[ALOCHONA] RE: BDR Gunfire

Dear Friends>

Dostoevsky said, "the degree of civilization in a society can be judged by entering its prisons." Using Dostoevsky's yardstick, honestly speaking---we the Bangladeshis are really uncivilized people. We sure as hell know how to use cosmetic factors to convince ourselves that we are educated, cultured, and civilized. Just like the Hindi Movie—Slumdog Millionaire---1/100 of 1% of Bangladeshis, have managed to convince the +99%---that they can also get a plot in Baridhaara, buy a Pajero and marry Rani Mukherjee---if only they work hard enough! I very responsibly call us 'uncivilized and barbarians'. Why? Because any nation in 21st Century, that does not have the mechanism to allow its citizens to file a grievance---automatically qualifies as an uncivilized nation in my book. The elites in this country are really heartless, shameless, and disgraceful creatures indeed. Let me explain; My Personal-Trainer is a body builder. The Gym pays him 2500/ Taka per month. Now, you guys go figure. The great tragedy about this is that far too many in our society, members of the government, and opposition included, are indifferent about it. The Greatest Tragedy is that, we have allowed our country's subnormal conditions to become normal for us. We have become desensitized to human misery. Our elites, politicians and government officials are going to Bangkok for a 'relaxing massage' while keeping their fellow countrymen hooked on the drug called--Religion, Cricket, Hindi Movies and all sorts of gimmickries---The Country  reminds us of our true degree of civilization. And the longer we ignore it the more it mocks us.
