Caretaker government system has been proven to be fatal in the past. Those who are asking for Caretaker Government, most of them are BNP supporters; Awami League does not want it.
Political polarization is so high in Bangladesh that it will be almost impossible to find some politically neutral good people in the country. How are you going to form a caretaker government that both major parties can trust? If past incidents teach us anything, it is that caretaker government system is not a feasible option for Bangladesh? Awami League has the truth to back their claim. Also, Awami League has the law on their side as well. Constitution does not require them to form a caretaker government to hold election. Many in the so called Sushil Samaj criticizing Awami League for not deviating from the constitution. They are asking the government to violate the constitution. This is not a good signal. They say - people want it. Really? Who are those people?
I do not like the so called caretaker government system. This system is just too unpredictable, which could facilitate a golden opportunity to hatch conspiracy to take over power through the back door. You cannot let some unpredictable entity run a country. I do not know which other democratic countries have the caretaker government system.
So, how about holding election under UN supervision? Can this be a viable option, instead?
Thanks.
