Re: [mukto-mona] REDEFINING RELIGION - 2

WRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/48048

"Religion sometimes is called man-made; then in the same breath it can be said science, philosophy, psychology, fine arts, physics, chemistry, even our society are all man-made. Everything, like political system, the social laws, courts of justice, the governments all are man-made. So, what? Who else would make it? Should any system of human inquiry not qualify to be authentic because it is man-made? I think it is the other way round i.e. it should be authentic because it is man-made and not God-made (and thankfully it is not)."

Nicely written article. Once we understand that religion is man-made, we will make a great progress. You have pointed out that man-made advances have done wonders for the humanity. I may remind that man-made medicines are saving lives everyday. Anything man-made involves a group or an individual behind it to take the credit or the blame for its outcome. If the religion is man-made, some one will be there to take the credit or the blame for good or bad consequences, respectively. On the other hand, if the religion is God-send, He should take the credit or the blame for all  consequences. Many people do everything as per "God's will." By doing so, they are being less accountable (at least psychologically) for their actions. They do credit God for good outcomes,  but never blame Him for the bad outcomes. They take 100% blame on to themselves for the bad outcome. If they can take 100% blame, should be able to take 100% credit also. Why
they don't? The reason is, if they are 100% responsible for all their actions, that diminishes the existence of God in their lives. The bottom line is, religion exists in the pigment of our imagination. It's the illusion; it's the opium of the masses.
