That's how Prof. Das can be truly characterized when it comes to selling himself as a pundit. I highly appreciate that Prof. Das has finally found at least one (12th century) scholar named Ghazzali from Islamic (Muslim) tradition whose world views were very broad. Unfortunately "--in 1150 his works were publicly burnt, a not infrequent practice in that century,---" (Grunbaum). People capable of thinking like Ghazzali have never been rare in history. They are not rare in the contemporary world too. It is our mindset that obstructs our views of the true nature of human thoughts. Our views are so blurred that we cannot distinguish between thoughts of Dr. Harun-uz-Zaman and Mr. Hannan (one example, view about removal of sculpture). Also we cannot distinguish between the thoughts of Maulana Wahiduddin and Maulana Mowdoodi. One other factor that has blurred our views are the world-wide highly visible acts of the Islamic militants.
