30 civilians killed by Indian BSF in 6 months At least 30 civilians were shot dead by Indian border guards in the last six months while 29 BDR died in various incidents in the last three months, reports UNB. "BSF killed the civilians, mostly cattle traders," BDR Director (Operation and Training) Col Jahangir Kabir Talukdar told reporters at a press conference at its headquarters Thursday on the prevailing situation along the border. Referring to the treatment of Bangladesh border guards with Indian nationals, he said when Indian civilians losing their path enter into Bangladesh, BDR troops simply resist them. "We think about human rights before firing a shot." About recent deaths of several BDR members, the senior BDR official said at least 352 BDR soldiers died in various incidents in the last eight years. Of them, 207 died of cardiac arrest. He said from February 26 to till date 29 BDR soldiers died. Of them, 11 died of cardiac arrest, five committed suicide, one was killed in a road accident and 12 after longtime ailment. In response to a query, Col Jahangir said, "The government has formed an investigation body and it is working." On abduction of photojournalist Dr Shahidul Alam''s abduction, he said, "We had taken immediate actions after the unwarranted situation." Earlier Tuesday evening, BSF troops detained him while he was taking photographs in Natunbandar area along Bangladesh''s Roumari frontier.
