Thanks for asking. In the movie, The Train, Bert Lancaster commented
that, 'Beauty belong to those who can appreciate". A superior kind of mental and intellectual
perfection is needed to understand and appreciate fine arts. Sometime I ask
myself if emotion is a weakness. I know many people who are apparently highly
educated and understand many intricate rules and norms of everyday life but remain
unresponsive to fine arts. I don't blame them but feel sorry that an important
window is yet to be opened some where in their lives. While reading poems from
our great poets a sense of freedom and vastness engulfs my mind. The sonnets of
Shakespeare are a wonderful source of everlasting beauty and satisfaction.
Tagore bring peace and solitude and Jibanananda Das is a mystery to me. Remember
that piece of poem where he wrote, Kothao pakhir shobdo shooni, kokhono
samudrer shor, eki nidra eki bhor?".
