[mukto-mona] As per translation of Yogi Sikand

As per translation of Yogi Sikand,

"The limits or scope of a jamaat in Islam are illustrated in the following  Quranic verse: 'Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: they are the ones to attain felicity' (Surah Al-e Imran: 104)."

Comment by JR:

Jamatis are following exactly what is said in the above Surah. They are engaged in establishing what is right and forbidding what is wrong, as per Quran. If wrong-doers do not follow their instructions, what Jamatis will do? As per Quaran, wrong-doers will be given warnings. If that does not work, what Jamatis will do? Do you think they should just give up implementing God's rule or resort to forceful implementation of God's rule?

As you can see, this is a no-win situation. No matter how you explain or interpret, the ultimate result is the same.

According to Islam, the declaration and conduct of jihad, in the sense of qital or physical warfare, and the establishment of Islamic laws related to collective affairs is solely the responsibility of the state. It is completely forbidden in Islam for non-state actors to form parties in order to engage in struggles or movements for this purpose.

Comments by JR:

That is exactly why Jamatis feel the need for taking over state power to become 'state actors.' Without that power they cannot implement their version of good and bad in the society. No matter how you view the above interpretation, Jamatis are not doing anything outside the scope of the above statements.

No matter how we try, different ideological views will always clash with each other and will lead to violence. We cannot eliminate the ideological threat by glorifying one or the other.

The only way we can minimize of the wrath of ideological views is by marginalizing their influence in our public lives. We have to push our religion into our private lives. Political use of religion needs to be forbidden in the society. The separation of state and religion is the most essential part to achieve that goal. No matter how you interpret Quranic Surahs, if we give religious fundamentalists a political platform, it will lead to violence, hatred, and discrimination.
