The CTG is by no means the worst plunderer of the constitution of Bangladesh. The constitution of Bangladesh, as it stands today, should belong to the dustbin. The 1972 constitution should be reinstated, or a completely fresh honorable constitution should be written.
The question is, "who is going to do what would be honorable for Bangladesh?"
None of the elected governments had the will/guts to scrap Zia's and Ershad's abusive changes in the constitution. Of course, Zia and Ershad gave Islamic character to the constitution, and Islam is so difficult to oppose. Not only elected governments, the Supreme Court justices were stupefied by Islam; how could they oppose Islamization of Bangladesh? Because of the obsession with Islam, none of the elected governments was ever serious about bringing the 1971 war criminals to justice. Because of the obsession of the population with Islam, none of the elected governments were effective in punishing the 1975 criminals who killed Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with many of his absolutely innocent family members, and who killed people in the jail, violating all civilized norms. I am using the word "people" as opposed to "national leaders", because these kinds of crimes are punishable even if the victims were ordinary citizens, even if they were convicted
criminals.
Bangladeshi intellectuals should talk in terns of good common sense honor, fairness and justice, as opposed to in terms of who is violating the rubbish of what is the constitution of Bangladesh.
