Yoga has existed in India, perhaps, for more than thousand years, but it did not gain wide popularity, until recently. The idea of observing Yoga Day is to draw attention and promote the exercise for mass consumption. In the country like India, government can do the job better than anybody else, and, may be, government can also save some money on healthcare if people start living healthy lifestyle. This is a government program that no one should have any complain.

I disagree. I am an avid lover of yoga and some other physical sports. I consider yoga is rather a personal mental/physical exercise and see no point why Indian government should be batting for it. There is no need for it. This is very childish. Think about Chinese declaring a Tai-Chi day? Or, Muslims declaring a prayer day? That would be really silly!

Apparently, millions, in India and around the world, do care about yoga, and it is gaining popularity every day. While many smell religion in yoga and reject it, others in the Western world call this a very potent exercise for all, young and old. This trend is a gift to the world - that remained untapped until now. Things are really changing.

নামী ব্রান্ডের জ্যাকেট পড়ে মোদী বাবু দিয়ে বসে পড়েছেন। ভারত সরকার 'গীতা' প্রতিযোগিতা করছে। কেন? এটা একটা সেকুলার দেশের রাষ্ট্রের দায়িত্ব হতে পারে না। কোন নির্দিষ্ট ধর্মগ্রন্থ প্রমোট করা। কাজেই এই সরকার নির্দিষ্ট ধর্মাবল্বিদের সরকারে পরিণত হয়েছে। অবশ্য এটাই এদের আদি ও অকৃত্রিম উদ্দেশ্য।
এই বর্ষাকালে যারা খোলা আকাশের নীচে দিন কাটাচ্ছে, যাদের যেকোন মুহূর্তে কারুর ভাইজি বা তথাকতিত গরীব দরদী অভিনেতা গাড়ির গুঁতো দিতে পারে, তাদের জন্য সরকারের উপহার যোগ দিবস?
আসলে তারাও মেনে নিচ্ছে, খালি পেটেই মেনে নিচ্ছে, কারন খুব নরম যায়গায় স্পর্শ করা হচ্ছে, যার নাম ধর্ম।
এইসব যোগা করতে তারাইবসবে, যারা জানে দু ঘন্টা যোগা করার পর, তাদের জন্য পুষ্টিকর খাদ্য অপেক্ষা করছে, সাজানো টেবিলে। আগে সেই সিকিওরিটিটা সরকার দিক, তারপর এইসব হবে।
