Gita Das's "Tokhon O ekhon" parts are interesting reading,the current 13th part being no exception.

Here she how a street-beggar and a medical doctor react alike when they meet a lady in an official vehicle as they draw the same conclusion: the lady's husband must be a top excutive in whose vehicle she is travelling.

The writer is right that women are looked down upon in today.

But are not the things changing really? In the generation previous to that of the writer it must have been much more unbelievable that a lady could hold a post equally comparable to hers now.

Look at her country Bangladesh. Two ladies have sat in the chair of Prime Minister there.

No mean achievement that is for the country.

No doubt gender discrimination continues in countries like Bangladesh. or India.

But the tone of writings should not be one of despair,rather that be of hope.
