স্বাধীনতার ঘোষণাঃ
২৫ মার্চ দিবাগত রাত, তথা, ২৬ মার্চ ১৯৭১ এর প্রথম প্রহরে জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান স্বাধীনতা ঘোষণা করেন। এ ঘোষণাটি ইপিআর-এর নিকট পৌছানো হয় এবং তা ইপিআর বেতারের মাধ্যমে সারাদেশে প্রচার করা হয়। স্বাধীনতার পর বঙ্গবন্ধুর জাতীয় সংসদে দেয়া ভাষণের কপি এবং বিভিন্ন জনসভায় দেয়া ৪ টি অডিও ভাষণ থেকে এরকম তথ্যই পাওয়া যায়।
সংবিধানে স্বাধীনতার ঘোষণাটি নিন্মরুপ -
"This may be my last message, from today Bangladesh is independent. I call upon the people of Bangladesh wherever you might be and with whatever you have to resist the army of occupation to the last. Your fight must go on until the last soldier of the Pakistan occupation army is expelled from the soil of Bangladesh and final victory is achieved.

অনুবাদঃ
"ইহাই হয়ত আমার শেষ বার্তা, আজ হইতে বাংলাদেশ স্বাধীন। আমি বাংলাদেশের জনগণকে আহ্বান জানাইতেছি যে, যে যেখানে আছ, যাহার যাহা কিছু আছে, তাই নিয়ে রুখে দাঁড়াও, সর্বশক্তি দিয়ে হানাদার বাহিনীকে প্রতিরোধ করো। পাকিস্তানী দখলদার বাহিনীর শেষ সৈন্যটিকে বাংলার মাটি হইতে বিতাড়িত না করা পর্যন্ত এবং চূড়ান্ত বিজয় অর্জন না করা পর্যন্ত লড়াই চালিয়ে যাও।
