[ALOCHONA] Editor Prothom Alo's Surrender

Mr Motiur Rahman yesterday surrendered to the Khatib of Baitul Mukkaram Mosque.

He begged his pardon by touching Khatib's hands and pronouncing "Toaba". However, that particular picture or narration of the episode has not been published in Prothom Alo.

Many of the Alochoks have a view of him a promoter of freedom of speech and a crusader against corruption. Unfortunately those who do not know him, can easily arrive to such a consclusion. In the last, Mr Motiur Rahman maintained strong ties with BNP-Jamat coalition. During the first BNP-Jamat government in 1991, his name was proposed to be Ambassador ofBangladesh to Turkey. He relentlessly lobbied for that post. He used to visit the then foreign Minister, Col. Mustafizur Rahman. However, eventually he was dropped. He was a regular visitor to infamous Hawa Bhaban to see Tarique Rahman.

It is very much well known in the Dhaka,s journalist circle that he lobbies for the military contractors in Sena Sadar.

We should should be careful about this type of tigers who are wearing sheep's skin.
