Roses on a trellis and…

Lavender and larkspur and salai, oh my!

As you climb and unfurl in "God's" jubilee,

In step with perfection you'd certainly be,

If you had soul…

 

Stars, as you round out a perfect sky…

For that cosmic nanosecond on high,

Celestial colors leave one to sigh.

If ever two layers were made for each other

It's humans and soul.

Roses can't tell you they're God's special pet.

They bloom and they die and we never forget,

Their soul!

 

Constellations come out to play

At the end of each perfect (imperfect) day.

So special are they in their winking and blinking,

They play peek-a-boo with our senses. We're thinking

About soul.

 

Soul is tied up all neat and pretty,

A grand illusion of imperfect man.

So much to ponder, as we think of yonder.

Yet, so much we could or should understand,

About soul?

 

Is soul the essence of imperfect man,

Part of "God's" infinite plan?

 

The answer to perfect may simply be

To shed the struggle with me-me-me

And see my neighbor as equal and free.

 

Then in the plants and the stars we may see…

Our soul.
