How much do you know about Emran Ali Sarkar?
I was one of the Student League leaders of the then Rajshahi District Student League. We knew Emran Ali Sarkar's anti-liberation activities very well. He was a Muslim Leaguer and then NAP-B, but he never helped us during 11 Points' Movement of 1969 and liberation war of 1971. Rather he joined notorious Aeynuddin, the Rajshahi District Muslim League and Shanti Committee Chairman. After liberation war he went in hiding.
He came back after Bangobandhu Sheikh Mujib was killed. When President Zia was looking for the condemned Muslim League leaders to form his party he found Emran Ali Sarkar from Rajshahi City. He appointed Emran Ali Sarkar to the post of Chairman of Rajshahi Municipality and made him Vice President of BNP and a Cabinet Minister. Gen. Zia also picked up jailed Dil Mohammed Ukil of Natore and mad him an MP. I with the help of our freedom fighters arrested Dil Mohammed Ukil and sent him to jail. later Dil Mohammed Ukil was jailed by the court under Anti-Liberation War Act of 1973 for his anti-liberation activities and collaborating with the Pakistanis. Gen. Zia took him out of jail and made him a BNP MP. Similarly, Zia took MA Alim of Bogra who was jailed for life for his killing spree in Bogra (Joypurhat)during the liberation war of 1971 and made him a Cabinet Minister. Killer Abdul Alim was the Chairman of District Shanti Committee.
Emran Ali Sarkar was coll orating with the Pakistanis. So, he did not need to surrender to the Pakistani Army.
