The contex of our discussion was extra nuclear space, i.e. outside the boundary of the nucleus, and I was not even thinking about the force inside the nucleus. Better statement would have been ... counterbalance strong attractive force due to positively charged nucleus. Therefore, I will accept that it was a slip of pen. Thank you. The End.

The velocity vector at any point is tangential to the circular orbit, the acceleration vector points along the radial direction. These two vectors are perpendicular to each other at every point for uniform circular motion. Therefore, the force due to this acceleration has no component along the tangential path. In case of orbital electron, the electrostatic force is balanced by the centrifugal force (mv2/r), and there is no net force acting on the orbital electron along its tangential path.
