Resignation of Abul, Shajahan demanded

A huge number of professionals, civil society members, students and teachers on Wednesday raised the demand for resignation of communications and shipping ministers for their "pathetic failure" to deliver.

Hundreds of aggrieved people thronged the Central Shaheed Minar around the noon in what seemed to be a spontaneous protest against the sorry state of the country's roads and highways and reckless driving by unskilled drivers leading to the killing of several hundred people every month.

If Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain and Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan do not quit, people will stage a sit-in programme at the Shaheed Minar premises on the Eid day, said Syed Abul Moksud, organiser of the event and noted columnist.
