If Mr Guha didn't congratulate on behalf of HRCBM, I withdraw my statement, although I profoundly differ with his views which are an aberrant one from secularism that we have learnt from the Reformation era, enriched by Rabindranath Tagore, Jawaharlal Nehru,Prof Shahedulla Bhagat Singh and,of course, Ajoy Ghosh.
I have some points to say about his following statement: "Mr. Ray, do you know Siddiqullah? He is a leader of CPM and he started the
Taslima saga this time in WB. You may call him a communist, to me he is just an Islamist. You people fled Bangladesh/ Pakistan and became so-called socialist overnight but ultimate change is Ray from Roy; you are still appeasing militant Islam and are still scared of their wrath! That's your problem, we will be fighting militant Islam at all means."
Siddiqullah belongs to Jamat-e-Ulema-Hind, never CPI/CPI(M). So Mr Guha should first himself be informed before telling me alike, although I am grateful to him for correcting me. But I do not endorse his statement that Siddiqulla is Islamist.
I was born and brought up in Calcutta, although my ancestors belonged to Rajshahi. The surname, Ray, is from the Board of Secondary Education, West Bengal, which put my name in School Final Certificate as Sankar Ray instead of Shankar Roy.
