Bangladesh's CG is not an elected government. It was expected to reform election issues, conduct election and hand over political power to an elected government. However, it turned out to be a military backed CG government. In the name of facilitating the democratic process, it is violating many important rules of the country for which in future it will be held responsible.
Case Against the Controversial Care-taker Goverment:
1. Like most military governments, it used corruption as a slogan to establish a third force which appeared to be a pro-Indian military government headed by General Moyeen U.
2. It is destroying the military institution that is responsible to defend the country. In the name of establishing friendly relations with India, it allowed General Moyeen, a Bangladesh public servant to visit India where he received six horses, the highest honor given to a foreign dignitary.
3. It is responsible for not following the rule of law and killing or crippling many alledged corrupt people without any trial or before they were found guilty by the court.
4.It began to destry business. In the name of anti-corruption drive, it stunned the Bangladesh business sector that lately created dynamism in the economy. It was done as if the CG acted on behalf of anti-Bangladesh forces. The net result was the price hike of essantial commodities.
5.The CG's unelected chief advisor supposedly allowed permission to foreign governments to survey Bangladesh's ports and terrains.
6. The CG before Bangladesh could have settled its many outstanding issues, was willingness to give transit to India but backtracked at the massive public reaction.
7.The CG shows its unwillingness to give an election date, freed one leader, kept the other one in jail and allowed only local election by facilitating one major political party's victory, therby invalidating the total process.
It is clear that the pro-Indian Motiur Rahman-Moyeen backed CG is trying to destroy the independent-minded Bangladeshi nationalist forces. If that is not the plan, instead of giving a firm date for election, what is the CG waiting for? Why the local elections? In this staged confusion, is Bangladesh heading for an Indian predicted "failed state?"Under the circumstances, people wonder whose caretaker government is this?
