[ALOCHONA] Re: Was our military short-staffed during the BDR Mutiny and if so why?

Dear Mr. Reza,

What I am saying is that command officers were not in Bangladesh during the mutiny. It is not enough that COAS gives the order and troops move. There exists a section of officers who have to implement the move order but there were none or very few available because they were all in India. When the tanks moved on the 27th this was in direct revolt of orders without command officers guiding the move.

I really do not see why you should be so bloody amused when so many officers were killed. There is nothing amusing about the events at Pilkhana where a concerted effort to undermine our army was being implemented.

Regards

Munshi

Are you suggesting that by having a dozen senior officers outside the country, the army was incapacitated to an extent that they did not have a clue about how to respond. The fact is the top Army brass, including Gen. Moeen were in the country and could have crushed the mutineers within hours. It was absolute lack of leadership and crisis management skills that led to the human disaster that followed.
