[ALOCHONA] RE: [BdStudents] RE: Election in Bangladesh

Dear All,

Bangladesh is our parents' and fore-father's land where we were born and brought up. So, naturally we have the utmost responsibility of trying to put our efforts to make Bangladesh better. However, how? The biggest hurdle towards this goal is turfism. Almost everyone thinks, this is my turf, and others have no right to it. This must change. Everyone who was born in Bangladesh shall have the rights and privileges to work towards that end.

Having said so, it is my observation, since my childhood, that we (the Bangladeshis as a nation) have the extreme tendency of quarterization. Everyone must belong to this or that group. Individualism did not at all grow amongst the Bangladeshis. Proofs are the postings below.

I believe, the country will best be served by individual brainstorming thoughts, passed along the public arena, and let people think about these thoughts, tips, ideas, plans and programs. Finally, people will be able to implement the better ideas, through their understanding, political tools, and leverages.

What Bangladesh is  going through is the developmental stages. Needs to grow a lot more in future. While talking about growth, is not referred to the political parties. They all have the same character. They will never give people anything. Bangladesh would be better off by not having any political parties. Also, military rules must be avoided, unless the nation is in extreme disaster, like the one happened in pre-one-eleven. People who did the destructions at pre-on-eleven have not been legally punished. This is equivalent to 1971 war crimes. However, it got slipped off. The BNP-Jamat robbed the country massively and created the situation for one-eleven. Rather than be punished for their ludicracy, they are now arming, to have next land slide towards their favor. How long this race will go? This is the most unfortunate event continuously going on in Bangladesh for quite a long time. Would the Bangladeshi political parties ever understand the ruinous affect of this falacy and will try to correct them? If yes, Bangladesh will prosper in future. If not, a lot of more troubles are remaining ahead.

One thing to mention would probably be beneficial. Bangladesh will never be benefited by any top-down policy. People in the top will never pass anything below for the benefit of the general mass, unless they get their own benefits or be scared to be punished. The whole administrative machinary is extremely corrupt, and there is no immediate sign of improvement. In this situation, people in the top are, I believe, dauntless and fearless of being any prosecutory actions. So, they would do what they want to do. If someone opts to be better, will be better and by the same token, if someone want to be worst, can easily be worst, and will get away with; without any touch. What all these mean? How then we can get something done for the betterment of the country? The only way would be the growth of the people. When the people will grow (which is not gonna happen overnight like the overnight election), getting out of the frames, would be able to think individually, can contribute ideas and thoughts across the nation; only then the people in the top will think twice before doing anything wrong.

What may contribute to the growth of the general mass? Real unbiased meaningful world standard education, independence in the media, growth of the civil socities, growth of patriotic actvists in all sphare of mass lives. Must be able to rise above usual traditions, beliefs, bondages, nepotisms, be respectful to the law and orders, and respect the rights of the others. The ETHICS must preceed all others. These are the attributes, when will grow in the populations of the country, the public will have the right know-hows and tools to keep the people in the administration and in politics to the right paths. Until then we all have to live in the phases of the growths. Let the growth happen. Please do not work against the growths.

To Mr. Zoglul Husain, I would like to mention, that your definition of  "US-Israel-India Axis" is too harsh, too strong, too distorted, completely factless, extremely biased, and is just much of hate mongering than doing any good for the country. I believe, you must stop this kind of quarterized empathy, and spareheaddeness, and spread hates against the public mandate. It may not be acceptable to you, and so not to many other people but a public mandate is always the final avenue where everyone must be accommodated at least for the time until any notable mis-happenings occur agaianst the public mandate. By the way, I have no connections with BAL, whatsoever.

A baby has to be raised by the parents and the other people in the society. Until the nation grow fully, as I have explained above, other people (nations, organizations) will always be involved in the politics of Bangladesh. So, let the nation be growing and maturing as fast as possible, such that the external influence can be resisted, we have to accept contributions and beneficial stands of the others. However, we must avoid that we (as babies) understand that will not affect the basic tanets of the country.

Thanks and have a great day.

Regards,
KR

Dear Mr. Zoglul Husain,

Please be patient and watch Hasina and her government. We should be patient
and watch closely the activities of this Government. We should act like
civilized people as we are living in civilized world.

I am in USA for more than 11 years and was in Canada for more than 3 years. I
left Bangladesh when I was 33 years old. I used to do active student politics
when I was in BUET. We did lot of movement against Ershad and we got
democracy in 1991. I was optimistic in that time but we failed.

When one eleven happened, I supported. Many of my friends did not like the
army backed government and opposed. Now they realize that what the past army
backed government did was good for the country, citizens and democracy.

People started to get the recognition thru the ID card. People now feel that
yes they are the citizen of Bangladesh and they have the right to vote without
fear. Before every party was using them, now they have their own choice. What
they did in this election, I think they speaks out without any fear. I think
with this election, people started to rethink that they have the power. If AL
can not fulfill their demand, they will through them out in next election and
elect a new party to power. We would like to have strong democracy and rule of
law like USA, UK, EU countries, Canada, Australia, Japan, India etc.

Also there are some other way for economic development, example China. But we
like to have economic development as well as democracy. We like to bring
Bangladesh as a middle income country within next 10 years, and I believe it
will be possible. So we should be patient and wait. We all should support free
and fair election like 29th December 2008 and also give chances to the elected
government to run the country for next 5 years.

Also I than the media to play a positive role in Bangladesh.

Have you noticed how often rehana is visible / audible, whenever there are
photos+ news of new PM hasina?
Is it the begining of " shaikh dynasty "...AGAIN.
and also the begining of installation of rehana...as the next PM?

Time will tell.
Lets enjoy cheap food + unlimited safety...under hasina's rule.

The Evil Axis stage-managed a landslide victory for BAL

By Zoglul Husain, UK

London 3 January 2009. The Awami League, which won a landslide victory in the
national election held on 29 December 2008, with 230 seats and 48.06% of the
votes cast, was as stunned with joy as the BNP was numbed by shock with a
paltry 29 seats and 32.45% of the votes cast, on a reportedly record turnout
of 87.29% and accepted votes of 86.29%, the figure many read with disbelief.
As the dust settles, it is time to take stock of where we the public now are,
try and discern the future that is about to unfold and be pro-active, rather
than sit idly, by twiddling our thumbs and singing, ʽWhat will be, will
beʼ.

The landslide victory:
The over-elated Awami League supporters have been saying that the people have
spoken quite loud and clear, and that their opponents must listen. The fact
is, back in 2001, it was the BNP who won a landslide victory against the BAL
and, so,
the people can swing from one direction to another and can swing back again.
The other thing that needs to be mentioned about the landslide victory is that
we have seen many landslide victories such as in 1954, 1970, 1973, 2001, and
now in 2008, but in spite of all these victories, 45% of our people are still
under the poverty line. So, nationally we must loudly and clearly address the
question of poverty, rather than silently accept our ʽfateʼ and meekly let
the elected ones use popular support for misrule and corruption.

How was the landslide victory achieved?
It is the US, the UK, Europe, Canada, Australia, the UN, Israel, India, the
military-controlled interim government of Bangladesh, the administration and
their supporters together, who were the architects of this landslide victory.
The BNP was basically forcibly uprooted from power, then it was thrown hard on
the floor of the political arena, where it landed with
bruises and broken limbs. Despite corruption and misrule, the BNP was thought
to win the election scheduled on 22 January 2007. Corruption and misrule are
also the characteristics of BAL as well, and much more so, as we have seen in
their governments of 1972-75 and 1996-2001, but, that being at least seven
years ago, is not known to the new voters, age 18-25.

The evil US-Israel-India Axis launched a ʽlogi-boithaʼ attack through the
BAL on 28 October 2006 as the BNP government handed over power to a caretaker
government for the ensuing election. In the attack about 36 people died, which
was followed by the frightening prospect of a civil war, about to be initiated
by the BAL with their violent demos and blockades of roads and ports, and
which, as planned on a blueprint drawn before 2005 by the evil Axis, provided
them the excuse for a military takeover on one-eleven 2007, with emergency
rules stifling democracy and cancelling the election of
22 January 2007.

Then thousands of BNP leaders and workers were rounded up and sent to prison
with thousands of others driven away from their constituencies. This was done
along with non-stop propaganda against the BNP nationally and internationally.
The Axis has overwhelming influences on the media, Human Rights organisations,
etc. as they bankroll most of them quite lavishly. The axis then organised,
probably with threat and or temptations, about 80 former MPs of BNP to demand
reforms and to break up the party, with the reformists working with the
interim government. With the emergency rules stifling democracy and with the
state of the BNP, bulldozed and demolished as they were, the situation
continued for two years until 16 December 2008, when the emergency rules were
lifted, but with soldiers deployed for the election on 29 December 2008.
Obviously, the time of 13-days was less than long enough for the BNP to
recuperate and reorganise for the
election, although Khaleda held about 200 meetings in two weeks with huge
gatherings and massive support. Also, about the actual holding of the
election, the BNP has, in press briefings, complained about irregularities and
riggings in every constituency.

This was essentially how the evil Axis dished out the landslide victory to the
BAL.

What happened to the ʽminus twoʼ theory?
As the military-controlled interim government took over on one-eleven 2007,
they first tried a ʽminus twoʼ theory, i.e. exiling both Khaleda and
Hasina and forming a kingʼs party. Initially to balance the imprisonment of
huge numbers of BNP leaders and workers, they sent many BAL leaders and
workers to prison. They backed Professor Yunus and later Ferdous Quoreshi to
form a party, which would be subservient to the evil Axis. They even tried
small parties to form a kingʼs front. But these attempts failed miserably.
On the other hand,
Khaleda refused to leave the country, in spite of the government sending her
two sons to prison with reported severe torture and in spite of both Khaleda
and Hasina being sent to prison. And so the ʽminus twoʼ theory fell apart,
failing also miserably. Then the evil Axis was compelled to strike a deal with
Hasina, as the second choice, and Hasina readily pledged allegiance and
subservience. Thus it was Khaleda who foiled the ʽminus twoʼ formula, but
it was Hasina who reaped the benefit.

What kind of government are we going to get?
Over the last two years, the illegal military-controlled interim government
was never impartial, the administration they set up was never impartial, the
Election Commission they set up was never impartial, the condition, which the
BNP was reduced to, was not impartial, and so, de facto, the election cannot
be called free, fair, credible or
acceptable. For two years, the whole country, under emergency rules, was
turned into a big prison, where the evil Axis and its collaborators ruled.
Actually, the evil Axis hijacked the election of 22 January 2007, by
conspiracy and by force, and delivered the election of 29 December 2008, after
a ruthless and sordid political engineering spanning over two years. The
target was the destruction of the nationalist force within the BNP and, though
the evil Axis has managed to defeat it for the time being, it would not be for
long. Nationalist forces are like a Phoenix, which regenerates itself whenever
hurt by a foe. The people of Bangladesh will never surrender to the domination
and plunder of the evil Axis. A network of political resistance throughout the
country is expected to develop soon.

The US and their allies installed the governments of al-Maliki, Karzai,
Musharraf, Zardari, etc. They have now installed the government of Hasina,
which is
likely to be a puppet government of India, supported by the US, their allies
and their rubber stamp, the UN, as India is a strategic ally of the US.
Hasina, as reported in the Ananda Bazar Potrika on 31 December 2008, already
made a phone call to the Foreign Minister of India Pronab Mukherjee requesting
him to be present at the oath taking ceremony of her next government. She
said, "Dada, you will have to come to participate in the oath taking ceremony
(of my government) with Boudi." Whether her political Dada (older brother) and
Boudi (older brotherʼs wife) attend the ceremony or not, Hasina has
unmistakably given her elated signal of allegiance to the Indian Foreign
Minister.

So, where are we and what do we do?
With the election as it was concluded, the political control of Bangladesh has
gone to the evil Axis and they will expect the government to be a puppet on a
string. But the people of Bangladesh will be extra
vigilant to see if any of their national interests are jeopardized or
compromised or sold out. For example, in order to highlight an agenda of the
evil Axis, Hasina has already talked about a South Asian Task Force to control
terrorism. This would be a ploy for a military intervention. In 2003, Bhutan
launched a joint military operation with India to flush out ULFA, but since
then Indian army has been stationed there permanently, with Bhutan reduced to
an Indian dependency. I think it would be quite appropriate here to warn the
government of Hasina, and its supporter the evil Axis, that if there is any
attempt against the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh, then the
valiant people of Bangladesh will stand up in resistance in whatever capacity
and in whatever way they can. The unjust Indian interests in Bangladesh are
well known, but the evil Axis must also know the just national interests of
Bangladesh. The evil Axis has already been defeated in
Iraq and Afghanistan they will be defeated in Bangladesh too! The people of
the world will certainly defeat the imperialists and the hegemonists!

There are no problem of having 90% voters voting. But counting the time to vote and the lenghty procedure of voting, it is not simply possible to have huge amount of voters voted in the declared voting time. The ID card as far I know is not "biometric". It is a photo ID. Many voters complained that they couldnt cast vote. However the activities of the caretaker govt and Army Chief was always questionable. Amry chief (who came from background of Rakhi Bahini) was always awami biased and praising "Sheikh Mujib" from the day one. Caretaker never took stern action against Hasina. When Khaleda's so called "corrupt" sons were beaten to death Mrs. Hasina Wajed binte Sheikh Mujib was travelling USA and EU and participating wedding ceremony of her Neice. Awami league never be able to get 230 seats if the vote was not "rigged". This election was not fair. Hasina was put into power to give privilege to India (military transit to india to travel to eastern states, GAS and Chittagong port) and to save General MoinU (who became full general by himself without appointment of a elected govt.) and Fakhruddin. Also choosing a inexperienced and weak foreign minister proves Bangladesh's foreign ministry will be dictated by India :)
Bangladesh never had problem with Khaleda as PM. It was Hasina who is the trouble maker she will not find until she destroy the country totally.

Perhaps the reason why 90% of people have participated is that they feel its time for a change?
If this election is not acceptable and totally fake, even after two years of preperation and beiometric ID cards, what is your recommendation for making a fair election?

I think corruptions was committed by all parties, however Bangladesh seems to lack the apetite for new leaders and new parties, the evidence shows that they keep electing the same people again and again.

We just have to wait when these leaders naturally age and leave politics, hopefully though it won't turn into a Hasina & Khalida dynasty.

Even a kid can understand this election was fake. Never in our history or any democratic country's history 90% vote was cast. The average vote casting always is 50-60%. Obviously lots of fake votes were casts. Awami league was supposed to be in power as they promised they will save General Moin U Ahmed. For last two years civil administration and military administration were forced to work to make Awami league by pressure of Moin U Ahmed and 4 marked brigadier generals (all of them were ex-Rakhi Bahini).

Like you I would like to see Sonar Bangladesh. However I do not see reflection real public opinion. As lots of ex-criminal MPs of Awami league won the election with big margins. Another Sheikh Hasina govt reminds us following things from previous experience her as a PM:

1. Share Market collapse (Finance minister Kibria and his son made fortune out of it)
2. Week Economy
3. Massive corruption (People like MA Jalil become owner of Mercantile Bank)
4. Widespread corruption in SSC, HSC and BCS exams!!!
5. Cheap distribution of frequency spectrums to foreign mobile companies (one of the company was shared by ex-telecom minister M. Nasim)
6. Massive corruption by Hasina's son Mr. Joy, who made 3 billion dollar US business [Since media is awami biased we do not get those news in papers like prothom alo or daily star]
7. Tortures on Hindu and buddhist community by Amir hossain Amu.
8. Massive oppression on opponent political opponents by Dr. Iqbal, Altaf Golondaj, Shameem Osman and notorious JOINAL HAZARI
9. There were 3 new airline companies oppened by Awami MPs.
10. New banks were opened by awami MPs.
11. Buying MIG-29 and frigate from bankrupt company Daewoo was biggest corruption charge against Ms. Sheikh Hasina Wajed!!!
12. Very low patriotic and self-respect of Sheik Hasina who was always addressed as "Mukkho mantri" not as "Prodhan Mantri" by indian media.
13. Sheikh hasina created lots of joke like she asked her to call "sir" not "madam".

I know people remember these misrules and corruption. There were no chance awami league would win this election if it was really a fare election. Awami will never in their dreams will imagin to recieve 60% vote.

If the Parliament is formed and running then we can only wait and see what happens to our country. There were no chance of getting something better from Sheikh Hasina or Khaleda Zia. People saw their governance and their will be nothing better from them. If the parliament is formed I hope Awami league will better choose a new PM. Leaders like Abdul Razzak should be good choice as future PM.

Question: Did people really wanted to have commedian Hasina as our future PM?
Answer: No

With regard to separating religion from state and keeping religion in the house etc etc In a true democracy people chose the laws by which they wish to be governed and how much of religion they want to include or exclude from governance. Prohibition leads to organisations and ideologies going underground, history is full of examples, in the west extreme racist groups such as the BNP in the UK are allowed to have a voice and openly contest elections, in reality what happens is that common sense prevails and people with 'nutty' & 'irrational' ideas are marginalised. I am a muslim and I personally want my religion to be included in the governance of a 90% muslim country, but I am prepared to argue and debate and convince others. If you advocate that I don't speak about my religion and keep it in my home, then perhaps you need to look at countries like North Korea, Cuba or perhaps West Bengal. People in the civilised mature democracies certainly include religious debate in politics, even today there are 30 seats reserved for senior clergy in the House of Lords in the UK

Dear All,

The Care Taker Government and the Military of Bangladesh has set up a permanent example on the face of the earth that being a temporary Government and Military implementing the Order can bring a country from the brink of total Chaos and collapse to a new front for the absolute prosperity in future.
I am extremely hopeful that all politicians, including the born again old politicians, will "PUT THE COUNTRY FIRST BEFORE ALL ELSE". The new Government of Bangladesh should take the development and administrative programs in hand as soon as possible for the near and long-term future prosperity of Bangladesh. Some of these vital programs can be as follows:

(A) Separate Religion from Politics and no politics can refer to or take shelter to any religions. Religion must be confined inside the house and inside the
mosques, mondirs, churches, pagods, etc. only.
(B) Trial 1971 War Criminals.
(C) Modernize Trade and Tariff systems such that Bangladeshi exports can be increased to its maximum.
(D) Control Inflation.
(E) Provide ample agricultural subsidy.
(F) Take all out programs for Economic Growth, including the public infrastructure building. Build own all-out transportation infrastructure such that the other countries like India do not have the chance to come to Bangladesh to build their transits inside Bangladesh.
(G) Take active programs to build, nurture, and flourish all sorts of Civil Societies throughout the nation.
(H) Create a vibrant and close, neutral and good, harmonious relationship with all neighbors such as India, Burma, China, Thailand, Nepal, Pakistan, etc.
(I) Modify Federal Governmental Structure to Local Government Structures (Independent Three-Tier Governments such as T1: Municipality or Village Council dealing with all public administrative affairs except money-military-foreign, T2: District Council providing all helps to all municipality/village council under jurisdiction except money-military-foreign, and finally T3: Federal Government providing all helps to all district councils in the country plus the money-military-foreign affairs.

If these plans work out and the Government remains above corruptions, as the precidence has been set by the present CTG, I hope things will all work out, and Bangladesh will turn into a real GOLDEN BANGLADESH one day.

Thanks,
KR
