[ALOCHONA] Re: A news item on BDR massacre

Dear Farida

They may well have been Islamist terrorists. Though the methodology, complete success and bestiality of these criminals is too different from what we know of Islamic terrorism today.

Unless of course this is some kind of monster that rears its ugly head in Bangladesh once every 40 years.

For the common man what they have seen on the national stage is only the thamasha of people on whom all their hopes depend - be they politicans, military men or others.

This is Bangladesh. Our politicians were neither too shocked nor too upset by the events of 25/2/09.

The government has failed to provide any evidence of its seriousness in getting to the bottom of what happened and who did it. The government has not accounted for its actions on the day. The only tangibles we have are the facts of army officers being transferred and BDR soldiers being killed.

Have I missed anything?

The common man doesn't need anymore NGOs and good people standing with them. He needs justice from the law, accountability from politcians, truthfulness from the learned and serenity from maulanas.

In Bangladesh the common man gets nothing except Allah's rains.

Most of them --- that is, the rest of the nation -- were deeply wounded. As the details of the unspeakable cruelties were revealed, and people watched the news coverage on their TV intently, it felt like a revisitation of the atrocities of 1971.

The machine-gun-toting Hollywood-Cowboy like killers did not look very BAKSHALite to most people perhaps because they could not read the sophisticated analysis of the India-doctrinewalla on Alochona forum. People simply suspected a jongi connection. They had seen -- nay, they had SUFFERED in the hands of these cruel Islamists many times before.

Being a member of today's ALOCHONA gives you an excellent opportunity to be brain-washed. I am still standing on the street corner, and cyberspace will always have a ground-level humanist in me.

Munshi was then exposed quite convincingly by Shamim Chowdhury as one having cuddly connections with Pakistan Defense Forum and ISI.

All I ask the moderator is to have a modicum of decency in allowing a small percentage of space for those conscientious voices that protest against the vicious lies.
