The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is looking for a suitable candidate for the post of the Dhaka City Corporation mayor, party sources said.
The party chairperson, Khaleda Zia, has asked the leaders of the party to propose names of ‘acceptable’ persons for the post, they said.
The Election Commission is likely to hold the elections to the Dhaka City Corporation late March or early April, sources in the commission said.
The BNP nominated the incumbent mayor, Sadeque Hossain Khoka, to the post in the 2002 mayoral elections.
Asked whether he is an aspirant, Sadeque on Wednesday told New Age, ‘Let us see what the party decides.’
