Re: [ALOCHONA] Our Chief Justice

Not interesting at all. More like hilarious.

It is such a common ploy nowadays to wrap up state the obvious in
such a way that it all seems very suspicious and sinister. It is also
a common ploy to disguise ones own petty jealousies and inferiority
complexes by making statements as if one has more sources than the
CIA.

Every sentence is leading and loaded with innuendo. Its like saying:

Interestingly the dog didn't hesitate to chase the cat. Reports
started emanating that the dog barked loudly and thereby cunningly
notified fellow conspirators, also dogs, to join in the chase. The
cat, for some unknown reason, decided not to climb up a tree but
decided, based on reports from unnamed sources, to run down the
street. A passer by, who obviously doesn't want to be named, was also
threatened by one of the dog chasing the cat.

Just tell it like it.

Moeen, as supported by the military high command, decided to stay on
for another year in order to push forward the master plan hatched by
the CTG, US, EU, WB, IMF and possibly even the UN.

This plan will fail if Moeen leaves because no other general will
stand up to the two madams. Everyone else, just like the author
below, will faint at the very sight of Hasina and Khaleda. They will
become speechless, emotional and highly aroused – whimpering like the
little poodles they are `Nethri, oh nethri! Oh my nethri! Aha nethri!
Please, pant kulbo?'

The police were correct to allow the mastans of BNP, AL and Jamaat
behave like the uncivilized baboons they are. By doing so they
allowed these mastans to be eventually challenged by this CTG –
inspite of all the flaws. So thank you police.

Thana and parishad elections MUST be held before the national
elections otherwise AL and BNP will corrupt the thana and parishad
elections. As has been proven many times before. So thank you CTG.

Anwar Chowdhury beating Patricia Buetenis on the subject of the
election is simply two sides of a sober debate. Don't try to imply
these two professional are like your typical third class, third rate
Bangladeshi politicians. There is no miserable failure on her part.
Thank you Patricia Buetenis for trying to do what you thought was
right.

Her transfer within 15 months is probably more an indication of her
importance to the US diplomatic corps than an indication of her
failure in Bangladesh. Of course some patriots think ambassador to
Bangladesh is far more important on the world scene than deputy
ambassador to Iraq. I'm sure they think she is dreaming of settling
down one day in their version of sonar Bangladesh.

Notice how the article seeks to portray Anwar Chowdhury as a cunning
fox, sneaking into the confidences of our holy, virginal, pious,
innocent, saintly begums. No mention of the fact that both of them,
and their ministers and mps, just love to shamelessly run to foreign
ambassadors whenever they are in trouble.

The article presumes that Anwar Chowdhury should be loyal to Hasina
because some in his family are. And that he should be loyal to
Khaleda because of he was close to Saifur Rahman. Just as some clowns
think Moeen should be loyal to Tariq Zia because his mother promoted
him! Anwar owes loyalty to his conscience, his intellect and his
values. Not to the rotten conscience, rotten intellect or rotten
values of the AL and BNP high command.

Anwar Chowdhury played his role in changing the direction of the
country. It is a fact. It is the action of a man who understood what
he could do, what he should do and went ahead and did it. He is a
brave man and a good man. Those who try to besmirch him have no idea
how to measure a man and have no idea of why Bangladesh should move
beyond Hasina and Khaleda. Thank you Anwar Chowdhury.

His efforts to remain may have failed but you know what some Bengalis
are like.. One day he may be the British ambassador to the UN,
Beijing, Tokyo or Washington. But these jealous Bengalis will say his
career failed because he couldn't spend 20 years as ambassador to the
land where Khaleda and Hasina tread so gracefully with soft, scented
feet.

In spite of everything the author mentions not a word about the
governments of Hasina and Khaleda.

There are a lot of clever people around who think they are experts at
turning simple facts into long winded conspiracies. But its very
transparent.

For example the author concludes by saying that President Iajuddin
was forced to extend Moeen U Ahmed's tenure as Chief of Army Staff by
junior officers who threatened to tell the public about his 20 dogs!

Some liars lie so much that they can't tell the difference between a
stupid lie and a clever lie…

Interestingly, the general said that 2 plus 2 equals 4 on the same
day that his nephew got promoted from class 4 to class 5 at the very
same school which the general visited only 3 weeks ago. Surprisingly
the headmaster did not make any comments otherwise he would have been
executed like so many other patriotic headmasters. One wonders if the
general will use the DGFI to quell such reports or massacre millions
of Bangladeshis who are getting ready for an almighty battle to
return the nation to its best democratic traditions. Not content with
his murderous successes so far the general is reported to have cut
his fingernails into a pointed shape in order to scratch peoples eyes
out effortlessly. Various socio-politico-culturo organizations have
voiced concerns and begun agitation programs. AL and BNP front
organisations have begun spelling out their plans for getting the
first Bangaldeshi to land on the moon – by passing an incredible
amount of hot air, heavy gases and noisy wind from their prosteriors….

By all means attack the CTG et al but please do so in the most direct fashion possible.

Yawn.

the Bangladesh Army. The author of this piece wishes to remain
anonymous for obvious reasons. There are lots of interesting snippets
here: a 2006 coup plan, Anwarul Iqbal's exist strategy to the UAE,
etc. But I was not aware the Iazuddin has 20 pet dogs or that the
government expenditure for those dogs is upsetting some young army
officers, but the most important piece of information hinted in this
piece explains why Moeen U. Ahmed's tenure as Chief of Staff was
extended by one year. We were convinced that MUA will, after his
retirement in June, step up to 'rescue' the country. But given the
prices of essentials, specially the world-wide shortage of rice,
becoming the de-jure ruler of Bangladesh is a no-win situation. So
MUA, who is evidently a smart man (yes, I know the joke about
Military Intelligence being an oxymoron, too) decided to extend his
term by one year and remain the de-facto ruler until then. Does this
mean the election will be pushed back until 2009? Generals are
allowed to resign and enter politics, so we believe Gen. Ahmed is
firmly straddling the fence at this point, but we will not be
surprised if "unavoidable circumstances" pushes the election back. J

intelligence sources in Dhaka. The rumor states that Mr. Anwarul
Iqbal, who was in-charge of Police Force was asked to withdraw police
forces from the ‘war zone’ on October 28, 2006 where few
political activists and demonstrators were beaten to death. A
selected few media blamed the 'logi boita' for the deaths while the
Awami League leaders claimed and a few private TV channels showed
that the Jamat supporters opened fire while shouting 'morle shoheed,
bacle gazi' (if you die, you would go to heaven and if you don't die,
you become a winner for eternity). His Deputy Police Commissioners
repeatedly apprised him of the consequences of withdrawing the police
forces and argued that the function of the police force is to
maintain law and order. He did not listen to their arguments. As a
reward and for his obedience, he was picked up as an Honorable
Advisor in the current military-backed emergency government of Dr.
Fakhruddin Ahmed. Recently, he tried to put the Election Commission
under fire by announcing that the Thana and local Parishad elections
would be held prior to the national election for which the caretaker
government was primarily installed. More interesting, as a
precautionary measure, it is reported that Advisor Anwarul Iqbal has
recently brought private flats in Dubai and UAE with a view to settle
there after the change of the government. If the story is not true,
he may submit a detail story on the 28th October incident as well as
his income and wealth statement to dispel the rumors.

> It is also reported that the British High Commissioner Mr. Anwar
Chowdhury managed to diplomatically defeat the U. S. Ambassador
Patricia Buetenis who desperately wanted to have the national
election in January 2007. She miserably failed as the EU diplomats
sided with Mr. Chowdhury and therefore, she was withdrawn within 15
months of her service in Bangladesh. Now she is posted as the Deputy
U.S. Ambassador in Iraq. Reportedly, British High Commissioner Mr.
Chowdhury was a trusted confidante of the Awami League President
Sheikh Hasina and he continually briefed her to stand strong in her
demands. At the same time, he advised the BNP-Jamat leadership
especially Begum Khaleda Zia not to compromise. He really enjoyed the
rivalry of the Begums, the London-based the Economist so aptly
enumerated. He earned confidence of Sheikh Hasina as his father was
an expatriate Awami League leader in the United Kingdom. He was also
close to the inner circle of the BNP leadership especially Mr. Saifur
Rahman by being a Sylheti, the most trusted Minister of Khaleda Zia.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair appointed Mr. Chowdhury, a
Bangladeshi native as the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh to
get political support of the Bangladeshi British nationals. In spite
of his efforts for another term, he has recently been withdrawn by
Foreign Secretary Milliband. Unlike others he stayed there for four
years. But the damages that he did to this nation’s nascent
democracy will remain afresh just like the British Raj’s dual
policy of divide and rule for years to come.
>
> It is further reported that all arrangements were smartly made to
have a military takeover in Bangladesh on October 28th. However
Khaleda Zia’s political advisor Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, a
shrewd politician that sided with Pakistan in 1971 Liberation War
reportedly received information from Pakistan’s ISI, the military
intelligence forces and quickly foiled such attempt by hurriedly
forming a Caretaker government headed by President Iazuddin Ahmed.
Once the Caretaker Cabinet was formed, the military found difficulty
to take over. President Iazuddin, a very selfish man has no love for
the nation or nation’s laws and rules other than himself.
>
> When the advisors of the Caretaker government of Iazuddin Ahmed
were making progress and getting positive response from the opposing
political parties, Dr. Iazuddin Ahmed at the advice of few selected
military and civil society leaders obstructed any resolution. It is
reported that both the TIB and the CPD got reasonable funding to
continue their criticism of political leaders to create public
opinion against them without fully knowing that they became a part of
the conspiracy. However, CPD’s Chief was rewarded with an
Ambassadorial post immediately after the installation of the military-
backed government that received nearly Tk80 crore British fund.
>
> As the economy is failing under the inept caretaker government
composed of foreign trained international bureaucrats and there is no
hope of recovery soon, the military is fed up with Dr. Fakhruddin
Ahmed’s government. Last January, four advisors were replaced and
additional assistant advisors have recently been appointed to manage
the economy. As it is not improving and there is not much hope of a
quick fix, General Moeen U. Ahmed, the Army Chief is contemplating of
handing over powers to an elected government. No wonder, while
addressing the media this week he boldly stated that ‘military has
no political ambition’. Since last week a few generals have been
quietly circulating the above ‘untold stories’ or ‘classified
information’ as General Ahmed is convinced that leading such
chaotic economy would be a bad choice now. However, before leaving
the office, like a section of politicians that imported and enjoyed
tax-free personal automobiles or made money out of such privilege,
Army Chief General Moeen Ahmed rewarded him and his close associates
with promotion and extension of service. That mentality of enjoying
public benefits has not changed in spite of corruption jihad in the
country. The current caretaker government will be over in 8/9 months,
but upgrading of selected military ranks will continue even after its
departure as the milestones of Fakhruddin government.

> It is also reported that President Iazuddin Ahmed has been feeding
his 20 pet dogs costing the public exchequer over couple of lac taka
each month and as some young and dedicated army officers raised noise
due to famine condition in the country, President Iazuddin to silence
them extended the tenure of their boss, General Moeen U. Ahmed by a
year. Question is; is it the same old ‘give and take policy’ of
past governments in a new bottle? Or is it something new and fresh
‘so-called reform’ to deprive younger officers?

declaring that he did not have any other land property in Dhaka

to strip off his position through a Judicial Commission. For that
reason you see all High Court decisions are overturned in the
Appelate Division headed by him. He recently stripped off Writ power
of two High Court Judges at the request of the CTG.   This man is
a threat to the human rights and democracy in Bangladesh.   SH

address the public in order to give their opinion about any law

the public representatives to jusify the promulgation of any

It must be mentioned that the Judges are at libery to interpret the
existing laws or to complete the gaps with their decisions through
precedents. To allow sitting Judges to address the public and the
media with regard to any justification or amendment to any law puts
the judge into question as to his impartiality as to any future cases
before him in the related law. Our CJ was prompt to criticise the
existing law of inheritance as a question of time but where are his
opinions as to the question of Special Powers Act or the Special
Tribunals? I bet he does not even have the guts to utter a single
word and have no other option but to hide behind the veil of Judges
Rule of Conducts. At least we are now sure that anyone who has any
question related to Islam and Quran - we know his personal
convictions.
