Enemies needed to have been dealt within the few years of independence and did not happen at all. People just closed their eyes and thought that the criminals would just become angels and Golden Bangladesh would be the final reality. This was an Awami fallacy and they have been paying the price for that grand blunder. If Awamis were little more honest about their love for the country, Bangladesh would have been in a different place. Now, liberal Guardian supporting war criminals? That is totally hilarious! Wonder whether money is being paid under the table to this dying newspaper dinosaur?

Nevertheless, it is unfortunate that neither of the main parties has been vigorous in its opposition to such acts. In this situation, Bangladesh needs to conduct its politics in a far less polarised way, and in the process to take an honest look at its history rather than to try to squeeze it into a political framework of whatever kind. >
