Bangabandhu leaded us to freedom, to self-respect, dignity and the incomparable joy of getting an independent country for ourselves and generation to come and welfare of its people. That is why Bangabandhu is respected, honoured and loved. It is for that reason alone the day of his brutal assassination is observed as our "National Mourning Day". This year Bangalee nation and the citizens of Bangladesh (inside and outside of Bangladesh) observed the 33rd death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with some relief and great enthusiasm & determination as in compliance with a recent High Court ruling, the present interim caretaker government had reinstated August 15 as "National Mourning Day", a public holiday & the national flag was at half-mast to commemorate the assassination of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and to paid dedicated homage, tribute and respect to Bangabandhu.

They recalled some golden memory of Bangabandhu and remembered the contributions of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to our history and the pivotal role he played in the shaping of our destiny.

All the speakers demanded for executing the court verdict against his condemned assassins without any further delay. They too call upon the present interim government, to declare officially Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the father of the nation.

Speakers condemned previous Jamat - BNP JOT government for detracting the great leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by stripping him of the title 'Father of the Nation' through enacting law and by pulling down his portrait from the deserved position and also by twisting the truth in books of our children about Bangabandhu's political struggle towards the creation of Bangladesh

Speakers also conveyed thanks to the present care taker government, President, Chief Adviser, the army Chief, the Navy Chief and the Air chief for paying their proper respect to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and for offering prayers and placing flowers at his grave at Tungipara, ancestral home of Bangabandhu on 15th August, 2007.

Speakers also thanked concerned judges of the High Court Bench for giving the historic, exemplary & correct verdict and also thank three Supreme Court lawyers, Mr. Mozammel Haque, Mr. Mollah Abu Kaiser and Mr. MA Malek – who filed the public interest litigation & petition
