired academics are. They want opportunity and development in the current environment, 1974 is too far back for them.

Minister Mr Nurul Islam Nahid has said " The government will formulate the National Education Policy within three to four months based on the Qudrat-e-Khuda Education Commission report of 1974."
Much water has flown down the river since 1974.The present situation is much different than 1974.So government should not go to Kudrate Khuda commission, not even form a new commission.Any new commission will create new conflicts in our ideologically polarised country.
At the policy level our education do not have much problem, we lack only proper implementation.If some changes are needed , do it without new commission but as government decision, item by item with proper consultation with all sided of national divide.
The people with whom minister met represents mostly discredited left old-guards.Government should not give much credence to such people.

The government will formulate the National Education Policy within three to four months based on the Qudrat-e-Khuda Education Commission report of 1974.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said this at a meeting with 30 renowned academicians at the secretariat yesterday.
He said the entire education system from primary to tertiary level would be re-designed according to the education policy.
"There is no need to form a new education commission. Considering recommendations from the academicians, we have decided to prepare a National Education Policy based on the Qudrat-e-Khuda Commission's report," the education minister said.
He hoped that government will able to complete the education policy by three to four months adding the policy will guide us to free the country from illiteracy.
Nahid also said government will also try to introduce an unified primary education system across the country merging the existing 11-kind of primary education system to end the discriminations in primary education.
MINISTER MEETING WITH ACADEMICIANS < /b>
The renowned academicians urged the education minister to stop the culture of forming new education commission to ignore the political interest.
Most of the academicians suggested formulating the national education policy based on Qudrat-e-Khuda Commission so that secular and science based education system can be introduced.
They also suggested that the report of the Qudrat-e-Khuda Commission should be slightly modified to make the policy fit for the country's existing education system.
"Millions of public money were spent for previous seven education commissions by different political governments. But they didn't implement the recommendations due to the apprehension of demonstrations by the opposition, said Prof Dr Zillur Rahman Siddique, former VC of Jahangirnagar University.
Prof Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Chairman of Computer Science department of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, said government should immediately cancel the postponed 'uni-track education system' and introduce 'real unified education system' merging three systems--Bangla, English and Madrasa.
Prof Serajul Islam Choudhury emphasised on quality books and skilled teachers for ensuring quality education in the country.
UGC Chairman Prof Nazrul Islam suggested forming several advisory committees for improving education system from primary to tertiary level.
Dr Sirajul Islam, Abdullah Abu Sayeed, DU VC AAMS Arefin Siddique and its Pro-VC Harun-Or-Rashid, Brac University VC Prof Zamilur Reza Chowdhury and renowned academician Momtaz Uddin Patwary, Prof Rangalal Sen, Mostafa Zabbar, Prof AK Azad Chowdhury, Prof Ajoy Roy and Khandakar Bazlul Huq, among other academicians, were present at the meeting.
QUDRAT-E-KHUDA COMMISSION
Qudrat-e-Khuda Education Commission was formed in 1972 headed by the leading educationist and scientist Dr Qudrat-e-Khuda. The commission submitted its report to the then Sheikh Mujib government in May 1974.The commission suggested some major changes in the primary, secondary and higher secondary levels.
