Relief Ci Sheet Misappropriation Former Jessore BNP MP charge-sheeted by ACC Absconding lawmaker faces at least 15 cases Courtesy Daily Star 29/4/08 Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday submitted charge sheet to Jhenidah Judicial Magistrate court against former BNP lawmaker Shahidul Islam Master and two others for allegedly misappropriating relief CI (corrugated iron) sheet. Md. Aminur Rahman, ACC assistant director of Khulna division submitted the charge sheet . The two other accused are Mizanur Rahman, son of stamp vendor Rafi Uddin of Hamidpur village in Sadar upazila and Saidul Islam, son of Tayeb Ali of Paranpur village in the same upazila. On February 14 last year, Moheshpur police recovered 21 pieces relief CI sheets from the house of Shahidul Islam Master. SI Mortoza Ali lodged a case against Shahidul Islam and two otghers. Later, the case was handed over to ACC for investigation. After 14 months of investigation, ACC assistant director Md. Aminur Rahman submitted the charge sheet to Jhenidah Judicial Magistrate court. Shahidul Islam Master faces at least 15 cases for extortion, relief materials misappropriation and land grabbing, filed with different police stations. Purchase 90 bighas land in a day by him was a matter of discussion in Jhenidah town. Shahidul Islam Master was elected from Jhenidah-3 constituency in 2001 election. He and his family members had been absconding are absconding since promulgation of state emergency, police said Police said they raided his house several times to nab him but neither he nor any of his family members were found. Earlier, police recovered blankets, sharees, biscuits, CI sheets and sports materials from his possession. | |
