Re: [mukto-mona] Reju Rajakarer Dafon {Bangla}

I agree with Farid Ahmed, it is indeed a shame that
some people are expressing hatred against a lifeless
body. Raju Rajakar's body should be allowed to be
buried in any reasonable place that his family
decides.

In the last 36 years Bangladesh has been unable (and
actually unwilling) to bring even one war criminal to
justice. Now to show this much hatred against a dead
body is nothing but cowardice, as far as I can judge.

In fact, the recent news of a court case against some
Jamat-e-Islami leaders for the murder of two freedom
fighters does not impress me at all. In the court of
law this probably will not be treated as a war-crime
trial. Freedom fighters were combatants, they were
probably legitimate combat targets to people who
wanted Pakistan to remain united. We can salute the
dead freedom fighters for their patriotism, bravery,
sacrifice, etc. But their deaths are less likely to be
treated as crimes against humanity.

To me, a war crime trial would most likely involve
murder, rape or torture of non-combatants in the hands
of the Pakistani military and their Bangalee
collaborators.
