Islam not only means praying 5 times a day and Angels and Heaven and Hell. First 10 years of Prophetic messages were to become a person with morale and high conviction. The way we define Islam today somehow distort the true Islam and deviate from the principle of faith. The definition of Islam today is very much confined with 5 pillars. But, that's not how we should present Islam to people. Last 100 years, Islamic educational system did not absorb new knowledge, Islamic education did not reveal anything contemporary to this century. We ought to change that perception to educate the next generation, Islam is not only a religion of Angles, Sawabs, Hell & heaven - Islam is a religion for the people with good conviction. Prophet was a family man, he lived a very human life without any magic or supernatural power, he was a ruler, he was a strategist, he was a manager, he was a leader. We need to find our everyday life lessons from his experience, they are all inscribed in the haadith. After Hijra, many muslims struggle with their new life in Medina both psychologically and financially. But, they were able to prosper economically, most of them were traders. So, if you think Islam is all about angles, hoors, and prayers, you are wrong! And I can assure you, you are not the only one! Mr Anis R, you do not have to follow or accept anything I say, but, at least I can urge you to read Quran without any prejudice. Karen Armstrong's 'Muhammad - a Prophet of our time' is a good reading. http://www.amazon.com/Muhammad-Prophet-Time-Karen-Armstrong/dp/0061155772/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1252660551&sr=8-1 Karen Armstrong's book provides a brief introduction to the life of Mohammed. "I picked up this book as a lifelong atheist who has never had much sympathy for any religion, although I respect the rights of others to their beliefs. I was looking for information because I am disturbed at the prevalence in the media and elsewhere of hate propaganda against Muslims. If I'm being told I should hate something, I want to know why.
