Raid on home of The Hindu's Kashmir correspondent

Reporters Without Borders deplores yesterday's raid by members of the counter intelligence agency on the home of Shujaat Bukhari, The Hindu daily newspaper's correspondent in Srinagar. Bukhari, who was not at home at the time, was told by his family that the agents were looking for two Kashmiri leaders.

No newspapers are on sale in Kashmir for the third day running as a result of a curfew imposed by the authorities to prevent demonstrations.

Perquisition au domicile du correspondant de The Hindu au Cachemire

Reporters sans frontières déplore la perquisition, menée le 26 août par des éléments des services de contre espionnage, au domicile de Shujaat Bukhari, correspondant du quotidien The Hindu à Srinagar. Absent à ce moment-là, le journaliste a été informé ensuite par sa famille que les agents étaient à la recherche de deux leaders cachemiris.

Pour le troisième jour consécutif, les journaux sont absents des kiosques dans le Cachemire, en raison du couvre-feu imposé par les autorités pour empêcher les manifestations.
